When Provincial Pageants start taking on national feels, it only means that they are prepared to stage beauty competitions that approximate, if not surpass, national counterparts. There are actually many key areas in the Philippines that have already shown that they can do it.
Miss Kuyamis of the Province of Misamis Oriental is one such effort. What started out as a sub-event of the annual Kuyamis Festival five years ago has now become a grand celebration of ExploreMisOr’s Beauty and Tourism thrusts.
Watch Episode 8 of Pageantry Norms Season 3 now.
The Live Coronation Event of Miss Kuyamis 2021 went without a hitch as the organizers were able to stage a Finals which – even if a far cry from the all-out grand staging of the past four editions – was still successfully completed to the delight of everyone who followed the competition.
Congratulations to Dannah Joy R. Tempra of Jasaan for winning the title. She will now get the chance to represent the province in a national pageant to be announced soon.
Her court includes:
1st Runner-Up Katheryn Tan Guipetacio of Sugbongcogon
2nd Runner-Up Princess Nicole Segundo of Naawan
3rd Runner-Up Angeliza Navajo of Claveria
4th Runner-Up Alyssa Marie Cordova of Gitagum
The judges- Karan Singhdole, Angelee delos Reyes, Leren Mae Bautista, Manny Halasan and Carlo Pasion
I was actually invited by the LGU to be one of the judges this year. But due to personal travel restrictions I had to follow due to my senior mom who stays with me, I had to pass up on the chance and instead, asked my friend – Designer Manny Halasan – to take over. After all, he is my namesake. (I am Norman, he is Normannie)
Kudos to the entire Province of Misamis Oriental, Governor Bambi Emano and the ExploreMisOr Tourism Office!

The concept was fantastic, with the giant palm branch fanned around their glistening bodies and the crystal blue water framing the entire image.
The ladies were able to convert themselves into modern versions of bombshells this side of Misamis Oriental. Even amidst the heat and discomfort of the sweltering sun, the official swimsuit photos of Phillip Vallespin brought out the best in each one of the Miss Kuyamis 2021 contenders.
A shuffle was in order. Here now are my eight (8) favorites for the second round:
#Sugbongcogon Katheryn Guipetacio
#Talisayan Anna Grace Alturas
#Gitagum Alyssa Marie Cordova
#Lagonglong Jaimee Hana Padilla
#Naawan Princess Nicole Segundo
#Alubijid Mitch Andrea Fuentes
#Jasaan Dannah Joy Tempra
#ElSalvadorCity Ife Mae Abasula

A pageant empire is steadily rising down south in the country’s gateway to Mindanao. And the successful partnership of Governor Bambi Emano and #ExploreMisOr Head Atty. Jeffrey Saclot is proving that it can be done with unstinting leadership, hardwork and credibility.
From the reigning Miss Kuyamis 2020 Isobel Teaño of Opol – an #EcoAngel of MPE2020 in her own right – to last year’s Chella Grace Falconer of Medina who took part in Miss Millennial Philippines (and now Miss Bikini Philippines), from 2018’s Ana Monica Tan of Tagoloan who stepped up to the nationals and was crowned Miss Philippines Earth Air and Berjayneth Chee of Balingasag who also reigned as the Elemental Queen of Water back in 2017 – this quartet of beautiful Misamisnons shows the rest of the Philippines why Misamis Oriental is a province of both natural and feminine wonders.
Who will join their sorority and become #MissKuyamis 2021? Find out on January 7, 2021!

From Alubijid to Villanueva, below are the 20 Official Candidates for Miss Kuyamis 2021 during their virtual presentation yesterday. This year’s batch is a great level up from previous editions. One of them will become the successor of the reigning Isobel Teaño who will get the chance to represent the Province of Misamis Oriental in the nationals.
Check out their photos in the grid.
The Finals will be held in January 7, 2020 to be streamed live on the Explore MisOr page. I am so bummed that – due to the pandemic – it will be unlikely for me to fly to Misamis Oriental to cover/judge the pageant. It has been my annual trip since 2018. But I am happy nonetheless that the organizers assembled a strong group of ladies for 2021.
