The two most important individual’s in the life of Miss Philippines Mariel de Leon are already in Tokyo, Japan to give their all-out support in her bid for the Miss International 2017 crown. Celebrity parents Christopher de Leon and Sandy Andolong were tightly hugged by their daughter upon seeing each other at Tokyo Dome Hotel. And the scene was captured in photos by my friend Voltaire Tayag.
Also in Tokyo are Aces & Queens mentors Jonas Gaffud and Nad Bronce who are so happy to see their “anak” in high spirits.
Mariel is in a very happy place right now, most especially that she was able to display her Talent in Classical Singing during the formal dinner with some VIP guests and MI organizers in attendance.

Jonas Gaffud (back to the camera) watches each of the 50 aspirants for the Aces & Queens Class of 2018
Over the weekend at the Theatre at Solaire, the fifty (50) short-listed members of the Aces & Queens Class of 2018 were given their formal orientation where the journey towards Bb. Pilipinas 2018 continues. Camp pillars Jonas Gaffud, Arnold Mercado and Atty. Nad Bronce presided over the briefing while doing their running assessment of each of the ladies who will be trained and polishes for the nationals. Senior Adviser (Direk) Jeffrey Jeturian, along with the members of the beauty camp, were also in attendance.
The important question now is how many of the fifty (50) will survive the training. Truth be told, this is also like a mini-version of Bb. Pilipinas as aspirants will be eliminated one by one en route to building the core line-up of around 15 ladies who will be officially fielded for the country’s biggest beauty search.
I will update you with developments from time to time. In the meantime, here are more photos from the said orientation.

She was seem at the airport by mentor Jonas Gaffud, father Christopher de Leon, brother Gab and selected members of the media. She will aim for a back-to-back but is not totally pressured by the prospect and wants to enjoy the entire journey – this being her first trip to the Land of the Rising Sun.
Let us give our support to Mariel in her mission for the country.

Your thoughts, dear readers?
When Miss World Philippines 2017 Laura Lehmann guested on ANC’s Headstart with host Karen Davila, she spoke at length about what drives her, advocacy-wise. Actually, we already know that her focus is on education or PREP (Promoting Rural Education in the Philippines). Watch the video below as she gives us clearer insights on her Beauty With A Purpose (BWAP) Project, while answering other interesting questions along the way.
By the way, mentor Jonas Gaffud accompanied her in the said guesting.

Breaking Update from Laura Lehmann herself:
“Hi Tito! Saw your article about my BWAP. 🙂 Thanks for featuring me. 🙂 After discussing with the MWP Organization, we are opting to showcase and support the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center since this is the official partner of Miss World Philippines. Because of this, that project might be my BWAP for Miss World instead, bearing in mind the urgency and level of need that the hospital requires, since it really needs our help at the moment. 🙂 Just wanted to clarify in case anyone got confused. ❤️
These are heavy days for Jonas Gaffud and the four (4) beauty queens he is almost simultaneously polishing and preparing for their respective international pageants that will take place in just one month’s time.
First to do battle is Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas 2017 Teresita Ssen “Wyn” Marquez who will go to La Paz, Bolivia for her mission which has a November 4 finals date.
Next in line is Bb. Pilipinas International 2017 Mariel de Leon who will put her game plan into motion the minute she sets foot in Tokyo, Japan for Miss International 2017 happening on November 14.
Third to compete (and overlapping with Miss International due to its longer pre-pageant period) is Miss World Philippines 2017 Laura Lehmann traveling to Sanya where she will disprove the thoughts of many that there is always a slim chance for a Filipina winning once the host city is in Mainland China. Miss World 2017 will be elected on November 18.
And last but certainly not the least is Bb. Pilipinas Supranational 2017 Chanel Olive Thomas and her trip to Krynica Zdrój, Nowy Sącz, Poland for Miss Supranational 2017 with a December 1 finals playdate.
This is certainly not an enviable task for the beauty queen-maker. But Jonas is taking everything with a smile on his face. This is what he does best. And he will make sure that all four ladies will be in tiptop shape for their respective assignments.
