Don’t be left out. There’s one and only one final day of NCR screening for Model Supremacy 2017 Mossimo Bikini Summit PH remaining. It’s going to be this Saturday, January 21 at The Penthouse 8747 from 10am-onwards.

Come Sunday, January 22, Final Selection of the Official Candidates will already be conducted where thirty-two contenders will be announced (16 male, 16 female). They will vie for the top prize of the model search which will have its finals on April 8 at the Henann Regency Resort and Spa in Boracay.

Now-or-never mode for 2017.

It was a successful Media Launch of Mossimo Bikini Summit 2017 Model Supremacy that was held at The Penthouse 8747 yesterday afternoon, what with the combined forces of the global clothing brand with Direk Bernard Y. Maybituin and Team Lumina Events Management PH plus the brains behind the original model search Direk Calvin Neria.

Former winners and finalists Angelo Cacciatore, Janelle Olafson, Benj Bolivar, Dex Quindoza and Mark Manicad graced the event to share their stories and how being part of the competition helped shape their respective careers.

There are several elements that make this return different aside from the big cash prizes and packages (which include condominium units and cars for the top male and female winners). Lucrative modeling contracts also await the most outstanding finishers in both divisions.

Regional searches will be conducted in Dagupan, Cebu, Davao Bohol and Metro Manila to determine the cast of 32 Official Candidates who will go through the training and mentorship of Stefano Churchill (from America’s Next Top Model) and Monika Sta. Maria (from Asia’s Next Top Model).

From there, pocket show challenges will be held in key cities of the country where eliminations will happen (from the original 16 girls and 16 guys) up until the approach of the finals on April 8, 2017 when only three (3) pairs will be left to vie for the #1 spots.

The journey won’t be easy. But the rewards will be extremely rewarding.

The big finals will be staged at Hennan Regency Resort in Boracay. This will definitely usher in the hottest summer ever in the popular vacation island.

The model search will be making a big comeback!


The teaser poster with Janelle Olafson and Benj Bolivar above will do for now. But one thing is clear. Model Supremacy will return with the formal launching of Mossimo Bikini Summit 2017 soon. It will be remembered that this used to be an annual search that spawned the modeling careers of many familiar personalities in the past. This year, it will start rising again with a bigger and more exciting comeback for 2017. In fact, as early as now, the TV telecast of the finals has already been set for April 8 over ABS-CBN. But that would be getting far ahead of the preparations that Lumina Events Management will go into to insure that this one will make more than just noise. It aims to re-establish itself as the prime modeling competition in the country. And no stoned will be left unturned in doing so.

Regional pocket shows will be scheduled in key provinces (at least one each in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao) which will make it a truly nationwide hunt for the best, brightest and most promising male & female models in the country today.

In these Ahleks Fusilero photographs, you can see the latest conceptual theme shoot for Bragais where the team went to a private resort and had the models shot wearing the latest heels collection underwater – like mermaids floating and synchronized to present an aquarium show like no other. Truth be told, this turned out to be an intensely demanding pictorial as the natural elements did not fully cooperate. But in the end, everything turned out as expected. And soon, you will see the creative shots with Yvethe Santiago, Cindy Madumma, Pamela Jones and Janelle Olafson plus Gentlemen of the Philippines-Mister Model Intetnational titleholders Arcel Yambing and Job Abogado.

Miss Global Philippines 2016 CJ Hirro and 3/4 of her court in front of the Pampanga Capitol

When I saw a Facebook update of Miss Global Philippines 2016 Camille “CJ” Hirro making a visit to her home province of Pampanga along with the other winners, I initially sensed nothing amiss with the group photo she posted in front of the Pampanga Capitol. But after looking closely, I noticed something a bit different with the composition of her companions.

Sure, 2nd Runner-Up and Global Ambassador Janelle Olafson was missing (maybe she had prior commitments in Manila that prevented her from joining). 1st and 3rd Runners-Up and also Global Ambassadors Perlyn Ocampo and Sammie Anne Legaspi were present. But it is the absence of 4th Runner-Up Christine Horstmann that got me into thinking, along with the fact that Clarize Angelica Barrameda now wears a Miss Global Philippines Runner-Up sash. A promotion definitely happened. And with that, could a removal be far behind?

The usual suspects are either Janelle or Christine. Their absence makes it look unofficial that one of them could have been pulled out or something. And a Press Presentation could be looming soon to make things more official on what actually happened.

Be that as it may, I am happy with Clarize being part of the court now. She fully deserves to be up there with the rest. 😉

Who will be crowned Miss Global Philippines 2016?

One of these 23 ladies will win Miss Global Philippines 2016 tomorrow night!


Tomorrow night, twenty-three beautiful ladies will compete for the Miss Global Philippines 2016 crown currently being held by Candice Ramos. And at the rate these contenders have performed the past month, it sure would be difficult for the judges to pick the ultimate winner. It could all boil down to that one final question or it could also be a mix of first impressions/latest impact altogether.

Be that as it may, my Top 10 selection includes Janelle Olafson, Perlyn Ocampo, Camille Hirro, Danica Ebrada, Clarize Barrameda, Kimberly Isla, Marcia Nicole Bautista, Krishia Antonio, Kristine Joy Cruz and Sammie Anne Legaspi. My feeling is that this group has really stepped up to the plate all throughout pre-pageant activities and more.

Of course, the list of ten would not last that many in the final tally. So I filtered the choices further to six potential winners. I know that practically everyone here could seal the deal with a good performance in the Q&A. Top of my head, though, I would give the edge to three – public speakers Camille Hirro and Janelle Olafson plus single mother Perlyn Ocampo. Individually, they can claim the crown on their bright merits. So from this point hereon, it is a matter of which one among them the judges and organizers took a solid shine on and never waivered in any segment.

For now, I congratulate all the candidates and organizers for a job well done. It sure ain’t easy seeing everything through till the end, but the rewards will make the journey a fulfilling one. 🙂

I was about to retire for the night and made just a last quick look on my Facebook news feed. And these two images suddenly appeared courtesy of Photographer Raymond Saldaña.

I suddenly stood up in a flash and began preparing a quick press of the previously-unseen Bb. Pilipinas 2016 images of the former Binibini 20 Kim Ross delos Santos and former Binibini 1 Janelle Olafson.

I suddenly missed Kim Ross.

I also miss Janelle but she is competing for Miss Global Philippines now so there is some sort of pageant continuity running in that regard.

But I really started missing Kim Ross again.

She is really something else.

Truly, if the Philippines is blessed with all-around competitive height, then we should have an overflowing abundance of statuesque beauties nationwide. Take for example the Official Candidates of Miss Global Philippines 2016. A big chunk of the 23 Official Candidates during the Press Presentation at the Expo Hall of Fisher Mall possesses such beautiful faces that you might actually consider them as potentials for either the Bb. Pilipinas or Miss World Philippines/Miss Philippines Earth competitions.

But moving on to the event yesterday noon, I can spot more than half who can very well fight for the Miss Global Philippines 2016 whose reigning titleholder is Candice Ramos who placed 4th Runner-Up during the bigger Miss Global finals held here in Manila last year.imageimage
The shining standouts include the three ladies voted as Darlings of the Press with #21 Janelle Olafson topping the votes, followed by #4 Danica Ebrada (very beautiful) and #20 Clarize Angelica Barrameda.

The other beauties who impressed this blogger are #9 Kimberly Denise Isla, #2 Nahida Shohaibar, #7 Eliza Johanna Cruz, #23 Perlyn Ocampo and even short-haired #19 Camille Hiro.image

Janelle is now in the hunt for a new title

Call it Bb. Pilipinas 2016’s loss, Ms. Global Philippines 2016’s gain.

Janelle Olafson, short-lived as Binibini 1 of the country’s premiere beauty pageant, has now crossed over to a different one where she still remains age-eligible for candidacy. And Ms. Global Philippines is benefitting to a certain extent with her decision to join. The newer contest can actually drum up some noise with her participation, especially that the Press Presentation will happen at the Fisher Mall tomorrow.

Will this give Janelle some kind of advantage? I believe so. The girl is not shy. She speaks well, and can express her thoughts in a fun-loving way. And if she plays her cards right, the probability of representing the country in Ms. Global 2016 won’t be such a far-fetched possibility.


Let’s see how the former Binibini can shine on her own merits in Ms. Global Philippines 2016. 🙂

At the late onset, Binibini 1 Gail Ventic is the candidate some quarters are throwing potshots at because she is the representation of the beauty who erased the chances of Kim Ross delos Santos being reinstated in the competition. But so much for that detail. Most everyone has already moved on from the replacements and disqualifications. And this beautiful girl from Pampanga has steadily taken the challenge of being the constant lead contender during public appearances and activities by virtue of her pin number.

Would Gail’s Bb. Pilipinas journey be different had she been with the pack right from the start? While she did not miss any of the important pre-pageant, her stand as a candidate could be turning out differently by now.

In her own words now, Gail has this to say about her Bb. Pilipinas 2016 participation:

Being a binibini has changed me in so many levels. I have experienced a roller coaster ride of emotions during the last few months of my life. You see, I have dreamt of joining Binibining Pilipinas ever since I was young, and now that I’m already here – I still feel a little bit giddy inside each and every time I wear a Binibini shirt or even when I hear the Binibini theme song. For being a Binibini already is a dream come true for me, although winning one of the crowns still is my goal. I know that everything has its own reason, and God’s timing always is perfect. So I don’t question Him. I don’t question His timing. I don’t even question His judgement. I just trust Him and let the universe take over. Because for me, if it’s meant to be – it will be.
