A Miss Universe delegate does not compete in the pageant just for her personal gain. A more important objective is to do so for the love of flag and country. Nothing is more rewarding and fulfilling than claiming victory with the full support of your countrymen.
The Asian delegates (including Guam) may have varying degrees of cheers and fanaticism from their respective supporters, but the common goal is always to push and motivate their representatives to be the best they can be in achieving the top prize.
I can’t remember the last time a Miss Universe pictorial had the ladies and their flags as theme. It sure is giving everyone more reasons to vote and back-up. 😉
Miss Philippines Ariella Arida (with Russian singer Emin to her left) is surrounded by Filipino OFWs in Moscow.
Trust Filipinos around the world to follow the star of their heralded fellowmen and show unconditional love and support. Miss Philippines Ariella Arida is experiencing that right now. In practically all appearances of the Miss Universe 2013 delegates that are open to the public, she is always surrounded by their presence – cheering, smiling, engaging in small talks and asking for photo ops.
During the auction event held yesterday, the scenario never changed. The Pinoys milled around Ariella. Even Russian singer Emin got caught in all the ‘picture-picture’ frenzy. And as you can see, her ravishing beauty continues to shine through. 😉
You know it when someone and something has created such a trending quip or act when even non-Tagalog speakers are amused with the sound a rooster makes in the wee hours of Philippine rural mornings.
Who knew that the often-ignored ‘provincial alarm’ would become a word of mouth amidst Miss Universe season? And I bet Miss Philippines Ariella Arida thought of making up that part at the spur of the moment, not even expecting that it would bring her web interview towards the most number of likes on YouTube.
And with that, I will segue to the online voting for our bet. You might have gotten tired of doing so.
Let that rooster cry rally everyone to a renewed enthusiasm to VOTE. 😉
Miss Philippines Ariella Arida with MUO's Paula Shugart
In a pageant like Miss Universe, social networking is important, especially when the important individuals are just within an arm’s reach. And while many may consider the photo op between Miss Philippines Ariella Arida and MUO (Miss Universe Organization) President Paula Shugart as just a quickie that will pass as soon as the camera clicks are over and done with, it will surprise most that such encounters tend to prove worthwhile. The likelihood of being remembered during crucial moments of preliminary deliberations will always linger in the minds of those who matter. And Paula is one of them.;-)
I must admit that only a handful of the Miss Universe 2013 Truth-and-Dare interviews are convincing enough to have them cited here. After objectively viewing Miss Philippines Ariella Arida’s turn, I started looking for natural charm and spontaneity without sounding pretentious. Also, the luck of picking the better questions and tasks from the fishbowl is a big factor. So now, here are the six videos I personally liked, starting with Miss Czech Republic, Gabriela Kratochvilova. The kooky side of her personality is cute.
Now, let’s look at Miss Venezuela, Gabriela Isler. Her sisterly aura shines without really trying.
Ok, Carey Ng of Malaysia got the same Truth question Ariella did and her overall aura is quite pleasant. Besides, her Dare task is not the easiest. Spinning around 10 times can be very dizzying.
Norway’s Mari Ekelof gave a good answer to her Truth question and a pig noise that is a natural part of her personality for Dare.
There’s something about Betty Omara that makes me want to know her even more. This Tanzanian speaks and projects with a tempered sophisticated vibe that is both refreshing and fashionable.
Lastly, Amy Willerton of Great Britain is poised but relaxed and honest enough. Her cookie challenge is better (just like how Nicaragua did hers) than most who picked the same.
This year’s theme for the Miss Universe 2013 web interview is Truth and Dare. While I’m a bit iffy about it, the concept should bring out the sense of humor and game attitude of each candidate.
So how do you size up Miss Philippines Ariella Arida in her truth and dare? Do you find her chicken mimic funny? Tiktilaok! instead of just balk-balk-balk-balk-balk? That made me give out a hearty smile. She is the most poised chicken ever. 🙂
Please do tell. 😉
Here’s my truth part about it. Ariella is lucky to have picked up that Dare task instead of something like ‘draw with your eyes closed’ because the effect is quick and endearing.

During the recent send-off for Miss Grand Philippines 2013 Ali Forbes, our bet displayed the National Costume she will wear in Bangkok for Miss Grand International 2013. Complete with a headdress made up of three huge clay pots, she will definitely catch attention especially when you look at the sexy-looking attire that comes with it.
Ali is scheduled to leave for the Land of Smiles any day now. Let us wish her luck as she tries to add another crown to the country’s collection for 2013.
If you are an Ariella Arida supporter, or simply a Filipino who is proud of her representing us in Miss Universe 2013, then watch the emotionally hair-raising video below which has beautifully collected all the fansigns (even from foreigners) for her from all over the world.
When Miss Philippines Ariella Arida visited the Moscow Children’s Hospital together with Olivia Culpo and other candidates, they were were asked to wear something that would completely wrap their footwears (Chinese Laundry’s Tippy Tops for most). These are called medical shoe covers* One would think that this is something uniquely Russian. On the contrary, it’s a completely global practice in hospitals and the like.
* – Medical shoe covers are required in most areas of the health care industry. They help prevent the spread of germs and infection, and also keep a tight lid on organisms from outside of sterile environments that could harm people with compromised immune systems.

We all know that charity is not the best suit of Miss Universe. That’s where Miss World shines. But it doesn’t mean a complete absence of the same in Donald Trump’s handiwork. In fact, some of the ladies – including Miss Philippines Ariella Arida – took time out to visit a section of the Moscow Children’s Hospital to bring cheer to some of its young patients suffering from various (non-contagious) illnesses.

Together with reigning winner Olivia Culpo plus Misses Czech Rep Gabriela Kratochvilova, Kazakhstan Aygerim Khozhakanova and Azerbaijan Aysel Manafova, Ariella brought some sunshiny presence to the children who can only look with awe at the beautiful ladies surrounding them. I reckon that -fingers crossed – this institution could be one of the beneficiaries of the pageant’s auction event.
Hi! Norman here. When I'm not working, I spend most of my free time planning on daily blogs. If you will notice, I always make sure that a fresh topic comes out everyday - not an easy thing to do but it's all good. Thanks for dropping by and enjoy the visit!
