Get to know your #Binibini33 Jessarie Dumaguing through her life struggles and a melanated skin that became her ticket to being popularly called “Black”.

Jessarie was very young when her parents parted ways. She was left in the care of a uncle whose scarcity in life prompted her to draw for her classmates’ projects and do mural paintings at school just to get the occasional allowance and somehow make it through elementary and high school.

It didn’t take long before she decided to chase her dreams of pursuing college in Puerto Princesa where she initially accepted work as a househelp to save money – just like a slice in the life story of former Bb. Pilipinas International Janicel Lubina-Valera. She was eventually discovered for modeling and pageantry. The rest is history, as she was given the monicker “Black” due to a dark skin that always sets her apart from the other aspiring dreamers in Palawan.

Jessarie Dumaguing is 23. She finished a degree of Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management from the Palawan State University. She advocates for the promotion of education to the youth. She is also the current Ambassador of Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park (PPSRNP), also known as the Puerto Princesa Underground River (PPUR).

Let’s flit now to a fresh-faced national pageant newbie who is as smoldering hot as any island girl can get. She can potentially follow the footsteps of fellow Palaweña Janicel Lubina.

Jessarie “Black” Dumaguing is a 23-year old from the province of Palawan. She graduated Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management at the Palawan State University.

She held the titles of Miss STRASUC Olympics 2015 and Binibining MIMAROPA Festival Queen 2017. She is currently the ambassador of Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park (PPSRNP), also known as the Puerto Princesa Underground River (PPUR). It is a responsibility given to her by the City of Puerto Princesa last November 2018 after she was crowned as the Subaraw Festival Queen 1st Runner-up.

Also known as “Black” by her co-models, friends, former teachers and classmates; she possesses a great stage presence whenever participating in pageants or strutting her stuff on the runway. Just like her alias, she is not only a dark horse but also a crowd favorite.

Jessarie stands 5’7″ and advocates for the promotion of education to the younger generation.

“When I first met you, I honestly didn’t know you were going to be this important to me. Now, everything I’ve never done I want to do it with you..l love you my chubby.”Those are the words straight out of Bb. Pilipinas International 2015 Janicel Lubina when she started posting photos about her vacation in the US at the moment. And the timing couldn’t be more apt since she celebrated her birthday (April 2) in the arms of her special someone James Valera, a Fil-Am based in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Janicel deserves to be this happy with her love life. We all know the responsibilities she had to shoulder for the longest time being the breadwinner of the family back in Palawan. And now that her brother Dante has already graduated, she can ease up on the duties to focus on romantic matters of the heart.

You all know NY now that Toni Alyessa Hipolito underwent the most unique reign of an international beauty competition when she was offered the 2016 crown of Miss Globe International which did not take place during its intended dates late last year. She accepted the appointment inspite of not having a crowning moment to look back to. Neither did she enjoy any luxury of travel in the process.

But now she will. Formally as the reigning titleholder.

Yesterday afternoon, a Meet-and-Greet Press Conference was held at Scatter MNL where members of the media were informed of the upcoming departure for Anatolia, Turkey to crown her successor in the 2017 edition next month. In fact, she is very likely to spend Christmas abroad. And she doesn’t mind. After all, she waited long enough for this moment. She was promised to be given her cash prize for being the 2016 appointee, plus a collection of jewelry to come with it.

Present during the event were Bb. Pilipinas International 2015 Janicel Lubina, Rodgil Flores and Gio Lazaro Flores of KF plus Officers and members of JCI International who sponsored the Presscon.

When Bb. Pilipinas International 2015 Janicel Lubina, Bb. Pilipinas Supranational 2014 Yvethe Santiago, Bb. Pilipinas 2014 1st Runner-Up Laura Lehmann and Bb. Pilipinas 2015 1st Runner-Up Hannah Ruth Sison were brought by David’s Salon for their first overseas hair fashion shoot in the Affinage Australia HQs in Brisbane, little did they know about the actual difficulty levels of the project they signed up for.

In particular, Laura (according to David’s Salon Marketing Manager Lotte Villarosa-Agraviador) underwent the most complex (and cry-worthy) hair transformation as it took practically the whole day to achieve what the brand has assigned for her final look. I was also told that any hair care professional-wannabe cannot single-handedly do what a team of professionals toiled over. Hannah had the easiest procedure because the two-colored braids were not as complicated to accomplish. Yvethe had a relatively trying time as well but not to the point of almost wearing her out. Lastly, Janicel looked like she had the hardest-to-achieve hair, but it actually was not as demanding as the rest.

So now, may I present to you the Mermaid Hair Collection of David’s Salon in cooperation with Affinage Australia.

Their reigns may be over, but the individual activities continue as winners of Bb. Pilipinas 2015. In this latest shot uploaded by ace photographer Raymond Saldaña, Bb. Pilipinas International Janicel Lubina, Bb. Pilipinas Supranational Rogelie Catacutan and Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental Christi Lynn McGarry are shown in one frame wearing Leo Almodal, Cary Santiago and Albert Andrada, respectively.

Janicel was last seen participating in the Flores de Maria 2016 in Sta. Cruz, Laguna. Rogelie, on the other hand, went deeper down south as judge of Mister Zamboanga Peninsula. And of course, we all know thst Christi is one of the three endorsers of Bragais Brides.

From this point, all three ladies can now move on with relatively normal lives but still carrying the Bb. Pilipinas titles they won as “badges” they can use to continue in spreading their personal causes and/or accepting public appearances and projects.

Her reign as Bb. Pilipinas International 2015 may be over, but Janicel Lubina is moving ahead according to her own working pace. She is picking up all the opportunities that come knocking at her door with a grateful heart. And knowing how hardworking she is as an individual, the chances of getting offers from different corners are bright. It could be pageant judging, personal appearances, TV guesting or, just like last night, as “sagala” (flower maiden) of Designer Sony Boy Mindo for the 37th Flores de Mayo 2016 at the SM Mall of Asia. The possibilities are just there for the picking.

Janicel may no longer have the chance to pursue any other pageant channels (the risks far outweigh the potential benefits), but she is looking beyond the crown and taking all the options with an open mind and a generous (to her family in Palawan) heart.

It was a successful fashion event last night at B Hotel in Quezon City when Designer Kim Gan unveiled her latest collection of Gakuya/Seishun which is very Japanese-inspired but filled with a lot of unique touches only she can come up with.
