Three of the four Miss Earth 2016 winners on Mornings@ANC

Long after the finals of Miss Earth 2016, the reality of having an All-Latina (or All-South American) Top 4 still makes some people question the results. Not that it matters to pageants fans from that part of the continent, but it is still a wonder nonetheless. I knew that Katherine Espin of Ecuador had it in the bag the minute she started to register all-around positive impressions from the organizers down to her fellow candidates. Of course, the fiercer competitors would beg to differ, but such is the case in an international beauty competition where it is an absolute must to have a winner (who will reign for one full year
) to possess consistently good attitude and the desire to further the cause of the organization (environmental matter in this case

Imelda with host Pinky Webb
To say that it ain’t easy being Imelda Schweighart nowadays is a big understatement. She is now the former Miss Philippines Earth 2016 (replaced by Loren Mar Artajos
) who is trying to move on with life and restoring “normalcy” to the once-quiet existence she enjoyed before jumping back into the pageant scene and even stretching her presence in the international level.
In the interview with Pinky Webb on CNN Philippines’ “The Source”, you may see her as being nice and goody-two-shoes, but the honesty (however sanitized) remains evident in the way she answers and expresses her thoughts, especially about the snowballing doubts about being Miss Philippines Earth and the country’s delegate to Miss Earth.
Watch now and tell me your thoughts after, dear readers.
Catriona with host Suzi Abrera
We all know that Miss World Philippines 2016 Catriona Gray is multi-talented. Aside from modeling, she sings, writes, blogs, draws, plays the guitar and does charity projects for the primary
education of underprivileged children. Now here’s another talent which she might have gotten from her mom – cooking. During a recent guesting on the GMA News TV early evening program “Mars” with Camille Prats and Suzi Abrera, she whipped up a dish complete with crown and sash.

And just to complete the episode, here once more is Catriona with her court in a casual talk with the hosts.

Parul & Maggie are moving up on The Amazing Race Asia 5
A photo grid summary of their performance so far
Parul & Maggie on the mat with fellow Philippine team Eric & Rona
Beauty Queens Parul Shah and Maggie Wilson continue to make us proud in The Amazing Race Asia Season 5 with their gradual ascent to the top of the pack. From a 7th place finish during the premiere episode, the duo moved up to 6th the following week before landing on 5th when the teams finally headed to Malaysia. Last Thursday, they secured their best leg finish so far by getting to the mat in Thailand at 3rd place. And FYI, the other Philippine team – married couple Eric & Rona – is still safe.
For those who missed Episode 1 (the start of the race in Jakarta) more than a few weeks back, here is the video provided by AXN and TARA itself.

For Episode 5, here is the preview teaser so you will know what the remaining racers are up against.

If you watched the World Premiere of The Amazing Race Asia Season 5 on AXN Asia cable channel last night, you would know by now that the team of Parul Shah and Maggie Wilson-Consunji are still safe as they placed 7th (among 10 remaining teams) during the first leg in Jakarta.
And you would also agree with me that this is quite a daunting task for the two ladies considering the tasks they had to complete in search for the top prize of US$100,000.00.
And what is the main motivation for them to do well in the race? It’s all for the love of Parul’s father who is ill. Maggie confessed that winning the pot money will help defray the cost of medical and hospitalization bills. It only goes to show how deep the bond is between the two.
So let’s keep on watching the reality series every Thursday night at 9:00PM on AXN Asia to see how far they will stretch their limits. I wanted to post a link to the full episode but it’s still to early to do that for copyright reasons. In a few more days, maybe?😉
Miss World 2013 Megan Young
Miss World 2013 Megan Young has really immersed herself back into TV acting. After her successful comeback as “Marimar” last year, she is now ready to do heavy drama in her next project with GMA-7 where she will star opposite actor Dingdong Dantes and test her acting chops with Cannes Film Festival Best Actress Jaclyn Jose and character actor Sid Lucero.
This is such a welcome assignment for the former Miss World because she was already into continuous serious acting prior to winning the blue crown in Bali last 2013. And given the advocacy-driven theme of the still-untitled teleserye, she is excited to be part of another ground-breaking series for the TV network.
Best of luck, Megan! Looking forward to this one!🙂
