You’ve seen her compete in two editions of Bb. Pilipinas. The first one was back in 2014 and the latest last 2017 when she made it to the Top 25 cut. Since then, she focused on work first when she applied for, trained and successfully became a Flight Attendant for Air Asia – a job which she is doing up to the present.
Vanessa Saliba is now 24 years old. She is seriously considering joining one last time to see if third time could be a charm. And this Fil-Lebanese is getting herself psyched up for the possibilities. She knows that there are risks to consider, but if the dream to win a good crown is strong enough, then she will defy the odds coming her way.
Emma Mary Tiglao of Pampanga struggled to earn her stripes during the first three major national pageants – Mutya ng Pilipinas 2012, Bb. Pilipinas 2014 and Miss World Philippines 2015 – that she took part in. She was either a runner-up or finalist but never the crowned titleholder. She even took the risk of joining a lesser-known contest last year – Miss Midori Clark – where she placed 1st Runner-Up.
But not the type who would bow down to one defeat or two, she constantly stood up, reinvented her image and presented renewed versions of herself every single time. She has definitely paid her dues in national pageantry and it was only a matter of time before she would collect a handsome reward in the form of a Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental crown which she claimed last Sunday night.
Emma has grown in front of our pageant-loving eyes. And what she has shown all throughout the Bb. Pilipinas 2019 competition is that she can do all things with a lot of grace and patience. She never lost footing every step of the way. Maybe she wasn’t the choice of many for the highest title of Miss Universe Philippines, but definitely a deserving recipient of any of the five other crowns at stake.
This Kapampangan beauty will have the tough assignment of preparing for one of two back-to-back victory missions for the Philippines. But with Karen Gallman as the reigning Miss Intercontinental, she will receive all the precious advices and support in order to conquer the 48th Miss Intercontinental with the heart of a fighter.
During last Sunday night’s finals of Miss World Philippines 2017 at the Mall of Asia Arena, a reunion of (almost all) the Bb. Pilipinas 2014 winners happened when Bianca Guidotti (International), Kris Tiffany Janson (Intercontinental), Yvethe Santiago (Supranational), Parul Shah (Tourism) and Hannah Ruth Sison (2nd Runner-Up) became like the cheering squad for their baby sister Laura Lehmann who eventually took home the crown. It was a welcome sight indeed as they boosted the morale of their 1st Runner-Up.
How I wish MJ Lastimosa was there to complete the group.
Four of the rumored familiar faces who are considering Miss World Philippines 2017 as their next pageant route
Talks are starting to get louder about the ladies who are planning/considering to join Miss World Philippines 2017. While nothing is set in stone for their eventual signing-up yet, there are discussions in pageant circles that four of the potential enlisters are as follows:
1) Laura Victoria Lehmann – Bb. Pilipinas 2014 1st Runner-Up and ABS-CBN Sports Courtside Reporter
2) Janela Joy Cuaton – Mutya ng Pilipinas Tourism Metropolitan International 2016 and Miss Tourism Metropolitan International 2016 1st Runner-Up
3) Jona Sweett – Miss Philippines Earth Eco-Tourism 2015 and the muse of Caticlan-based Fashion Designer Adriano Samar
4) Steffi Rose Pearson Aberasturi – the Cebu-based beauty who comes from the popular Aberasturi clan. She was crowned Reyna ng Aliwan 2014 where she represented the Sinulog Festival
As I have stated above, their possible joining is not 100% so far, but coming close to it if all things fall in the right places in the weeks to come.

Your Binibini 9 Vanessa Saliba possesses one of the most beautiful faces in the 2017 batch
Back in 2014, Vanessa Saliba was still a fresh-faced 18 year-old newbie in the pageant scene who signed up for Bb. Pilipinas as an Independent. Now, the more beautifully leveled-up young lass has returned to the nationals, armed with all the training and development sessions she went through with Aces & Queens. She knows better than to be just one of the pretty faces. And she now possesses a more distinct confidence amd maturity to step up to the demands of the competition as your Binibini 9.
Here is what Vanessa shared with me:
“I am Vanessa Saliba – of Fil-Lebanese mix, 21 years of age and representing Tanay, Rizal. I graduated from Our Lady of Fatima University with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Travel Management. I’ve worked as an sales associate in a company that supplies interior design finishes and now I am working as a print and fashion model.
I am so happy to be an official candidate of Bb. Pilipinas for the second time around and I am so overwhelmed with all the love and support I have been receiving from my family, friends and supporters. This time. I am more prepared because of the trainings and guidance of my Aces & Queens family. Believe me, I am most ready to get one of the crowns. 🙂”

For the terno competition of Bb. Pilipinas 2017, Vanessa will be dressed up my friend-designer Claiza Bihasa who is making a truly beautiful Filipiniana with an elegant wow factor. And she is all the more excited to go through all pre-pageant events now. Will she be more successful as a second-timer?
The Pride of Balagtas, Bulacan in Bb. Pilipinas 2017 – Sarah Asido, your Binibini 14
When Sarah Jireh Cruz Asido first joined Bb. Pilipinas last 2014, she was still a part of the Team JDV camp under John dela Vega. She was 23 years old back then.
This year, the Balagtas, Bulacan native will return for her second and last attempt at a Bb. Pilipinas crown as a member of Kagandahang Flores.
So how does she feel now about her second appearance as a Binibini?
“I am beyond blessed for getting this opportunity again. I have prayed and waited three long years for this. I waited for God’s yes before I decided to join again. Everything really fell into place. During my realization process, I had injuries in my foot and that almost discouraged me to get back on the pageant track. I was in so much pain but I know that this is just a test of faith and determination on how strong my desires are. The Lord places me in hard situations to see how tough and willing I am to go beyond everything just to fulfill my dream of a crown. This time, I am stronger, wiser, and a determined winner. Yes I am because the Lord is with me and I am so blessed for whatever injuries I had, I am still here.”
Sarah is a Bulakenya who reigned as Binibining Bulacan Turismo 2013. She went back to teaching after Bb. Pilipinas 2014. She handles the subjects of Personal Development and Philippine Politics & Governance. A proud Thomasian and a Licensed Teacher, she graduated from UST with a Bachelor degree in Secondary Education, major in Social Studies, while doubling it up with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences. She has done several hosting jobs in the province as well as becoming an active member of a movement that caters to people who are in need. One of the projects she handles was entertainment by holding variety/game shows in the different barangays. She also aims to be an inspirational/motivational speaker. She enjoys talking to people immensely.
An active Volleyball trainer, Sarah’s main advocacy at the moment is centered on the Lingkod LGBT for the 1st District of Bulacan.

Let’s see if the version of Sarah for 2017 is miles ahead of what she presented to us three years back. 🙂
Vanessa Saliba, barely 21 and a Bb. Pilipinas second-timer
You remember Vanessa Saliba, right? She was Binibini 37 during Bb. Pilipinas 2014 who surprised pageant watchers when – at 18 and still an independent applicant – made it to that year’s roster. That was more than a handful of experience for this young lass who just celebrated her debut months before going into the nationals.
Fast forward to 2017, and Vanessa returns to the field – more mature and stunningly beautiful at 21. As part of Aces & Queens Class of 2017, she was singled out by many during the Presentation Show as possessing one of the loveliest faces in the group. It amuses me to recall that a group of straight guys who watched the mock pageant unanimously picked her as one of their top choices. And I couldn’t agree more because she is indeed a refreshing presence especially when I approached her for some small talk then.
Vanessa will join the beeline for BPCI before Friday, along with her camp sisters. And I am positive that she will have a second serving of Bb. Pilipinas on her plate very soon! 🙂
Will 2nd time be a charm for Vanessa in Bb. Pilipinas?
Wanna see a return of Angelique de Leon to the Bb. Pilipinas stage?
At 26, Angelique Celine de Leon has only up to Bb. Pilipinas 2017 as her one final attempt to achieve the pageant glory that has escaped her grasp in 2014 and last year. And this lovely and articulate lady is being talked about as making the big move to a new camp – from RL to KF, I was told. Are you ready to see her third appearance at the Smart Araneta Coliseum this summer?
I’m game for Angelique de Leon 3.0. She has definitely leveled up from the first to the second. And this year could be her best ever.
Could 2017 be the Year Laura Lehmann is waiting for?
Laura hosting the Smart/PLDT event for the 65th Miss Universe
Last night, Arnold Mercado of Aces & Queens posted a teaser of a Facebook update where his only caption of the photo of Laura Lehmann went like: “Are you ready for @iamlauralehmann?“. It was something that was immediately lapped up by all fans and followers of the Bb. Pilipinas 2014 1st Runner-Up as an encouraging indication that she is indeed seriously contemplating on whether to greenlight her joining this year.
Prior to the above, Laura posted a photo in her Instagram account – the one where she was awarded 1st Runner-Up last April 2014 with the caption: “Missing Pageants”.
Will we finally see the return of Laura Victoria Lehmann in the nationals? I bet a lot of you will agree that she will make this batch more competitive. All throughout her low-key pageant years, she has honed her skills in hosting and public speaking. This should prepare her well for the upcoming screenings.
So has the search for Laura Lehmann 2.0 finally ended? Your guess is as good as mine! 😀
