Rabiya in her NatCos
According to a very reliable source, the head piece (made by Manny Halasan) was not worn by Miss Universe Philippines Rabiya Mateo because it was found to be too big for her head.
That’s all I can say for now.
But below are photos of what should have been worn aside from the Rocky Gathercole flag-inspired creation – earrings and brooch included.
Watch my exclusive interview with Fashion Designer and Jewelry Maker Manny Halasan where he carefully talks about his contribution to Miss Universe Philippines Rabiya Mateo’s (Rocky Gathercole) National Costume for the 69th Miss Universe.
I can already envision the final ensemble to be out-of-this-Universe! Knowing Rocky’s aesthetics, it should be. And with the inputs of Manny, it will provide the pageant side of the design I reckon.

The Live Coronation Event of Miss Kuyamis 2021 went without a hitch as the organizers were able to stage a Finals which – even if a far cry from the all-out grand staging of the past four editions – was still successfully completed to the delight of everyone who followed the competition.
Congratulations to Dannah Joy R. Tempra of Jasaan for winning the title. She will now get the chance to represent the province in a national pageant to be announced soon.
Her court includes:
1st Runner-Up Katheryn Tan Guipetacio of Sugbongcogon
2nd Runner-Up Princess Nicole Segundo of Naawan
3rd Runner-Up Angeliza Navajo of Claveria
4th Runner-Up Alyssa Marie Cordova of Gitagum
The judges- Karan Singhdole, Angelee delos Reyes, Leren Mae Bautista, Manny Halasan and Carlo Pasion
I was actually invited by the LGU to be one of the judges this year. But due to personal travel restrictions I had to follow due to my senior mom who stays with me, I had to pass up on the chance and instead, asked my friend – Designer Manny Halasan – to take over. After all, he is my namesake. (I am Norman, he is Normannie)
Kudos to the entire Province of Misamis Oriental, Governor Bambi Emano and the ExploreMisOr Tourism Office!

Pleased to share with you Episode 2 of Pageantry Norms Season 3 – “Dressing Up The Binibinis” – where my guests included Bb. Pilipinas National Costume Designers Edwin Uy, Rian Fernandez, Dee Jay Abustan and Manny Halasan.
Do watch now.
Behold your #Binibini8 Meiji Cruz of Valenzuela in her Bb. Pilipinas National Costume created by Manny Halasan:
The National costume is inspired by #Lakapati, Goddess of agriculture and fertility.
Lakapati literally means “giver of food” and prosperity. She promotes abundance in the field and crops and she protects farm animals from disease. She is a symbol of harvest, thanksgiving, and protection.
The wings design is inspired by the dragon fly which means new beginning.
The gown is made of French lace with brass metal works pearls rhinestones and Swarovski crystals.

A virtual Santacruzan it will be for Bb. Pilipinas 2020. Because of the pandemic crisis, the Binibinis will have to be dolled up off-site and presented as sagalas online. It takes some getting used to, but this is already a sneak peek into the new normal – the BPCI way.
Below are three more ladies to feast your eyes on.

Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray got first dibs in actually holding the new crown made by Mouawad. But very soon, one of the 90 candidates around her will be the first to wear it as the new titleholder.
By the way, Catriona wore a Manny Halasan gown during the unveiling of the crown.
In the meantime, here are newly-posted photos of Queen Cat taken by Fadil Berisha.
