Miss Universe Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach has become a favorite Yamamay endorser. Aside from being crowned the loveliest in the Universe, she is showing her effective ways as a speaker for the swimsuit (and lingerie) brand. And is she really putting a lot of steam in promoting the same.
Here now is her interview with the people behind Yamamay. There is an overflow of wit and charm. And I bet the owners are loving her to pieces.

What qualities a woman should have to represent a whole nation?
To represent a whole nation is a big responsibility and I believe that some qualities are expected. One must understand what her country or nation is all about. She absorbs everything around her but at the same time, she stands her ground and speaks to her own values and beliefs.
Your career is a dream and an inspiration for many girls. How did you start?
I started as an actress in the Philippines. I enjoyed it very much and up to this day I still think about it. However, the difference with being an actress and being Miss Universe is that as an actress, I play a character that is given to me. As Miss Universe, I am myself. Sounds easy? It’s much more challenging than you think.
Which are your best style inspirations?
It really varies. I love classic styles inspired by Audrey Hepburn and 50s fashion for women. Sometimes, I get inspiration from Japan street style trends and other times I have a more casual style but always with a classic look. I’m never in a sweater or hoodie and depending on the weather, you can usually find me wearing a dress as I own more of them than blouses or pants. Lately, I’ve been a fan of statement accessories such as chokers, rings and shoes. I have also acquired a dangerous obsession with bags.
What do you liked most about this collaboration with Yamamay?
That I get to wear the whole collection before anyone else does! And Yamamay creates swimsuits for every body type. That’s what I like most about them.
Yamamay is an italian brand. What do you like most about our country?
I have yet to visit Italy. I’ve heard many beautiful stories about it. In photos, it is stunning and I can’t wait for the day I get to be there and feel Italy! My first stop? Florence.
Summer is in the air… What’s your tips and suggestions to stay fit as you and be ready for the “swimsuit test”?
Getting fit is 70% of what you do in the kitchen, 30% in the gym. Eat clean and the results will show.
A sarong, a little dress or a kaftan: what’s your favorite one for your beach outfit? That’s a tough one! I would have to say sarong. And a covering one too. As I am from the Philippines, I’ve learned to wear a sarong in many different ways. If you do it right you can wear it as a dress!
What kind of swimsuit would you put in your baggage for a summer vacation?
I’m more into solid colors. A two piece is definitely a must as I like to sun bathe. My favorite cut would have to be a bandeau. And I like to match the colors of the top and the bottom. That’s why I love that Yamamay doesn’t come in a package. You can mix and match a top and a bottom that is suited for YOU.
What kind of lingerie do you prefer most?
Lingerie? Secret! 🙂
1 accessory, 1 song, 1 movie, 1 place: which one would you choose, and why?
A nice pair of sunglasses, Every Breath You Take by The Police, 50 First Dates and Boracay, Philippines. Imagine all of that combined and you’ll see what I mean. Let’s hit the beach?
