There is a question mark in the title of this feature because, up until now, I could not fully internalize the increasing clamor and wildfire-like talks about Miss Philippines Earth 2012 and Miss Earth-Air 2012 Stephany Stefanowitz planning (or seriously considering) a brave move to apply for Bb. Pilipinas 2017. All the risks are in place. And if eventual success will be achieved in doing the same, she will only be the 2nd to do so. Back in 2005, Carlene Aguilar (roughly four years after reigning as the very first Miss Philippines Earth aside from being a semifinalist in the inaugural edition of Miss Earth) crossed over to BPCI and successfully wrested the Bb. Pilipinas World title. That was a clear upgrade because of pageant rankings.
This time around – and if 26 year-old Stephany Stefanowitz does push through with joining – there will be only two titles higher than her previous achievement – Miss Universe Philippines and Bb. Pilipinas International. This is not a scenario for the weak-hearted. Wisdom, maturity and experience must have given her the strength and passion to go for the bigger crowns.
So if it’s a final go for Stephany – or before she signs on the dotted line of the application form for Bb. Pilipinas 2017 – care to share your thoughts, dear readers?
Shauny is getting ready for Miss Grand International 2015 in Bangkok
As Miss Grand Netherlands 2015
Shauny Bult is another hardworking beauty queen for her country. She first represented Netherlands during Miss Earth 2012. Then two years later, she re-appeared in Tokyo, Japan for Miss International 2014 (where she got very close to our bet, Bb. Pilipinas International 2014 Bianca Guidotti – see photo below).
For 2015, the gorgeous Dutch beauty is back and she will be Bangkok-bound for Miss Grand International 2015 come October.
On top of that, she will be on a personal visit to Manila this month where she will reunite with Bianca, and possibly have dinner with your blogger!
I will keep you on the loop the minute my date with Shauny happens. 😉

Gunning for Miss International 2014 is Shauny Bult of the Netherlands.
Shauny and Miss Philippines Shauny Bult
Last night, I was chatting with Miss Philippines Bianca Guidotti on FB when she was ‘invading’ the hotel room of her good friend Shauny Bult of the Netherlands. And it just so happened that I was really about to write a post about the Dutch fashion model from Boxtel. What a nice coincidence.
You might remember Shauny from Miss Earth 2012 here in Manila. For a while, she even scored a few modeling gigs with Carousel Productions. But this year, you will definitely keep her in mind even more. As Miss International Netherlands 2014, she is planning to perform much better in Tokyo, and has actually upped her game from the time she arrived in Japan. She may be chummy with a lot of contestants, but her gameplan remains focused on the crown. And our bet knows that she has one fierce challenger in her.

While I initially tagged Shauny as a potential sleeper in the competition (and a definite part of my Top 15 so far), gut feel tells me now that she could be one serious contender. There is a far more relaxed vibe in her disposition compared to two years ago.
With that said, I will keep a more watchful eye on this one. 😉

P.S. I was told that Shauny checks out my blog from time to time. If you’re reading this right now, thank you! 😀
There has never been a more meaningful year for the Philippines to host Miss Earth than 2013. With deadly natural calamities hitting our country one after another in the past 30 days alone, the significance of the environment-focused beauty pageant is at its most connected. It is indeed ironic that an earthquake and the strongest typhoon in the world have shaken the core of every Filipino when it is at the helm of a competition that espouses the preservation and protection of Mother Earth. But it can also be a powerful platform to show the world our resilience as a people.
The candidates have already arrived and more of them still flying in today and tomorrow. So far, the ones here have already made themselves useful for various charitable acts that should make their stay in the Philippines more heartfelt and fulfulling. See the photo grids below.

I was already so enamored with Fabiana Granados when she represented Costa Rica in last year’s Miss Earth. She may not have won, but I can still vividly remember the beauty of her face and vibrant personality.
When news came that she took part in and won Miss Universe Costa Rica 2013, I was very much pleased. Here is a gorgeous woman who could easily take it all the way in any beauty competition. Her fate in Miss Universe 2013 might turn out different (and more positive) compared to Miss Earth 2012. Who knows, she might even give Costa Ricans bright hope for their country’s first Miss Universe crown. 😉
ME2012 Tereza Fajksova in South Sudan to judge and crown the winner of Beauties of South Sudan 2013.
Tereza crowning Gloria Karsis who will represent South Sudan in ME2013.
Carousel Productions can’t ask for a more cooperative and more endearing Miss Earth 2012 than Tereza Fajksova. Of late, the uber beautiful Czech titleholder has been busy travelling around different countries (such as Mauritius, Joenssu in Finland, Indonesia, Cote d’Ivoire and Reunion Island) to grace the crowning of their next Miss Earth representatives while espousing the environmental objectives of the pageant at the same time.
Recently, she landed in the African continent – South Sudan in particular- to attend the finals of Beauties of South Sudan 2013 as judge and guest of honor. She also bestowed the title to Gloria Karsis who will represent the country in Miss Earth 2013.
Keep up the high spirits, Tereza! See you in Manila (or wherever the finals of the next edition will take place)! 🙂
The Search for Miss Philippines Earth 2013 is now open!
The search is on for Miss Philippines Earth 2013 – the lady who will take over last year’s winner, Stephany Stefanowitz, who went on to bag Miss Air during the international finals late last year, and who will represent the country in Miss Earth 2013 (tentatively planned for hosting by Bangkok, Thailand) around November.
The screening schedules are clearly detailed above. So if you meet the qualifications, head on over to the venue closest to where you live.
Let’s support Carousel Productions. The group has taken a series of punches of late – both from Filipinos and foreigners alike. I’m not asking that you ignore the controversy, but let’s give them a break for now. 😉
The ten finalists of Ceska Miss 2013 arrive in Manila.
It’s certainly nice to know that the Top 10 finalists of Miss Czech Republic 2013 are in the Philippines as part of their pre-pageant activities. It’s nothing new to the organization since they have always sent their ladies abroad for out-of-Europe photoshoots and bonding. And the whole partnership helps the Department of Tourism’s “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” campaign by extending its reach to Central Europe as the ladies visit such places as Palawan, Subic and Pampanga to use our pristine beaches and tourist spots as more than backdrops for the competition itself – clearly a win-win situation for both countries.
The ten lovelies are Denisa Grossmannova, Marketa Bfizova, Lucie Kovandova, Monika Leova, Kristyna Schickova, Anna Avakjanova, Alena Presnajderova, Ztuzana Jarackova, Andrea Kolarova and Gabriela Kratochvilova.
Perhaps, it also helped seal the deal that the Philippines is where Czech Republic won its latest international beauty crown via Teresa Fajksova (who will also be one of the judges during the national finals come March) in last year’s Miss Earth.
Let’s hope everything runs smooth during the ladies` stay. We want them to enjoy the vacation-cum-pre-pageant-cum-training camp to the fullest.
So as we all say…Mabuhay! Welcome to the Philippines! 😀

Clockwise, from top left: Miss Universe 2012 First Runner-Up Janine Tugonon; Manhunt International 2012 June Macasaet; Miss Supranational 2012 3rd Runner-Up Elaine Kay Moll; Miss International 2012 Semifinalist Nicole Schmitz; Miss World 2012 Semifinalist (8th Place) Queenie Rehman; Miss International Queen 2012 Kevin Balot; Mr. World 2012 1st Runner-Up Andrew Wolff and Miss Earth 2012 Miss Air Stephanie Stefanowitz.
2012 was a very good year in Philippine Pageantry. And the honors weren’t just limited to mainstream beauty competitions for beautiful Filipinas. We also conquered both its Male and Transgender counterparts. A quick litany reads like an enviable record for other pageant-loving nations. Topping it all are placements in the Big 4: 1st Runner-Up in Miss Universe 2012, 1st Runner-Up (Miss Air) in Miss Earth 2012 plus Top 15 Semifinalist placements in Miss World 2012 and Miss International 2012. For Miss Supranational 2012, we also made it to Top 5 by taking 3rd Runner-Up honors. And then there is Mr. World 2012 with a 2nd place finish, preceded by a well-deserved win in Manhunt International 2012. Not to be outdone is the first-ever victory of the Philippines in Miss International Queen 2012. Whew! And I’m not yet adding a Top 5 reach of Janicel Lubina in the lesser-known Miss Scuba International or the Top 15 semis slot in Miss Asia Pacific World of Grendel Alvarado, plus last night’s victory of Rizzini Alexis Gomez as Miss Tourism International 2012!
All of these achievements by our representatives give the country excellent reasons to look forward to 2013 with unbridled enthusiasm.
Stay with me and together, we will journey into the Year of the Snake as our sash-wearers continue to slither (pun intended) their way to the top of the pageant world.
Hi! Norman here. When I'm not working, I spend most of my free time planning on daily blogs. If you will notice, I always make sure that a fresh topic comes out everyday - not an easy thing to do but it's all good. Thanks for dropping by and enjoy the visit!
