Gwen during the Miss World 2011 Top Model semifinals
Gwen during the Top Model semifinals
And so Miss Philippines made it to the Miss World 2011 Top Model semifinals. She is one of only 20 candidates chosen for this fast-track. She was pure elegance in her sexy red number from Hollywood-based Fil-Am designer Oliver Tolentino.
Things are really looking up for our girl in London. Hopefully, the string of good news continues from this point on. 😉
Following the Beach Beauty Competition of Miss World 2011, the Top Model segment will be conducted next. Keep in mind that the winners of these fast-tracks will move straight to the semifinals on coronation night come November 6.
Will Miss Philippines Gwendoline Ruais be selected to form part of the Top 20 Top Model aspirants’ list? Let’s keep our fingers crossed because our bet is more than qualified to ramp it up and give her more than 120 competitors a tough fight.
The Miss World 2011 Beach Beauty competition was conducted over the weekend, with all the 36 semifinalists out-posing each other to the max. One of them is our very own Gwendoline Ruais who was just scorching hot in her pink two-piece swimwear. She was literally a standout. Aside from her towering height, she was head-to-toe styled perfectly well for the fast-track sidebar to the main competition.

Survivor Philippines: Celebrity Doubles Showdown (shot entirely in breathtakingly picturesque, relatively untamed and uber secluded San Vicente, Palawan) premieres on November 14 at 8:00pm in GMA-7’s Primetime Telebabad right after 24 Oras.
Bicol's Rosalyn Navarro was the first to be eliminated last week. Who will go home next?
One more hopeful will be eliminated in the 3rd Live Gala of Protege’ over GMA-7. Following the tearful exit of Imelda Papin’s ward – Bicol’s Rosalyn Navarro – last week, another contender’s dream will be dashed in tonight’s results show (one hour after the Live Gala).
By now, the contest is shaping up to be a five-way battle among Iloilo’s Lirah Bermudez, Batangas’ Jensen Tenoso, Davao’s Lovely Embuscado, Pampanga’s So Wat and Cebu’s Nomer Limatog Jr. With their strong text votes complimenting the judges’ scores, will they keep their leads even more? Possibly. But don’t count the remaining wannabes out just yet. Dagupan’s Samantha Felizco, Cabanatuan’s Kenneth Monico, CDO’s Krizza Neri and NCR’s Denise Barbacena can still spoil things up if they impressively play their performances to a higher level.
Watch the 3rd Live Gala of Protege’ tonight at around 8pm over GMA-7. The results show will immediately follow an hour after. 🙂
In the meantime, let me post the video of Cebu’s Nomer Limatog Jr.’s performance during the 1st Live Gala where he sang his version of Adele’s Rolling in the Deep. I just love the spunk of this kid!
If you have been following the Hollywood career of actor Michael Trevino on TV, you will know that he was most recently seen playing the role of Tyler Lockwood on “The Vampire Diaries”. Otherwise, you have most likely seen his turns as Ozzie Cardoza in “90210”. Or if you really dig the guy early on, you may have already took notice of him playing the role of Brent in “The Riches”. And if you’re a die-hard CSI fan, he already guested in some episodes of the Las Vegas and New York show variants.
But right now, he is more familiar with the Filipinos as the latest acquisition of local apparel brand Bench to become the image model of its underwear line. I doubt it if the images above will see the light of day in one of those gigantic tarpaulins along EDSA, but feast your eyes on the guy whose Latino good looks can give the Brapanese hunks a solid run for their money. 😉
If you have been living under the rock for the past week, you wouldn’t know that Thai superstar Mario Maurer is in the country right now for his formal launch as Brand Ambassador of Penshoppe during the Philippine Fashion Week. His turn on the ramp will happen tonight at 7:30PM (Hall 2, SMX Convention Center). Unfortunately, the show is strictly by invitation. And no more invites are available. 😦
There is also confirmed news that Mario signed a one-picture contract with ABS Star Cinema where he will be paired with ‘Maria La Del Barrio’ Erich Gonzales for a romantic-comedy movie that will be shot mostly in Thailand. With the working title of “Suddenly It’s Magic”, the project should be very, very interesting. I was hoping that Kim Chiu would be his partner (a friend in Bangkok told me that chinitas are his weakness), but it turns out that Erich landed the enviable spot!
In the meantime, let’s enjoy his presence! If you’re crazy head-over-heels over him and would like to take a chance at seeing him tonight at SMX, give it a try. Who knows, he may openly mingle with all the guests after the show, lose the security cordon surrounding him and you just might end up getting a photo op with him.
Below, watch one of Mario’s TVCs released earlier this year.

Mario Maurer is adorably gorgeous!
If and when cute Mario – who is of Thai/German lineage – decides to carry some semblance of a showbiz career here in the Philippines, I’m certain that he will become more popular. He doesn’t need to reside in Manila for long periods, but just shuttle back and forth from Bangkok where he is permanently based. 😉
Below is the video profile of Miss World Philippines 2011 Gwendoline Ruais for the competition. Except for the less than desirable hair styling (or lack of it), I like what I saw and heard. She has an easy, laid-back vibe that adds up to a spontaneous aura in the 30-seconder.
Hi! Norman here. When I'm not working, I spend most of my free time planning on daily blogs. If you will notice, I always make sure that a fresh topic comes out everyday - not an easy thing to do but it's all good. Thanks for dropping by and enjoy the visit!
