Hannah’s Beach Resort & Convention Center presents the Mutya ng Pilipinas 2017 Swimsuit Competition which will take place in the Crown Jewel of the North this coming July 22 at 8:00PM.

Be there when it happens as the candidates of this year’s search take centerstage in one of the contest’s most highly anticipated pre-pageant events.

Reigning titleholders Ganiel Krishnan and Jaya San Jose will be special guests, alongside beauty queens Catriona Gray and Shamcey Supsup-Lee plus surprise performers.

Mutya ng Pilipinas 2016 titleholders Ganiel Krishnan, Jaya San Jose and Michelle Thorlund

If you have been waiting for the dates of the Manila Screening of Mutya ng Pilipinas 2017, then here it is.This coming June 12 and 19 – from 1pm to 5pm – the NCR-based applicants will be screened at the West Avenue Suites in Quezon City. All regional eliminations are in full swing and it will all come to a final assembly of this year’s candidates early next month leading to all the pre-pageant activities that include the Press Presentation come July 19 and the much-awaited finals on August 4. Reigning winners Ganiel Krishnan (left photo), Jaya San Jose and Michelle Thorlund will be around to lend their presence to the 2017 edition of the pageant institution that has carved a niche for producing some of the most beautiful faces in the national level.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Natural Born Female; High School Graduate. At least 18 but not more than 24 years old; with a minimum height of 5’5”;
• Must be least a high school graduate
• Must possess beauty of face and figure, has an outstanding personality, smart and witty;
• Must be single and never been married;
• Must be of Filipino ancestry, with at least one (1) grandparent in the direct paternal or maternal line possessing Filipino citizenship

PAGEANT REQUIREMENTS:

• One Colored Passport size photo, one colored head shot and one Colored Full Body shot in swimsuit
• Photocopy of Birth Certificate
• Photocopy of High School Diploma, if available
• Overseas participants must submit proof of Filipino ancestry in the form of a certified true copy of the Birth Certificate of either the Filipino grandparents or parents.

Last night, I had the welcome opportunity to sit as one of the judges during the finals of Ginoo and Binibining Laguna 2017 held with much glitter and pageantry at the Provincial Capitol Grounds in Sta. Cruz, Laguna. Two very promising young candidates walked away with the top plums as Joshua Banatin (who is also the reigning Mister Philippines Calabarzon) of Los Baños and Christa Lynd Pereira (a stunning 5’9″ Fil-Pakistani stunner from Biñan) defeated 38 other comers to become the latest Tourism and Youth Ambassadors of the Province of Laguna.

The panel of judges, which also included Designers Albert Andrada, Edwin Uy & Bessie Besana, pageant heel maker Jojo Bragais, Miss Philippines Earth 2016 Loren Mar Artajos, Mutya ng Pilipinas Asia Pacific International 2016 Ganiel Krishnan, Pageant Producer Gareth Blanco and Spanish fly-in model Alejandro Coloma, came up with unanimous decisions on the winners. In fact, Binibining Laguna 2017 Christa Lynd Pereira is now being eyed to take part in either Miss World Philippines or Mutya ng Pilipinas later this year. As for Ginoo Laguna 2017 Joshua Banatin, he is all set to represent Laguna in next month’s national finals of Mister Philippines 2017 to be held in Angeles City.

The entire production gave everyone a world-class staging of the provincial event as the almost seamless proceedings went well with the topnotch concept and choreography for each segment. Kudos to Lumina Events for coming up with a wonderful show, especially Overall Director Bernard Maybituin, Creative Director Raymund Seranillo and the hardworking team behind the creative group. Hosts Kyle Ortega and Bianca Guidotti navigated everything onstage from start to finish with such good chemistry.

Last night, I was the only member of the recognizable pageant media ​​who attended the surprise 50th Birthday Bash of Rodgil Flores – the well-loved man behind Kagandahang Flores – which was held at Club One 690 in Quezon City. There was a visible outpouring of love from everyone who became part of his life as a beauty queen-maker, friend and loved one. The core team behind the event – led by Georgette Garrido, Kristine Caballero-Aplal, Gelbert Aplal and David Isaac Buenaventura – made sure that everything was kept in utmost secrecy up until the final reveal when the celebrant showed up at the venue unaware of what he will witness upon arrival (he was made to know that it was an important client meeting instead). He could not hold back the tears especially when an emotionally-made three-part video (which included Janicel Lubina who is currently in Brisbane for a project and Karen Agustin-Ostrea who is tied up with commitments as well) was shown detailing some of the individuals who have benefitted from his love, generosity and unconditional care.

Beauty queens spotted last night included Bea Rose Santiago, Angelia Ong, MJ Lastimosa, Parul Shah, Maggie Wilson-Consunji, Angelee Delos Reyes, Patricia Fernandez, Precious Lara Quigaman, Karla Henry, Kris Tiffany Janson, Athena Imperial, Camille Hirro, Janela Joy Cuaton, Ganiel Krishnan, Jaya San Jose, Mia Howell, Rachel Peters, Julian Flores, Abigail Cruz, Alexandra Faith Garcia, Gail Ventic, Kristine Estoque, Karen Ibasco, Brenna Gamboa and more. Mr. Gay World Philippines Organization Head Wilbert Tolentino (who was there with John Raspado and Bench Ortiz) was his usually generous self as he added a big amount to the already raised funds (whole-heartedly contributed upon by all previous titleholders and sponsors) for the future training of all KF beauty queen-aspirants. I won’t mention the exact amounts anymore but it’s definitely worth a lot.

Justine Mae “Jaya” San Jose, Mutya ng Pilipinas by Onecho Gabinete

“Semoga berjaya” is “Good luck” in Bahasa Malaysia. And that is what we are wishing Mutya ng Pilipinas Tourism International 2016 Justine Mae “Jaya” San Jose as she competes in the finals of the last beauty pageant for this year – Miss Tourism International 2016/17 – which will wrap up with the crowning of a new winner on New Year’s Eve (or just shortly before the clock strikes 2017 tonight) inside Marriott Putrajaya in Malaysia.

Jaya is in high spirits, especially after being informed by the organizers that she is always being noticed – along with the delegates of Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand – as the most active in social media. And this helps a lot not only in determining the Most Popular Special Award recipient, but also in measuring the power of reach that a potential winner can use if and when she becomes crowned as the next.

Jaya is especially motivated at the moment because her loved ones are already in Kuala Lumpur to support her bid. Add to that the fact Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International 2015 Leren Mae Bautista is also a special guest during the coronation. She will give it her all, trust me.

Now that the 2016 Pageant Year is nearing its end, there is still one international beauty contest to blog about – the traditional New Year’s Eve-crowning Miss Tourism International which has returned to its home at Marriott Putrajaya for this edition.

Mutya ng Pilipinas 2016 Justine Mae “Jaya” San Jose is in the middle of all pre-pageant activities as she attempts to make one last hurrah for the country and hopefully end the year with a sweet bang.

This charming Doha-raised but Laguna-educated lass knows what is expected of her, as is mandated in all Filipina Beauty Queens and that is to bring the sunniest version of herself to the pageant and give the needed thrust for Tourism – the main objective of it all.

During yesterday’s Press Presentation of Miss Tourism International 2016/17 at the Marriott Putrajaya in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Mutya ng Pilipinas 2016 Justine Mae San Jose looked radiant in her Leo Almodal gown with accessories by Christopher E Munar and styled by Patrick Henry.

Jaya was easily one of the most looked-upon candidate aside from the fact that she is wearing the Philippine sash. She knows how to work her charm with people and establishes a pleasant impression right away.

But since this is just the beginning of her mission, Jaya still needs to maintain a solid public presentation all the time, aside from showing the organizers that she is a definite contender for the title.

Last night, Mutya ng Pilipinas Tourism International 2016 Justine Mae “Jaya” San Jose departed for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to compete in the 2016 edition of Miss Tourism International which will be held on New Year’s Eve. She has really transformed well, with a marked sense of confidence and more queenly bearing that should make her stand out in the competition. And even in the way she answers questions during the impromptu interviews conducted right before check-in, she was a picture of joy and optimism. She knows it won’t be easy to fulfill her mission with a personal guarantee right away, but she promises to do everything according to her gameplan – be the friendliest to everyone and the fiercest when the going gets tough onstage and during closed door interviews plus public appearances.

Miss Tourism International has already established itself as the last international beauty pageant to be held every year, with the annual finals always happening during New Year’s Eve. And for 2016, Mutya ng Pilipinas Tourism International Justine Mae “Jaya” San Jose is the Filipina who will travel to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to represent the Philippines in the 2016/17 edition.

This beautiful lady from Pila, Laguna – whom we recently saw as one of the PBA Muses for Rain-or-Shine Elasto-Painters – is more than ready to give her best for the country. She wants nothing more than to add another crowning achievement to the long list of Filipinas who have helped make the country a true pageant powerhouse around the world.

And Jaya will get all the support that she needs – from the Mutya ng Pilipinas organizers to her family to the big group of fans and supporters who have pledged to back her up all the way.

Over the weekend, our beauty queens conquered two separate environments where their presence is no longer unusual – at the 20th Philippine Fashion Week held inside Discovery Primea in Makati and during the start of the new Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) at the Smart Araneta Coliseum where four of our reigning beauties were chosen as muses of the participating basketball teams.
