Pageant Scorecard 2021 for the Philippines: Better than Average

This year wasn’t the best for Philippine pageantry internationally, but not the worst either. It’s middling around the average range and pushing higher than 2019 and significantly compared to 2020. Keep in mind that I included only the competitions that I blogged about.

In this blog entry are photos and a video clip of Miss Universe Philippines Rabiya Mateo wearing the “Phoenix Rising” evening gown made by Furne Amato for the competition.

She was able to wear it onstage alright, but it wasn’t able to get the spotlight it richly deserves – much like the Cary Santiago Phoenix gown of Gazini Ganados back in 2019.

Andrea Meza of Mexico is the 69th Miss Universe. She outlasted 73 other candidates for the crown – the 3rd victory of her country in the competition.

Her court includes:
1st RU Julia Gama of Brazil
2nd RU Janick Maceta of Peru
3rd RU Adline Castelino of India
4th RU Kimberly Jimenez of the Dominican Republic

The other ladies in the Top 10 are Thailand, Puerto Rico, Australia, Costa Rica and Jamaica.

Miss Philippines Rabiya Mateo made it to the Top 21.

The 69th Miss Universe – hosted by Mario Lopez and Olivia Culpo – was broadcasted live from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
