If you missed reading the Philippine Star yesterday, there were two articles in the Allure section about our top two Bb. Pilipinas 2014 Queens – Miss Universe Philippines 2014 Mary Jean “MJ” Lastimosa and Bb. Pilipinas International 2014 Mary Anne Bianca Guidotti.
Here are quotable quotes from the article which you can read in full after clicking on the corresponding links below.
Miss Universe Philippines 2014 Mary Jean Lastimosa
“My dad taught me that it is still possible to love despite the distance. I may never have bonding moments with him but we know we love each other.”

Bb. Pilipinas International 2014 Mary Anne Bianca Guidotti
“The most important thing is knowing that you are a force to reckon with. Don’t compare yourself with anyone. Just hang on to your beliefs. I know who I am; I know my own strengths and weaknesses. I believe I’m worth it, and I deserve a crown…”

Both outputs actually give us reasons to be more excited about the pageant missions of both ladies, right? 😉
The Official Candidates of Miss Philippines Quest USA 2014 took part in the Pre-Pageant last June 27.
Over the weekend, the Pre-Pageant of Miss Philippines Quest USA 2014 was successfully conducted at the Kalayaan Hall of the Philippine Consulate General in New York with all ten (10) Official Candidates stepping out as they tried to outshine each other in cocktail dresses, casual identical summer wear and talent. The judges had a good time scoring the ladies who will now prepare for the finals night scheduled at the Peter Norton Symphony Space in Manhattan, New York on July 12.
The ten ladies glided onstage, with some of them performing their talents.
Personally, I still believe it’s a toss up between Dominique Ivory and Alexa Kirby for the title. These two ladies are just effortless standouts.
In this group shot, it's easy to spot #1 Alexa Kirby and #9 Dominique Ivory as standouts.

Of the limited number of ladies from NCR and GMA who got the callback from the organizers of Miss Grand Philippines, eleven (11) showed up for the screening at the 2GO Hub in Luneta Park last Saturday afternoon. No familiar names or faces in the group that would surprise anyone. And there were also no applicants who can be easily identified as coming from either A&Q or KF. But there were a few who stood out and will most likely be green-lighted as the Metro Manila reps in the roster of Official Candidates to be known soon. There were five (5) other ladies expected but did not make it (with valid excuses) and will still be evaluated at a later time.

The screening panel included Miss Grand International 2013 3rd Runner-up Ali Forbes, Bb. Pilipinas 2014 Candidate Sarah Jireh Asido, Miss Philippines Earth 2014 Candidate Leslie Pine, Raymond Golez of Sash Factor, Atty. Art Lascano, Mr. Joem Guillen and John dela Vega himself.
The identities of the passing candidates from NCR will be revealed together with the several entries coming from the pageant’s eight (8) regional coordinators by early July.
Stay tuned. 🙂
This may be the break you are waiting for!
If you missed the boat to London’s West End for the revival of “Miss Saigon” this year, here’s another chance to show what you’ve got via the new musical “Here Lies Love”.
Open call auditions for strong pop singers are scheduled this coming week at Opera Haus (please refer to the poster above for the address in Makati City) and successful applicants should be ready to relocate to London right away for the start of rehearsals come August.
If you have what it takes, then don’t miss the opportunity to perform your best pop piece. Who knows? You just might get the nod and find yourself leaving for England a month from now. 😉

Mr. World Philippines 2014 John Spainhour has already returned from Torquay where he represented the country in Mr. World 2014. Somehow, life has returned back to normal. And Men’s Health Magazine took the opportunity to have him on the cover of its July 2014 issue. Looking mighty fine as always.

“I really wish I made all my mamas and sisters proud. The journey was highly influenced by the trainings, meetings, and everything in between and beyond shared with them. I hope I’d be able to maximize this year. The difficult part is just about to start.”
– Krischelle Halili, Miss Manila 2014
It would be an understatement to say that newly-crowned Miss Manila Krischelle “KC” Halili is happy to have won the title last June 24. She is ecstatic, over-the-moon with joy even.
And for what she has achieved, KC is deeply grateful for all the guidance and trainings she received from Aces & Queens. Her transformation in their hands is something she would have never imagined possible at the onset. But now that she has proven herself capable of the objective she has targetted for herself, the platform to initiate some change or to further the worthy projects of the City of Manila is already in her midst.
From this point, Miss Manila 2014 is dedicating her time, knowledge and effort to becoming an effective ambassadress.
Life indeed happens in Manila. And Krischelle Halili is out to prove that.

Good luck, Girl! 😀
Miss Universe Australia 2014 Tegan Martin
First off, if you fancy supporting Miss Universe Australia 2014 Tegan Martin (next to our MJ Lastimosa, of course), you can visit and like her official Facebook Fan Page to get updates on her training and preparation for Miss Universe 2014.
21 year-old Tegan – who is the youngest Aussie ever to win the national honor – is taking her title very seriously and wants to make sure that the opportunity she worked hard for since 2012 will yield the desired results. She aims to follow the trail of Kerry Anne Wells and Jennifer Hawkins who became Miss Universe last 1972 and 2004, respectively.
Do you like Tegan enough to see her as a tough contender for the Diamond Nexus Lab crown come December? 🙂
