The strong friendship started during Miss Universe 2014 held in Doral, Florida, U.S.A. when a large group of candidates forged a sisterhood that has stood the test of time even if we are just talking of an edition held more than three years ago. They’ve had reunions held in recent years, the last one being in Costa Rica around this time last year.
This year, and based on the latest IG post of Miss Universe Philippines 2014 MJ Lastimosa, thirty (30) of the ladies who participated in the Doral edition will be coming over to the country for their annual reunion around middle of next month. MJ, obviously, will be hosting them.
And with the fresh confirmation I received today from a good friend, Bohol Province will be one of the several pit stops in their vacation along with Cebu, Palawan and more. According to him, the visiting beauties will be accomodated at Alona Beach Resort, Amorita, Henann and Bellevue from August 19-21. The other details outside of Bohol are still unconfirmed, but the 3D/2N stay in Panglao alone is a guarantee of their arrival.
So expect ladies like Nia Sanchez of the U.S.A., Migbelis Castellanos of Venezuela and Kaci Fennell of Jamaica to be Philippine-bound soon!
Miss Universe 2014 Paulina Vega
In this, Paulina Vega Dieppa’s final photoshoot as Miss Universe 2014, she shows to us in the video below the unique child-like charm and qualities that won her the title last January in Doral.
And the days are really passing by like a gentle breeze. In just over a month from now, Paulina’s reign as Miss Universe will come to an end. Her successor will be crowned on December 20, just five days before Christmas. And do we expect another holiday-themed finals at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas? You betcha!

Misses Austria, Belgium and Lebanon will go Miss Universe after wrapping up with Miss World 2014
From London to Doral Miami they will go
Rolene Strauss of South Africa used to complete a quartet in this group. But after winning Miss World 2014 last Sunday, there’s only a trio of ladies left to pick up the pieces and restart with their individual quests for glory. Call them the pretty equivalents of what is known in Filipino pop culture as “curachas
“, or women without rest.
Julia Furdea of Austria, Anissa Blondin of Belgium and Saly Greige of Lebanon will have the shortest time interval for rest before departing for their next beauty mission – the 63rd Miss Universe in Doral Miami. If it’s any form of consolation, they still have the time to spend Christmas and New Year with loved ones in their respective countries. But no sooner than the fireworks welcoming 2015, they will each pack their bags and head straight to the host city of Donald Trump’s pageant event.
Will their game plans change? Or will we be seeing their ‘same old, same old’ versions once more?
Let’s keep an eye on the three. 😉
Pimbongkod's Shadow Play of Siam NatCos for the 63rd Miss Universe
Some Thais are calling their National Costume for the 63rd Miss Universe ‘quirky and adventurous’. Having been accustomed to the more dramatic traditional ensemble for many years now, the “Shadow of Play Siam” that will be worn by Pimbongkod ‘Ellie’ Chankaew is a step towards a more modern take on the culturally-rich heritage of the country. The fans are happy with the final product, but unsure if it will get the nod as the best in Doral Miami next month.
Anyways, two of the evening gowns of Ellie were also presented in the same event and both pieces have the wow factor that will make heads turn, as well as compliment her uber statuesque frame at the same time.

A sketch of what Migbelis will wear as traditional attire in Doral Miami
Next month, the 63rd Miss Universe will commence in Doral Miami. And with that comes the early previews of what National Costumes will be worn by some of the delegates.
I am safely assuming that Migbelis Castellanos will be wearing the Venezuelan sash, as well as the sketched modern traditional attire in this post. The whole ensemble looks uber sexy on paper, very Vegas showgirl in impact even.
If the final product looks anywhere near the drawings, then trust Osmel Sousa’s ward to stand out without really trying. 😉
Here's another sketch of the same

“When you are wearing red, the rest of your make-up should be understated and real casual. Red lipstick is the quickest youth-giving, skin-illuminating, eye-brightening beauty trick around.”
– Gio Flores’ Make-up Artistry
In a photo grid uploaded by KF’s Gio Flores (and his Make-up Artistry page) for Miss Universe Philippines 2014 MJ Lastimosa, it shows our Doral Miami-bound Queen in a figure-hugging red number with focus intended for the face and how red lipstick is used to highlight simple make-up application while garbed in the same bright color.
I am loving the subtle but effective high-definition touch on MJ’s look and how she should come across during affairs with a casual indulgence. Are you? 😉
Miss United States Elizabeth Safrit (rightmost) placed 2nd Princess in Miss World 2014 (Photo credit: Jet Mourinho)
Miss USA Andrea Neu (rightmost) was named Miss Air (or 1st Runner-Up) during Miss Earth 2014
Miss USA Allyn Rose (rightmost) placed 3rd Runner-Up in Miss Supranational 2014 two weeks back
Miss USA Tabitha Lipkin (center) defied the odds and scooped the Miss Scuba International 2014 title in Kota Kinabalu
2014 has been a relatively good year for American beauty queens to date. It may not be a truly winning year, but they have managed to score key placements worth noting for an on-and-off pageant powerhouse.
While the crown won by Tabitha Lipkin as Miss Scuba International 2014 is not in the same level of the bigger competitions, it is interesting to note that she is one of only a handful of ladies who nailed both the top victory and the Miss Congeniality award in the process.
And to add up to that feat, Andrea Neu got Miss Air in Miss Earth 2014, Elizabeth Safrit took the 2nd Princess nod in Miss World 2014 and Allyn Rose managed to get 3rd Runner-Up during Miss Supranational 2014. Not bad. Not bad at all.
Next stop is technically Miss Tourism International 2014, but I’m pretty sure fans and followers are more eager beavers for the 63rd Miss Universe in Doral Miami next month. How strong will Miss USA Nia Sanchez register in a batch considered to be one of the toughest in years? Another runner-up placement in the offing, perhaps? Olivia Culpo’s win last 2012 in Las Vegas is still too fresh in our minds.
Will Miss USA Nia Sanchez continue the runner-up streak or do a lot better than being part of the court?
What do you think, dear readers? 😉
