Venus is the closest after she correctly predicted Colombia and USA as 1 and 2, respectively.
First off, l only considered the predictions sent by email to firstname.lastname@example.org and with corresponding address and contact details. So for those who posted theirs as a reply in one of the blog announcements about “Predict the 63rd Miss Universe Pageant and her 4 Runners-up”, I did not include your guesses anymore. Sorry.
Among the four hundred eighteen (418) emailed entries, nobody got all the five correct placements right. When I was checking all the predictions, I separated all the ones with Miss Colombia Paulina Vega as winner. And there were only eleven (11). From this small bunch, the runners-up were all misses in rankings. But one actually had Miss USA Nia Sanchez as her 1st Runner-up.
And so, the winner of our prediction contest is Venus L. Otomo from Cavite. She is now the proud owner of a brand new Zenfone 5 and P1,500 shopping voucher from Bench (I had to switch from SM Store due to a small glitch). I already emailed Venus about the win and hopefully, she can drop by the office in Makati to pick up the prizes.
MW2013 Megan Young wore this Leo Almodal number during the opening of Miss World 2014
A piece from the Spring/Summer 2015 Collection of Eric delos Santos for PFW
Since our local talents seem to be so much in fashion nowadays, I thought it best to feature two of the more beauty queen-identified designers who have selflessly shared their creations to our pageant representatives in international competitions.
There is Leo Almodal who, of late, has dressed up the likes of Miss World 2013 Megan Young, Miss International 2013 Bea Rose Santiago, Miss Earth 2014 Jamie Herrell and, most recently, Miss Universe Philippines 2014 MJ Lastimosa (remember that pink gown during rehearsals? )
And then, we also have my good friend Eric Delos Santos who has lent his expertise also to Miss World 2013 Megan Young, plus Miss World Philippines 2014 Valerie Weigmann, Bb. Pilipinas International 2014 Bianca Guidotti, Miss World Philippines 2012 Queenie Rehman and Miss Universe 2013 3rd Runner-Up Ara Arida.

Your Binibini 34 Wyn Marquez
When Teresita Sen “WynWyn” Marquez screened for, qualified and got pinned as Binibini 34 in Bb. Pilipinas 2015, not a few eyebrows were raised by the decision. Here is a showbiz personality who has a TV career that – while not on top of the game – has remained active and constantly involved in a string of projects that honed her talents in acting and dancing. She never runs out of assignments. Of late, she has been typecasted in villainess roles – a character 180 degrees from how down-to-earth she is in real life.
Nowadays, Wyn’s life has been relatively more relaxed compared to her hectic showbiz schedules. The physical demands of the pageant are nothing compared to the overnight tapings and daily rehearsals at GMA-7. And that helps her maintain a more beautiful and fully-rested aura. Will she nail a win in the March 15 finals? We’ll see…
Know more about Wyn by watching this interview she had with Tim Yap during the latter’s midnight show. 😉

Your Binibini 6 Toni Hipolito
Toni by Jonas Yu
Toni hopes that she will be more blessed in Bb. Pilipinas this time around. Our Binibini 6 is all-out in fighting her way to the top. And with the guidance of her new camp (KF), she knows that things can only turn out for the better. Or – fingers-crossed – the best. 😉

Above is my first “Twelve To Triumph” list for Bb. Pilipinas 2015
This much I can say.
The Official Candidates of Bb. Pilipinas 2015 are giving me a chronic headache. Just when I thought a right first combo would be perfect, another one would mess things up and juggle the standings in my head. But don’t get me wrong. I’m loving the beautiful confusion. It makes for a really tough group of contenders to assess.
This batch is a very good one – a rich mix of repeaters/crossovers and fresh faces who are both very competitive and capable of clinching a national title. And so, for my first “Twelve To Triumph” list, I am including a relatively easy ranking of my running favorites without intellectualizing too much on their individual plus points for consideration. Hence, consider this a quick round-up of the beauties based on what they can offer to the random spectator who may catch all of them in public or during a personal appearance.
Pia Wurtzbach and Hannah Ruth Sison offer instant face familiarity, and gorgeous ones at that. Janicel Lubina is the Pinay looker who can make heads turn fast. But Alaiza Malinao is the presence that exudes facial beauty, regal presence and imposing aura altogether – one of this year’s most promising challengers.
These are my dozen picks for January 31. A week from now, the second list will come out with expected movements.
Watch out for it! 😉
Sizzling and smoldering, that’s Patricia Lae Ejercitado for you.
Your Binibini 30 Pat Ejercitado
In this, Patricia Lae Ejercitado’s third and final attempt to nail a crown in the nationals, she made sure that all bases continue to be covered. After switching beauty camps from R-L Angels to Kagandahang Flores, she also exudes that extra exotic vibe in person. Yesterday, she commanded a duskier presence that can easily catch anyone’s attention upon first glance. I liked what I saw.
But then again, she needs to work harder in this batch. The mix of old-timers and newcomers are close to exceptional. It’s like no one among them will ever let up in the race for the crown. And since it’s now-or-never for Pat, she has to give it all that she’s got. I really hope she does. 😉
Will Patricia’s luck turn all positive this 2015?
