Here are more of the ladies who made it as Official Candidates of Miss World Philippines 2016. Some of the photos below are raw images I sourced online. Viva Entertainment announced that there will be an extra day of screening later this week to beef up the number of contenders for this batch. Just the same, there are a few promising faces below who deserve to be part of the group.
Have you watched and heard Bb. Pilipinas International 2016 Kylie Verzosa read poems? And in deep Filipino at that? Well, Rappler has commissioned our Queen to do a reading of one of the works of poet Joi Barrios – “Kasalo” – for Buwan ng Wika or the annual month-long observance of the Filipino language.
Watch now and tell me if she gave justice to the same. 🙂
Alaiza Malinao for Elite Model Look Asia Pacific 2016

Alaiza Malinao has gone beyond Asia’s Next Top Model and is now gunning for the bigger model search in the region – Elite Model Look Asia-Pacific 2016. And with the backing of some important names in the industry (including the very familiar Ines Ligron), she could be in good hands for this tough competition where the winners will be guaranteed with attractive modeling contracts in Asia-Pacific and even beyond depending on the breaks that will come their way.
Will Alaiza find her true place under the sun here? I certainly hope so because she really wants to do good in this one. Aside from being the Philippine entry, she will have her future locked and sealed in bright hues and hefty contracts if she wins the big one.
18 girls attended the final screening of Miss World Philippines 2016
On top of the five (5) entries of Aces & Queens – Catriona Gray, Sandra Lemonon, Vinie Camille Dy Quiangco, Arienne Louise Calingo and Ralph Lauren Asuncion – thirteen (13) more aspirants showed up for the Final Screening of Miss World Philippines 2016 at the B Hotel in Quezon City.

The names of the other ladies have not been released yet, but I am pretty sure that – with the still underwhelming turnout of additional sign-ups – Viva Entertainment and GMA-7 will take matters into their own hands and make sure that they will still be able to assemble an acceptable number of qualified candidates for this year’s batch.
True, people are asking why go through such lengths if the title is looking like a lock for the most obvious winner. But this is still a beauty pageant search and CQGQ is obliged to come up with a competition that would pass the standards of the Miss World Organization for a title-dedicated national finals. Everything should go through a process. And the likelihood of a surprise candidate or two is still in the clear horizon if you ask me.
Cloie Syquia Skarne will definitely be back in Manila for an international beauty pageant as Miss Sweden. She has just been crowned Miss Earth Sweden 2016 and will be taking part in Miss Earth 2016 to be held in the country later this year.
People were expecting the daughter of actor Gabby Concepcion and Jenny Syquia to win the bigger title of Miss Universe Sweden 2016 that would have allowed her to return to Manila for the 65th Miss Universe come January 30, 2017. But this one is the next best thing as she will slug it out for the crown alongside Miss Philippines Earth 2016 Imelda Schweighart.
Very soon, Miss United Continents Philippines 2016 Jeslyn Santos will be departing for Guayaquil, Ecuador where she will wear the country’s sash for Miss United Continents 2016 happening from September 8-28. This will be her most important pageant representation abroad as it will have far more candidates for a competition that has always been dominated by Latin Americans (as all of its previous and reigning winners are Latinas).
Jeslyn (in photos here by Tyke King) has prepared long and hard for this. All the learnings she accumulated from Miss World Peace 2015 plus two Bb. Pilipinas stints will work in her favor as she goes up against the serious challenge being posed by the other confirmed delegates for the same.
Go find Laura’s billboard along EDSA
If you happen to be passing along EDSA and chanced upon this billboard of Folded & Hung with the huge photo of a gorgeous girl getting your attention, then that’s Laura Lehmann alright, our dear Bb. Pilipinas 2014 1st Runner-Up who is doing the clothing brand’s Disney line.
Of course, we have been constantly egging her to rejoin Bb. Pilipinas. And hopefully, the request won’t come to naught come 2017. She will be really prepared by then.
In the meantime, watch this video of Laura taken at The Farm in Masinloc. She remains always beautiful and crown-worthy. 😉
Tomorrow at the B Hotel in Quezon City, the Final Screening of Miss World Philippines 2016 will be underway. So I am encouraging the beautiful Filipinas out there to sign up and relish the experience of taking part in a national beauty pageant that will seek our representative to the next Miss World happening in Washington DC, USA just shortly before Christmas this year (or December 20 to be exact).
We all know by now that there were only eight (8) joiners during the General Screening so I hope that the other camps and talent handlers will field in their entries. It really doesn’t help our pageant industry to have major providers skipping on this particular search because there needs to be unity, regardless of the reason/s.
Hi! Norman here. When I'm not working, I spend most of my free time planning on daily blogs. If you will notice, I always make sure that a fresh topic comes out everyday - not an easy thing to do but it's all good. Thanks for dropping by and enjoy the visit!
