Switzerland will bring Dijana Cvijetíć to the 65th Miss Universe


22 year-old Dijana Cvijetíć comes from Gossau Sg and is an interesting mix of Swiss and Serbian origins that explain the looks that do not immediately give anyone a clear idea what country she is representing. But make no mistake, this 5’9″ model will be wearing the sash of Switzerland with much pride. After all, she already did last 2014 when she went to London to take part in Miss World 2014 won by Rolene Strauss.

Serbia is also proud of Dijana’s pageant achievements as it would look at her as a Miss of their country even if she is a Switzerland-crowned beauty. This started last 2014. And this month, I’m pretty sure that there will be double the celebration once more if she performs better in the 65th Miss Universe which is being looked at as a fiercer fight.

Dijana is an animal rights awareness advocate who would like to use this as one of her major platforms should she win the title she will be vying for in Manila, on top of being able to give help to countries who suffered from natural calamities.

But first things first. Will Miss Switzerland be a force to reckon with in the 65th edition?

Miss World 2014 Rolene Strauss

It ain’t easy being Rolene Strauss these days. The former Miss World (back in 2014) has returned to her back-breaking and mentally-draining Medical studies. And the adjustments could not have been more demanding. Prior to getting married to D’Niel Strauss last February, she led a globe-trotting life with the Miss World Organization for one full reign. And now that she is back to her books and trying to maintain a good academic standing as a 4th Year Med Student, the daily routine requires a lot. As she stated in her IG caption above, there are long days and there ARE long days filled with little sunshine or no sunshine at all. But ever the determined future Doctor, she is committed to following her father’s footsteps (whom she considers a master in the Medical Field).

So let’s wait for the day when she can be rightfully called Dr. Rolene Strauss. 🙂

And she will now be known as Mrs. Rolene Strauss-Strauss

Last Sunday, Miss World 2014 Rolene Strauss tied the knot with her fiance’ D’Niel Strauss and became Mrs. Rolene Strauss-Strauss. She wore an elegant off-shoulder wedding gown created by her designer-friend Casper Bowman. The setting was at the lovely Lourensford Wine Estate where all guests were treated to a magical day of love, dancing and everything beautiful and heart-warming.

The ladies brought smiles to the children's faces

I never hid my fondness and admiration for Miss World 2014 Rolene Strauss. You can easily tell that the South African has a heart of gold, especially for the children. And being a Medical Student, her trip to the Julia Morley-financed orphanage in Sanya, China was an activity she wholeheartedly embraced along with twenty-four (24) of the Miss World 2015 candidates who were selected because of their medical and child welfare backgrounds.

Rolene must have been such a glowing angel when she appeared in front of the underprivileged kids. She took them to her open arms and made sure that happiness was equally distributed among everyone. Even the ladies who accompanied her were so touched by the whole visit that they treated the young ones with such warmth and sincerity. There were songs, dances and gift giving all around. And this is truly one of the most rewarding moments of being part of Miss World.

I just wished our own Hillarie Parungao was also handpicked for the same. Her project against child mortality could have counted in being part of the group. 🙂

Miss World 2014 Rolene Strauss

image The Miss World Organization (MWO) couldn’t have picked a more qualified winner last year in Rolene Strauss. This South African lass has been continuously performing her duties as the reigning titleholder to a T. And now that she is leading the delegates of Miss World 2015 in almost all the pre-pageant events in China, there is the ingrained responsibility of becoming big sister to everyone. She is both warm and gracious. Her presence is commanding but still accessible.

I wonder who among this year’s batch is starting to get the halo effect from Julia Morley. We all know that the delegates are being keenly observed every single day. And whoever proves to have all the best qualities to fill in the shoes of Rolene will most likely shine all the way to December 19 when Miss World 2015 will be crowned. 🙂

These are bittersweet days for Miss World Philippines 2014 Valerie Weigmann. In just a week from now, she will relinquish her crown to a new successor. And while her reign may not have met the expectations of pageant fans and followers in terms of a high Miss World 2014 placement, she still managed to come up with a meaningful representation of the country. Having made it to the Top 10 of the Beauty With A Purpose (BWAP) sub-competition in London has definitely provided validation in the MusiKaramay project she spearheaded for the indigenous families of Mayantoc, Tarlac.

As she begins counting the days leading to October 18, allow your blogger to thank our beautiful Valerie. Personally, she has become a dear friend (thanks to her handler, Caloy Buendia, who facilitated our fateful introduction) who always found time to show her warmth and sincerity everytime we see each other. And she will remain a Queen in my eyes long after the finals.

Thank you for being just simply you, my dear. I haven’t forgotten our oft-postponed lunch and coffee date. We may finally find the time for that soon! 🙂

FB_IMG_1443617052304 It has been mentioned before that Miss World 2014 Rolene Strauss might grace the finals of Miss World Philippines 2015 come October 18. While this will make the event more exciting, I’m also aware that she is super busy nowadays. But hey, if she is able to squeeze in the time to reunite with Miss World 2013 Megan Young and Miss World Philippines 2014 Valerie Weigmann, then why not? It’s not like she will need to move heaven and earth just to make the trip to Manila, with Julia Morley accompanying as well.

wpid-fb_img_1438255472557.jpg Just so you know that Miss World 2015 is starting to go full swing in Sanya, China, a Press Launch was recently held to mark the upcoming hosting of the pageant in the Chinese resort city. Miss World 2014 Rolene Strauss and Miss World 2012 Wenxia Yu were in attendance to add more glitz to the event.

How I wish Miss Universe 2015 would already be showing signs of life by now. There are not so wild talks anymore that the host is likely to be Shanghai. But then again, such buzz remains unconfirmed and still floating in mid-air.

That would have been a small birthday wish add-on – to get a more concrete statement from Miss Universe Organization about this year’s host. Even if the pageant will still remain January, 2016 in schedule. I wish for something clearer about the 64th Miss Universe. 😉

Meanwhile in Washington D.C., Miss World America 2015 is in full swing

imageimageWhile things are getting bad in Manhattan, New York and Baton Rouge, Louisiana for Miss USA 2015, the events are moving along quite swimmingly over at Washington DC where Miss World America 2015 will be elected at the Sphinx Club tonight. Miss World 2014 Rolene Strauss and Miss World England 2014 Carina Tyrell are already present as the VIP Guests of the organizers, and also to help Miss World America 2014 (and Miss World 2014 2nd Runner-Up) Elizabeth Safrit in crowning her successor.

While it seems that this national finals will pass with not much funfare attached to the main event, it can at least be proud of conducting the search without a hitch worth your upgraded standards of controversy.

Miss World 2013 Megan Young and Miss World 2014 Rolene Strauss are currently in Barcelona, Spain as Special Guests of the ongoing Cine Europe Film Expo 2015 which features the latest independent and mainstream films from the continent’s top and upcoming filmmakers.

And what is a reunion without the mandatory bonding between the two gorgeous ladies? Having established themselves as good friends ever since the Miss World 2014 finals in London and Rolene’s visit to the country for the Beauty With A Purpose projects at PGH, they already feel quite comfy in each other’s company.
