During last Sunday night’s finals of Miss World Philippines 2017 at the Mall of Asia Arena, a reunion of (almost all) the Bb. Pilipinas 2014 winners happened when Bianca Guidotti (International), Kris Tiffany Janson (Intercontinental), Yvethe Santiago (Supranational), Parul Shah (Tourism) and Hannah Ruth Sison (2nd Runner-Up) became like the cheering squad for their baby sister Laura Lehmann who eventually took home the crown. It was a welcome sight indeed as they boosted the morale of their 1st Runner-Up.

How I wish MJ Lastimosa was there to complete the group.

When Bb. Pilipinas International 2015 Janicel Lubina, Bb. Pilipinas Supranational 2014 Yvethe Santiago, Bb. Pilipinas 2014 1st Runner-Up Laura Lehmann and Bb. Pilipinas 2015 1st Runner-Up Hannah Ruth Sison were brought by David’s Salon for their first overseas hair fashion shoot in the Affinage Australia HQs in Brisbane, little did they know about the actual difficulty levels of the project they signed up for.

In particular, Laura (according to David’s Salon Marketing Manager Lotte Villarosa-Agraviador) underwent the most complex (and cry-worthy) hair transformation as it took practically the whole day to achieve what the brand has assigned for her final look. I was also told that any hair care professional-wannabe cannot single-handedly do what a team of professionals toiled over. Hannah had the easiest procedure because the two-colored braids were not as complicated to accomplish. Yvethe had a relatively trying time as well but not to the point of almost wearing her out. Lastly, Janicel looked like she had the hardest-to-achieve hair, but it actually was not as demanding as the rest.

So now, may I present to you the Mermaid Hair Collection of David’s Salon in cooperation with Affinage Australia.

Since the Search for Bb. Pilipinas 2017 is now officially open, let me do a Sunday Senti Special feature that will bring you back to January 12, 2014. That was the date when Aces & Queens presented their trained candidates for Bb. Pilipinas 2014 – a very promising list which included Laura Lehmann (who went on to become 1st Runner-Up), Yvethe Santiago (who bagged the Bb. Pilipinas Supranational plum) and Bianca Guidotti (who was crowned Bb. Pilipinas International). Other ladies who formed part of that group were KC Halili (who became Miss Manila) and Hannah dela Guerra (who is now a Star Magic talent for ABS-CBN).

This was Pia Wurtzbach 2.0 – her sophomore effort to win the Miss Universe Philippines sash which went to MJ Lastimosa instead, and the finals night that would go down memory lane as the saddest for now Miss Universe 2015 who crowned the 65th less than a week ago. Such is the test of faith and determination that befell her shoulders three years earlier. Who would have thought that her patience was just being tested, and that more than a year after – in her 3.0 and final Bb. Pilipinas-bound version – that she would finally nail the title of her dreams and become the country’s 3rd Miss Universe in the process.

I used these old photos for this senti feature because we will be flooded with repeaters and crossovers for the 2017 edition. In fact, I have only posted one fresh face so far – Patricia Magtanong – so let’s see which other first-timers will find it in their heart and guts to battle it out with the relatively more polished and experienced ones. 🙂

You don’t usually find a collection of corporate and working uniforms on the runway. So when EsAc Apparel Center presented its latest during the 20th Philippine Fashion Week, it was quite the interesting line-up. There are attires for the office workers, the restaurant staff, the bank teller, the flight attendant, the hotel front office and concierge and more.

And Direk Audie Espino enjoyed this part so much that he posed with the lone male model in red trunks. Lifeguard wear, perhaps? 🙂

Over the weekend, our beauty queens conquered two separate environments where their presence is no longer unusual – at the 20th Philippine Fashion Week held inside Discovery Primea in Makati and during the start of the new Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) at the Smart Araneta Coliseum where four of our reigning beauties were chosen as muses of the participating basketball teams.

On the runway for Designers Pat Santos and Arnold Galang were Angelia Ong, Gwen Ruais, Bianca Guidotti, Yvethe Santiago, Anabel Tia, Cassandra Naidas and Justine Gabionza. And all of them delivered in their respective catwalks in collections that really made them stand out in the line-up.

And over at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, four of our national beauty queens were selected as muses. They held their own side-by-side the showbiz personalities amd models who represented the other squads.

Familiar beautiful faces walked the ramp for Designer Chito Vijandre during the 8th Edition of the Annual Red Cross Charity Ball, the Red Charity Gala at the Shangri-La at the Fort, Manila. Directed by Ari Anover Styled by Noel Manapat HMU by Henri Torres Calayag.

Sneak Peek: Bragais | Underwater and On the Water

In these Ahleks Fusilero photographs, you can see the latest conceptual theme shoot for Bragais where the team went to a private resort and had the models shot wearing the latest heels collection underwater – like mermaids floating and synchronized to present an aquarium show like no other. Truth be told, this turned out to be an intensely demanding pictorial as the natural elements did not fully cooperate. But in the end, everything turned out as expected. And soon, you will see the creative shots with Yvethe Santiago, Cindy Madumma, Pamela Jones and Janelle Olafson plus Gentlemen of the Philippines-Mister Model Intetnational titleholders Arcel Yambing and Job Abogado.

Tonight at 9:30PM, all roads will lead to Discovery Primea – the tallest hotel and rssidential building in Makati City – for Cherry Samuya Veric (Holiday Collection 2016) X Bragais.

This is a much-awaited event that will come as part of Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2016. Cherry and Jojo collaborated on these masterpieces of collection as the former’s latest creations and the latter’s meticulously-crafted heels made exclusively for the same will come together for a fashion gathering that will showcase some of the more talked-about pieces in the days and weeks to come.

Cherry Samuya Veric X Bragais will feature some of the country’s top models and beauty queens including Bb. Pilipinas Supranational 2014 Yvethe Santiago and AsNTM S4’s Alaiza Malinao.

PRESKO. That is the name of the new high-end Fil-Am fashion magazine just recently released in the US with a premiere issue that contains very interesting stories about Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach, the Bb. Pilipinas 2016 winners, Rein Villareal (with a 10-page editorial spread), Gentlemen of the Philippines, Balikbayan Tess Herbst of Teceruma Spa, Best Filipino Restos in the US and many more!

Presko is co-founded by Michael Davantes of Montreal and Velzon Hilzon Velez of New York. Both talented guys have pooled their talents and dreams to come up witb a glossy magazine that can go head-to-head with the other publications in your favorite newsstands or digital hubs.

Your blogger also contributed two (2) articles to this issue – not an easy thing to do considering my non-stop coverages left and rigt. But everything’s good.

For your viewing and appreciation, dear readers – the Bragais™ Bride Wedding Collection as so enchantingly modeled by Bb. Pilipinas Supranational 2014 Yvethe Marie Santiago.

This latest output from my favorite shoemaker and “anak” Jojo Bragais is a step away from the usual pageant platform and tower heels he has been mostly known for the past number of years. The pairs resulted from an inspired take on brides and weddings, especially during this period of the year when the “marry month” of June is fast approaching.
