Jennifer Hammond by Raymond Saldaña
This coming Sunday, October 16, will be judgment night for Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental 2016 Jennifer Hammond when she will find out if her game plan has weaved its magic in the competition and hopefully become our very first Miss Intercontinental. We all know that the homestretch of any beauty contest is the most crucial. More than a few eager National Directors will start flying in to lobby for their respective candidates. Discussions during breakfast will be telling once the contest organizers are joined in the table by the more aggressive handlers. So how will this factor in once all possibilities have been figured out by our representative?
At the end of the day, fate is a deciding factor – fate with a dash of good luck and public relations. Miss Intercontinental is a business first and foremost. And if the collective strength and social media-spreading power of the Filipinos is given enough weight, then that should push the name of Miss Intercontinental back to the pedestal where it was placed by a lot of support from the Filipinos during the edition when Kris Tiffany Janson placed 2nd Runner-Up instead of winning. Of course, we all know how the popularity of Miss Intercontinental waned after the unexpected results of 2014.
Will the stars align for Jennifer this time around? I know that she is giving it her best from the day she landed in Colombo. And she always managed to stand out in all the pre-pageant activities and the like. In fact, she is getting more coverage now than last year’s Christi McGarry who was able to get 1st Runner-Up honors?
Is 2016 the right year for a Filipina finally getting a Miss Intercontinental victory? I am positive, barring any surprises that would spoil our expectations once again. I remain very positive. 😉

As 2nd Runner-Up of Miss Intercontinental 2014
With Miss Intercontinental 2015 in full swing, let us do a throwback on our representative last year who came close to winning the crown, also in Magdeburg, Germany. Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental 2014 and Miss Intercontinental 2014 2nd Runner-Up Kris Tiffany Janson was brimming with confidence when she departed for the host country. And all pageant fans and followers were optimistic of her chances to nail our first victory in the said competition. Of course, somewhere along the way, there were persistent rumors of “things” happening in the background. Such talks were initially dismissed up until that fateful finals night when two (2) candidates from Asia-Oceania were called to the magic circle instead of just one. And the rest is debatable pageant history.
Everything’s water under the bridge by now. With Christi Lynn McGarry bannering our country at the moment, our hopes are beginning to grow once more. But let’s give this momentary spotlight to Kris as I encourage you to watch the video below showing her journey from Cebu to Manila to Magdeburg. 🙂

Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental 2015 Christi Lynn McGarry
Just like last year, Magdeburg in Germany will be the host city of Miss Intercontinental 2015 and not Düsseldorf as originally planned. And you know how that place brings back memories of the controversial finals where two ladies from Asia (Patraporn Wang of Thailand and Kris Tiffany Janson of the Philippines) were picked to join the final list that should only include one for each continent. It was quite obvious that our bet, who only wound up 2nd Runner-Up, could have gone higher or even won the crown without another Asian among the finalists. But then again, that’s all murky water under the bridge.
I am hoping for a more distinguished participation of Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental 2015 Christi Lynn McGarry. After all, this will be her 2nd inclusion in a Miss Intercontinental edition. And while the reigning titleholder is a fellow Southeast Asian, there is no reason to prematurely surrender victory. I’m confident our bet will go to Magdeburg brimming with confidence.
So let’s just look forward to how Christi will be unveiled for her potentially 2-in-1 send-off early December or late November.

Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental 2014 and Miss Intercontinental 2014 2nd Runner-Up Kris Tiffany Janson is enjoying a grand vacation in Egypt right now, as part of her placement prize in Magdeburg, Germany. Fresh from her European sojourn, our Queen went home just for a quick change (and appearing during the Presscon for Parul and Ann
) then packed her bags again. She is now enjoying the hospitality of her hosts and making sure that she will see the best parts of Egypt during this trip.
Drop by the Pyramids and ride on a camel, Krissie! 😉

She also found time to reunite with Miss Universe 2012 1st Runner-Up. Bb. Pilipinas International 2014 Bianca Guidotti is still into her NGO commitments after hosting her friend Miss Grand Netherlands 2015 Shauny Bult who was here on a one-month vacation. Bb. ). Bb. Pilipinas Supranational 2014 Yvethe Santiago is spending precious time in Albay with family and friends. Bb. Pilipinas Tourism 2014 Parul Shah is doing pictorials to build up her portfolio and accepting out of town pageant judging invites. 1st Runner-Up Laura Lehmann is busy with her studies at Ateneo de Manila University while accepting occasional modeling shoots (like the photo above which appeared on the Philippine Daily Inquirer yesterday
). And just very recently, 2nd Runner-Up Hannah Ruth Sison (who continues to be part of the 2015 Queens
) proudly celebrated her 27th birthday.
These are just quick updates on our 2014 Bb. Pilipinas Queens for our Sunday lookback. The group photo below gives me such fond memories of this batch. 😉

Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental 2014 Kris Tiffany Janson is currently on her first grand sojourn to London. And our girl is definitely enjoying the sights and the sounds of the city, while trying to get beautifully lost among its crowded streets and historical landmarks.
And do you know what Kris brought along with her to the trip? The old London travel guide that her late father owned and used during a UK visit. Somehow, it makes her feel like somebody special is still watching over her every minute of the day.
Enjoy your 2015 adventures, Kris! 😀

Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental 2014 Kris Tiffany Janson is keeping herself busy with modeling stints, pageant judging and personal appearances nowadays.
I was actually with her for an event more than a week back and she told me about her upcoming trip (around late August) to El Gouna, Red Sea in Egypt to attend the finals of Top Model of the World 2015 as a Special Guest of the organizers. Since the model competition is affiliated with the Miss Intercontinental group where she placed 2nd Runner-Up during the latest edition in Germany, the opportunity is something that could open more doors for contacts and international exposure – the kind that will easily expand her network.
Good luck, Kris!
You know that I have only the best wishes for you, girl. 😉
