There is something wonderful to be said about the representation of the Queen City of the South in Bb. Pilipinas 2018 which boasts of having not just one or two or three, but four (4) Binibinis in the thick of the competition for the crowns at stake. There is #Binibini3 Muriel Adrienne Orais, followed by #Binibini23 Ena Velasco (who is originally from Bacolod but trained in Cebu) and #Binibini26 Wynonah Buot. #Binibini32 Eva Patalinjug completes the quartet and how. This is such a strong group of Cebuanas in what could be their strongest presence yet in the nationals.
Among the four, Ena has the strongest credentials, being a Medical Doctor – something that would benefit most the charity projects of BPCI with her mere presence alone. Muriel has the best PR and communication background, being part of the Presidential Cabin Crew and also the face of the print ads and in-flight safety video of the nation’s flag carrier. Wynonah has the most solid modeling background as a profession, having spent years as a runway gazelle and photographic subject in Cebu. Eva is not falling behind in the looks and popularity department, aside from being the only nationally-titled top winner of another beauty pageant, Mutya ng Pilipinas (Muriel also placed in Miss Philippines Earth, but as a member of the Elemental Court).
Each one of the four have strong cards to lay down on the table come deliberation time. Who will get the best reward come March 18, dear readers?

I don’t deny my developing friendships and fondness for the forty Binibinis of Bb. Pilipinas 2018. After all, this was the same scenario in the last two years when I really went out of my way to be close to all the candidates so I can size them up better in terms of personality and Queen-worthiness.
During the Store Tour last week at Ali Mall, my colleague Mario Dumaual (of ABS-CBN) was teasing me to no end. When his crew was filming the arrival of the Binibinis at Pizza Hut, they were able to capture every single one of them giving me a buss on the cheek while in line according to number. Perhaps, it is something that I treasure in the coverage. They have started to trust me in a way that I would always spin positivity about them instead of posting unpleasant thoughts of divisiveness. I know that this is still a tough competition first and foremost. But I want all forty to enjoy the journey and collect good memories all throughout. Every minute I spend with them is very much appreciated. I will just worry about separating the potential winners from the rest once the date of the Coronation Night is just 2-3 days away.
For now, Happy Valentine’s Day to all the Binibinis and to you, my dear readers!
I am adding a new factor in my analysis of the forty (40) Binibinis of Bb. Pilipinas 2018. This is the “hands-on-feel” (not “gut-feel”) factor that can only be fulfilled if one actually spends some quality personal time with them, while observing what impact they have on the individuals running the orgnization (BPCI). It really takes a lot of keen observation on my part, and I am not bragging about having that kind of advantage. I just want to give you, dear readers, a running idea about stuff that you will not get purely from photos, videos, social media posts and also personal armchair assessments from the comforts of your desktop at home or work or while lazing on bed checking out updates in your smartphones.
According to their numbers now, I am sharing fourteen (14) Binibinis on the upswing. Fourteen just because Valentine’s Day is always observed on the fourteenth:
#Binibini1 Vickie Marie Rushton
#Binibini3 Muriel Orais
#Binibini10 Kayesha Chua
#Binibini11 Aya Abesamis
#Binibini14 Samantha Mae Bernardo
#Binibini17 Ma. Ahtisa Manalo
#Binibini19 Michele Gumabao
#Binibini20 Catriona Gray
#Binibini23 Ena Velasco
#Binibini26 Wynonah Buot
#Binibini31 Jehza Huelar
#Binibini32 Eva Patalinjug
#Binibini35 Sandra Lemonon
#Binibini38 Karen Gallman
To date, these ladies are starting to collect “good grades” from most everyone. “Good grades” are not actual digits awarded on paper, but an accumulation of positive feedbacks/impressions that – if left unopposed – might really get to cement serious inroads to make themselves the ladies to beat in the upcoming weeks of competition. The key word is consistency. It could be consistent physical beauty, consistently pleasant personality, consistently admirable demeanour or plain consistent Queen-worthiness in all aspects for consideration. Mind you, the parameters above are things one can only (and closely) observe in person.
I am still waiting for stronger moves from the ones I want to zoom up in the charts like #Binibini37 Patrizia Garcia, #Binibini15 Juliana Kapeundl, #Binibini36 Loren Mar Artajos and #Binibini7 Sigrid Grace Flores. In all honesty, these four have it in them to be potential favorites by those whose inputs matter most. They just need to get in the groove and step up big-time.
Let’s see, dear readers. Let’s see.
One thing your #Binibini26 discovered when she started her Bb. Pilipinas 2018 journey is the constant physical comparison to Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental 2016 Jennifer Hammond such that practically all her casual photos get the same comments. Actually, even in person, there are small nuances and mannerisms that make the two look like twin sisters separated at birth.
Wynonah never looks at the comparison as a bad thing. Not at all. But then again, she wants to really strike her own identity and be appreciated on her own merits. Be it physical or otherwise. She is a smart girl who has unique qualities to share, like having a very down-to-earth personality inspite of people getting the impression that she might be distant or “suplada”. You just need to approach her and everything will go swimmingly the minute she starts a conversation.
From hereon now, your #Binibini26 is exclusively Wynonah Buot who is out for the “wyn”.
After presenting to you the latest official shots of the forty (40) Binibinis of Bb. Pilipinas 2018 as photographed by Raymond Saldaña (where they all looked amazing), allow me to share my choices as the Best 5 among them.
I am sharing this quintet in my order of preference:
Binibini3 Muriel Adrienne Orais
Binibini9 Agatha Romero
Binibini17 Ma. Ahtisa Manalo
Binibini37 Patrizia Garcia
Binibini26 Wynonah Buot
Both Muriel and Agatha are aggresively fiery in their respective projections. It is hard to choose the better between the two, but I give Binibini3 the edge for contouring her figure so curvaceously. Ahtisa, on the other hand, did away with her usually slam-book pretty poses and stayed within the thin line between tempered innocence and sweet sensuality. Patrizia surprised with a soulful allure plus a look that pierces through the lens, while Wynonah’s mysterious aura defines the strength in her character with a dash of fearlessness.
