Below is a quote from the article from Pep.PH about Sandra Lemonon’s social media announcement of her retirement from pageants:
“Maybe I shall not be in a pageant arena but I am sure I am on my own path & all the hardships/blessings that lead me to where I am today will help me be where I need to be with you by my side I will never have a dim light in my heart, I promise.”

When Provincial Pageants start taking on national feels, it only means that they are prepared to stage beauty competitions that approximate, if not surpass, national counterparts. There are actually many key areas in the Philippines that have already shown that they can do it.
Miss Kuyamis of the Province of Misamis Oriental is one such effort. What started out as a sub-event of the annual Kuyamis Festival five years ago has now become a grand celebration of ExploreMisOr’s Beauty and Tourism thrusts.

With the announcement of BPCI that Bb. Pilipinas will have its Grand Coronation Night on April 17, can we now see more than a glimmer of hope for Aya Abesamis to represent the country in Miss Grand International which will have its finals on March 27?
Fingers crossed! 🤞

With today’s start of the Photo Exhibit of the Bb. Pilipinas 2020 candidates in their National Costumes and the Finals Night set for April 17, allow me to share my favorites among them. I picked this eight (8) for various reasons as briefly described below:
Paolo Ballesteros for #Binibini29 Honey Cartasano: Very inventive, larger than life and with the best cultural inspiration used for a NatCos;
Macoy Elipane for #Binibini26 Czarina Guiao and the duo of Jun-g Bayona Candelario and Brent Naranja for #Binibini21 Thea Cenarosa: Pageant-theatrical with the wow factor that would make them stand out onstage and even in a parade;
Nick Guarino with Festivali Designs and Concepts for #Binibini12 Maureen Montagne: Meticulously crafted like a complex jigsaw puzzle assembled face down with the finished product showing a highly professional artisan feel;
Jomar Peralta for #Binibini36 Vickie Marie Rushton: Dreamy and magical like a character straight out of a fairy tale coming to life;
Ken Adrienne Batino and Jevin Salaysay for #Binibini23 Gabrielle Basiano: Whimsical without going overload; the focus is balanced equally between the wearer and the elements of the kalesa;
Edwin Uy for #Binibini14 Hazel Ortiz: simple lines that are both elegant and refined like a throwback to pageant Filipinianas of yesteryears given a modern twist;
Basha Subijano for #Binibini34 Mercedes Pair: Like a celebratory cake that is baked and decorated right, this flowery creation is executed with the right amount of ambition and creativity.

Behold your #Binibini22 Dr. Ruth Erika Quin in her Bb. Pilipinas National Costume created by Erjohn Dela Serna:
Inspired by the rich and vast rice fields found in Nueva Ecija, it is just apt to pay homage to the Rice Granary of the Philippines.
The costume reflects the graceful and radiant presence of “palay” in Cabanatuan City. This industry has provided jobs for many and food for most of Luzon island. The bodice is fully-sequined with palay-embossed beads. Same with the headdress, the Palay deserves a spot as the Queen’s crown.
The fully-beaded trail represents the rice fields. As it starts of as green seedling, it eventually grows taller when cultivated properly. Eventually, it bends down with its rice at its best golden tone, ready for harvest. It reminds us to be persistent and humble at the same time.

Lea’s first national pageant was Miss Philippines Earth 2018 where she represented Dinalupihan, Bataan.
Behold your #Binibini34 Mercedes Pair in her Bb. Pilipinas National Costume created by Basha “Poi” Subijano:
The Queen of Philippine Folk Dance – “Bulaklakan”
On Mercedes is a costume inspired by the famous Filipino folk dance “Bulaklakan”.
“Bulaklakan” or the dance of flowers is usually held during the month of May in the Philippines as this is the month known when flowers bloom at its best.
We hold a garland of leaves and flowers attached to a wire, bamboo or rattan so that the garland will arch when held overhead and we usually gently sway these arcs of garlands to gracefully give honor to Virgin Mary.
The designer of this national costume, Ms Poi Subijano, came up with the idea using vibrant colors to represent the joyful culture of the Philippines.
The bodice of this costume is a Filipiniana Butterfly Sleeves adorned with precious pearls from south sea. Spanish lace were used for the top fabric and the flamboyant skirt is filled with flowers to signify festivity and glamour.
