With no official statement on her formal installation as Bb. Pilipinas Grand International, I guess we can rely on the organizers’ recent post indicating that Aya Abesamis is now recognized as such.
Someone told me that she was already issued an official letter by BPCI regarding the promotion.
These ladies are truly #BeyondBeauty.
Here are photos of Bb. Pilipinas 2019 Queens Leren Mae M. Bautista and Aya Abesamis helping out in the packing and distribution of relief goods for families affected by the Taal eruption.
No gowns or heels or heavy makeups. Just plain goodness of heart to help out.
But the real heroes behind this effort are Mrs Regz Luancing Gibson and MakMak Luancing who helped in mobilizing the drive to collect funds for the relief operation.
To accommodate some planned changes in the pageant format and to better support our advocacy agenda, we have decided to extend the deadline for application for Miss Universe Philippines 2020 until January 31, 2020.

Since we’re in the subject of MUP2020, information reached me (from a reliable source) that all applicants should have already completed at least a 6-month residency stay in the country prior to application. Bummer for those Fil-Ams or Fil-Europeans who have not fulfilled that requirement yet.
I seldom chat with a lady for the first time where the subject matter revolved around how I started blogging and what books and movies inspired me to create a signature writing style. That is exactly what happened during my first online encounter with Asha Gutierrez. And boy, did I enjoy it. I have already seen and observed her in person – enough to encourage me to make an entry about this thinking beauty whose name in Sanskrit means “wish, desire, hope”.
Asha is not your typical pageant joiner. She has the mix of an introverted/artistic personality with an occasional outward leaning. She is a writer and entrepreneur who loves to dance Salsa and Latin. Before graduating from the De La Salle University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Literature, she was an active athlete who trained with the national team in not just one, but two sports – basketball and boxing. Priority was given to her studies, though. The closest she returned to either of the two disciplines was when she took on Assistant Coach duties to young students.
Back to her name which – in Sanskrit – means “wish, desire, hope”, Asha got her baptism of fire in pageantry when she joined Miss World Philippines 2019. It was like coming out her shell, so to speak. She followed this up with Global Asian Model Philippines shortly after just so she can make a good comparison of the two different competitions. The experience made her realize that beauty contests are better suited to her liking because she can express herself more as a potential Beauty Queen than going deeper into the world of runway shows, editorial shoots and the like.
The wish stems from this point – to join another national pageant in 2020 given the desire to win a crown. Hopefully, she is fated to have one of her own. Sooner or later. And with this, I end with a quote from one of my favorite authors Daphne du Maurier:
”A dreamer, I walked enchanted, and nothing held me back.”
Katarina Rodriguez could be the poster girl of inked beauty queens in the Philippines
This is one question that will potentially separate the open-minded readers from those with double standards on the matter.
Personally, I don’t mind seeing tattoos on our beauty queens. It makes them more sexy, aside from having minds of their own in terms of how to freely express themselves – be it on any part of their body or outside.
How about you?
How do you feel about tats on beautiful ladies who aspire to be Official Candidates in our national pageants this 2020?
Inked ladies: Rachel Peters, Celeste Cortesi, Sandra Lemonon and Beatrice Luigi Gomez
Here at normannorman.com, I always try my best to feature a variety of beautiful Filipinas who are being wooed to join any of the national pageants this year. For today, we have our second short-haired beauty who has already had her fair share of competitions last 2019. She is definitely exotic if you prefer someone in that mold. And having gained training and polish in her presentation skills, she could really be a good inclusion in the already long list of aspirants.
Donna took part in two pageants previously. First, she was in the initial staging of Ambassador & Ambassadress of the Philippines International where her modeling/runway skills were further honed. And then, she joined Miss Scuba Philippines 2019 where she was exposed to the real world of beauty contests aside from gaining knowledge in marine advocacy and scuba diving.
By now, this La Union-hailing lass (who also takes roots in Tagudin, Ilocos Sur) has earned the right experience and confidence to suit up for either Bb. Pilipinas or Mutya Pilipinas. She might even be an excellent fit for Miss Philippines Earth.
Regardless of where she ends up signing for, Donna will be an effortless physical standout. She just needs to prove that her beauty is complemented by a voice to speak out her cause and express her views more persuasively.
Mutya Pilipinas Queen Tyra Goldman has safely arrived in Hurghada, Egypt to join the other ladies vying for Top Model of the World at the Meraki Resort. She appears to be in high spirits for the competition. And with the activities becoming more photo-intense the coming days, she is psyching herself up for the demands. There are many beautiful contenders in her company. But a natural and youthful vibe should set her apart from the rest.
Good luck, Tyra!
