Miss Scuba Philippines 2017 Sherlyn Doloriel
With ND Cindy Madumma and the two runners-up Danica Acuña & Kristine Eiriel Nolasco
Earlier yesterday afternoon, Miss Scuba Philippines 2017 Sherlyn Doloriel was given her Media Send-Off to Miss Scuba International 2017 in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia where she will attempt to win a second top victory in the competition after (now) National Director Cindy Madumma did it last 2015.
At Rufo’s Famous Tapa in Paseo Center, members of the pageant media plus photographers took turns in asking questions and taking photos of our bet after she was formally awarded – along with two runners-up Danica Acuña and Kristine Eiriel Nolasco the custom-made crystal trophies and good-luck pearl earrings that form part of their prizes as this year’s top finishers.
There is a big weight now on the shoulders of Sherlyn as she really needs to step it up even more after the string of successes shown by our other Beauty Queens in the international stage. She is aware of the importance of placing in the Top 3, if not clinching the title itself come November 18 at the Sutera Harbor.
Her actual journey to the competition won’t be a breeze as she needs to fly from Manila to Kota Kinabalu before the transfer to a domestic flight to another part of Sabah and a 2-hour road trip, followed by a 90-minute beat ride to the actual diving sites where the core activities will be held. But she is ready for the ride!

Her time has finally come. From a not so successful bid during Miss Philippines Earth 2017, the Cagayan de Oro City native has won a national crown. Sherlyn Legaspi Doloriel – representing Misamis Oriental – is now Miss Scuba Philippines 2017, and the country’s representative to Miss Scuba International 2017 in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia next month. A certified Diver and a “fighter for the Ocean”, she defeated fourteen other girls on the way to victory.
Her 1st Runner-Up is Danica Acuña of Romblon, followed by 2nd Runner-Up Kristine Eiriel Nolasco of Manila. Named as Marine Ambassadors (all remaining ladies in the Top 8) are Fel Banaybanay, Yana Ibnohajil, Helga Cerbo, Jolina Ann Roque and Elle Hollman.

Sherlyn will have less than a month to prepare for her international competition, but she dreamt of winning this title for so long. She is totally up to the challenge of clinching a second Miss Scuba International win for the Philippines.

It was a very successful staging of the Miss Scuba Philippines 2017 Swimsuit Competition held at the poolside of La Laguna Villas in Puerto Galera. All the fifteen candidates vied for the attention of the judges – most of whom are members of the PGDDRA or Puerto Galera Dive Shop and Dive Resort Association aside from the Puerto Galera Mayor and Vice-Mayor. Special sponsor awards were also handed out prior to the announcement of the Top 3 in swimsuit (by Swimwear Store): Helga Cerbo, Lorin Talosig and Sherlyn Doloriel.
Athena Catriz hosted the proceedings, while National Director Cindy Madumma made sure that everything went well.

This pageant – however still small and limited in scope – deserves much attention because of their marine conservation advocacy. normannorman.com is giving its 100% support to the organizers because the efforts are definitely in the upswing in the years to come.
Early yesterday morning, the officers and candidates of Miss Scuba Philippines 2017 – along with the production, HMUA team and yours truly – boarded the bus that brought everyone to the Batangas Port en route to Puerto Galera where the Swimsuit Competition will be held later in the day at the La Laguna Villas.
National Director Cindy Pacia Madumma (with partners Athena Catriz & Andrea Delgado) led everyone to the official residence – Out of the Blue Resort – from where the order of the day was to visit different sponsoring dive clubs/centers. The ladies were warmly welcomed by both the locals and foreign tourists. A trip to the Puerto Galera Mangrove Conservation and EcoTourism Walkway made the long day more meaningful as high school students assisted the candidates in the planting of mangrove seedlings inspite of the rains that could have spoiled the activity. All of them were game, though.
After today’s preliminaries, tomorrow will be a morning dive before returning to Manila in the afternoon. Here are more photos from Day 1 of the stay.
Meet the fourteen (14) lovely ladies who make up the roster of Official Candidates for Miss Scuba Philippines 2017. One of them will eventually be crowned as our representative to Miss Scuba International 2017 to be held in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia come November.

). By next month, the Press Presentation will be held leading to the finals on October 8. National Director Cindy Madumma is optimistic that she will find the best bet for the country among them.

Replica of the Miss Scuba Philippines crown
There is a new National Director of Miss Scuba Philippines and she is none other than Miss Scuba International 2015 herself – Cindy Pacia Madumma. In the media launch held at Belmont Hotel Manila earlier, she slipped into the new responsibility by spearheading the start of the search for Miss Scuba Philippines 2017 who will represent the country in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia this coming November.
Cindy is full of eagerness and excitement to go full steam ahead with the task of finding the successor of last year’s Meryl Angelyn King. The challenge is to mount a proper national finals where she plans to assemble fifteen (15) finalists to vie for the title. No hand-picked delegate or an appointed one this time around. And our new ND promises to make this year’s edition a good one without sacrificing quality and production value.

The age bracket for Miss Scuba Philippines is 18-28 years, single, has never given birth, of good moral character, with an outgoing personality and willing to go into dive training in preparation for the international competition.
This early, the Press Presentation has already been set for August 24, with the finals penciled for October 8. Belmont Hotel will be the Official Residence and Bauan Divers Sanctuary & Resort will serve as the dive site.
Meryl Angeline King of Albay just got her 2nd shot at international pageant representation. She is now Miss Scuba Philippines 2016 and will represent the country in this year’s edition of Miss Scuba International which will be hosted in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia from November 8-19.
At the moment, Meryl is completing her dive training to better equip herself in the competition where a back-to-back win is being aimed at (Cindy Madumma is the reigning titleholder).

You will all remember Meryl as Miss Tourism World Philippines 2012 who wore the country’s sash during Miss Tourism World 2012 held in Bangkok, Thailand. Now, she wants to do better in this fresh bid at pageant glory.
“I want to become Miss SCUBA Philippines 2016 simply because I love the ocean! As an ocean lover, this competition will pave the way for me to elevate my love and passion to protect and promote marine conservation.” stated Meryl
Good luck, girl! 🙂
