Notice the black ribbon beside the logo? I’m not really sure what it means, but it could refer in a way to the removal of the Miss Venezuela World (Mundo) sash from the roster of its titles. According to one reader, though, it is an act of condolence for the tragic death of several locals in an oil refinery explosion in Amuay.

The 24 Official Candidates of Miss Venezuela 2012-13
If news reports are accurate, Miss Venezuela 2012-13 could go down the country’s winning and colorful pageant history as the first edition to do without the Miss Venezuela Mundo (World) title. This development is due to the constant pressure of MWO’s Julia Morley to hold a separate (or independent if you will) competition which will select the representative to Miss World instead of a smorgasbord set of winners for different pageants abroad. As a result, there still remain three major crowns to be won – Miss Venezuela Universo (Universe), Miss Venezuela Internacional (International) and Miss Venezuela Tierra (Earth). I’m not certain if Osmel Sousa will still hold the Miss World franchise (Miss World 2011 Ivian Sarcos is allegedly working to get it), but if you ask me, it should stay with the Master regardless.

Peninsula Goajira’s Rociree Silva
Anyways, here are my Top 10 choices for tonight’s finals. One girl in particular performed so well during the preliminaries that she soared to the highest tier in my predicitons. She is Peninsula Goajira’s Rociree Silva. This girl was a true standout during the Gala and all other events. She also won the Special Award of El Cabello Mas Radiante. And I can state that she is a solid contender for one of the titles at stake. She could go for Universe, but I can also see her for either International or Earth.

Miranda’s Oriana Luchesse
Another candidate leading the way in my predictions is Orianna Luchesse of Miranda. This amazing beauty was awarded Best Face in preliminaries and for obviously valid reasons at that. Standing at 1.77m, she has all the standout qualities we all expect from a Venezuelan beauty queen – tall, fair, vibrant and gorgeous.
So let’s go now to the third lady in my Top 5. She is Alyz Henrich representing Falcon. Having won Miss Belleza Integral (Integral Beauty) during the Gala, she has maintained her status as one of the frontrunners among the 24 contenders. Coming in as #4 on my list is Distrito Capital’s Daniela Chalbaud – recipient of the Miss con la Piel más linda (Most Beautiful Skin) and by far, the classiest one in the batch if you ask me.

Falcon’s Alyz Henrich

Distrito Capital’s Daniela Chalbaud

Zulia’s Noedy Oliveros
Rounding up my top half is Noedy Oliveros of Zulia, winner of Miss Personalidad during the Gala. Previously, she occupied the same spot in my initial rankings. She neither moved up nor slipped down. The fierceness in her features prevents me from assigning her to a title. But who knows? She might surprise everyone with an endearing personality in the finals and eventually become a winner.
And so, the lower half of my Top 10 guesses are shown below in order of preference:

Clockwise from top: Bolivar’s Keilys Rivero, Lara’s Vicmary Rivero, Tachira’s Ivanna Vale, Barinas’ Maria Teresa Solano and Monagas’ Angela Ducallin.
Keilys Rivero fell from my Top 5 for reasons that she is responsible for. Her presentation outside of photographs lacked the spark that can live up to the strong delegates in the group. Nevertheless, she still is a long shot to make it to the top. The four Venezuelans completing my Top 10 are: Angela Ducallin of Monagas, Vicmary Rivero of Lara, Maria Teresa Solano of Barinas and Ivanna Vale of Tachira.
In the final placements of my armchair judging, I have fearlessly judged my selections as follows:

L-R: Distrito Capital, Peninsula Goajira, Miranda, Falcon, Zulia
Miss Venezuela Universe 2012-13 – Orianna Luchesse of Miranda
Miss Venezuela International 2012-13 – Rociree Silva of Peninsula Goajira
Miss Venezuela Earth 2012-13 – Alyz Henrich of Falcon
Primera Finalista – Daniela Chalbaud of Distrito Capital
Segunda Finalista – Noedy Oliveros of Zulia.
So there! 😉
Note: The finals of Miss Venezuela 2012 will be held at the Salón Naiguatá of Hotel Tamanaco Intercontinental in Caracas. Live streaming will most likely be available (around 7-8am Friday, Manila time).
