A shot of the Binibinis during rehearsals with focus on their Bragais heels
Check out the Bragais heels that the Bb. Pilipinas 2019 Official Candidates will wear this coming Sunday during the Grand Coronation Night.
From the creator himself – Jojo Bragais – “Elegant and sexy look for Binibining Pilipinas coronation night. 4.5 inches single strap shoes in Nude Color. I had to custom made the shoe molds to achieve the arch that is steep yet comfy and the shade of nude to fit everyone’s skin tone.”
Your thoughts, dear readers?

Rehearsals in full swing for the finals
These are the days spent inside the Araneta Coliseum rehearsing for the Bb. Pilipinas 2017 Coronation Night on Sunday, April 30. Dressed in loose workout attires and sleeveless tops, the Binibinis are being choreographed to perfection. According to Gines Enriquez of BPCI, this is going to be the grandest opening number for any edition. Ever. And I believe him because ABS-CBN is deep into perfecting everything to achieve seamless proceedings during the live and TV telecast.
By the way, the finals will be hosted by Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach and actor Xian Lim, with Venus Raj as commentator. If you haven’t bought your tickets yet, then please head on to ticketnet.com.ph or at the Araneta Coliseum box-office.

If Jojo Bragais had it his way, he would make shoes for the Binibinis that follow his own dream style (I cannot really spill the details because that wouldn’t be good for business
) and color. But being the shoe sponsor of Bb. Pilipinas stipulates that he should have designs pass through several layers of approval before the final thumbs of Madame Stella Marquez de Araneta herself. So inspite of the potshots thrown his way regarding the underwhelming style of the matte-nude heels worn during the Press Presentation, he kept his cool and tried to take things evenly.
“I always listen to criticisms though at times it hurts. I weigh them and use the suggestions to my advantage. I never had any formal lessons with shoe making but I am sure which looks good and which doesn’t. One big no-no is having the toes of the feet slipping out of the shoes. The footwear may only contribute a small part of the total look of the girls but having that no-no can always make her look unsexy. No matter how beautiful the materials are, if fitting ain’t good then that is a complete eyesore.”

“I don’t want my shoes to be overpowering but I want them to be complementing. The girls are always stressed out with what to wear – trying to look their best and I don’t wanna add to the burden of creating pairs which will give them a hard time pairing it with the right outfit. Aside from that, it will always be comfort over form.
How about the matte nude heels, Jojo?
“Matte nude is friendly to both mestizas and morenas. I want to give both chances of looking good unlike glossy types that only go well with the fair-skinned wearer.
And during the final delivery of the pairs, Madame Stella actually fitted my shoes along with the girls. It made me want to scream with happiness. She’s really hard to please. Whenever she keeps on telling me that my shoes are nice and of good quality over and over again makes me feel like I am successful enough doing what I want and learning from the experience.”

“Not all will appreciate how I do shoes but hearing most of the girls thanking me for making it easier for them makes those sleepless nights and rushing pairs for them worth it. And I will never be tired of doing it all over again even others are size 11 or 11.5 just so I can see them walk with ease.

Another pair to be used for formal events
My favorite shoemaker (or pageant heels-maker if you will
) – Jojo Bragais – has done it again. His BRAGAIS™ brand will provide the footwear of the forty (40) lovely Binibinis for the Press Presentation, as well as the other main events of the competition (such as the Preliminary Competition, Parade of Beauties, National Costume Competition and Coronation Night
). It took him awhile to finally come up with the pairs that would meet the exacting specifications of Madame Stella Marquez de Araneta. But once the approved designs were given the green-light, he buckled down to finishing all the requirements.
The matte nude pair above will be used for March 22, while the alternate silver heels (left photo) is an option for the ladies during their formal activities. A third pair is still under wraps, but it will soon be revealed.
Kudos to you, Jojo Bragais! 🙂

October 22, 2016
This coming Saturday, October 22, at the Makati Shangri-la Ballroom, the Tenth Annual Star Magic Ball will take place where the big stars of ABS-CBN will take the spotlight as one solid Kapamilya family, dressed to the nines and ready to enjoy the night away. This is an annual event that a lot of fashiom designers, stylists and HMUAs are looking forward to. And my favorite shoemaker – Jojo Bragais – is one of them. He has hand-crafted a number of heels to be worn by some of the female stars. The question is, who among them?
Here are photos of the Bragais™ creations that should hopefully get photographed with their wearers this weekend. 🙂
Wouldn’t some of you Bragais™ wearers love to have a personal pair or two of the heels above?
For this Sunday Special post, I am focusing once more on the works of my favorite shoemaker, Jojo Bragais and his latest Bragais™ collection. This time around, he came up with six (6) new pairs exclusively for our Bb. Pilipinas 2016 titleholders who are duty-bound to compete internationally one after another.
Jennifer Hammond is now in the thick of the fight in Colombo, Sri Lanka for Miss Intercontinental 2016. Nicole Cordoves should have already landed in Las Vegas, Nevada by now to start her conquest of the Miss Grand International 2016. Kylie Verzosa will be leaving very soom for Tokyo, Japan in search for our 6th Miss International crown. Nichole Manalo will get her turn next month once she flies to Tirana, Albani for The Miss Globe 2016. Joanna Eden will follow quickly thereafter as Krynica-Zdroj, Poland awaits her for Miss Supranational 2016. And Maxine Medina? She will be the last in the 65th edition of Miss Universe. It could be somewhere close to our hearts physically. But I don’t want to make any pre-emptive statements anymore.
I am very happy with these pairs that my “son” Jojo handcrafted for our Queens. And he won’t stop at doing these Bragais™ heels just for the local market, I daresay. He might have a big winning card up his sleeve soon and this will really establish his name around the world. I’ll keep you updated on that.
In the meantime, enjoy your Sunday rest, dear readers. 😉
In these Ahleks Fusilero photographs, you can see the latest conceptual theme shoot for Bragais where the team went to a private resort and had the models shot wearing the latest heels collection underwater – like mermaids floating and synchronized to present an aquarium show like no other. Truth be told, this turned out to be an intensely demanding pictorial as the natural elements did not fully cooperate. But in the end, everything turned out as expected. And soon, you will see the creative shots with Yvethe Santiago, Cindy Madumma, Pamela Jones and Janelle Olafson plus Gentlemen of the Philippines-Mister Model Intetnational titleholders Arcel Yambing and Job Abogado.
