Before I go sentimental and all about my December 25 blog…let me share first videos of different versions of my favorite song for the Holidays…Grown-Up Christmas List
Here’s Michael Buble’s take on the song…calm, somber and very affecting…

Now, take a look at our very own Charice Pempengco’s version of the same…

Kelly Clarkson pitches in with her adaptation…

Finally…here is newly-proclaimed Protege’ winner Krizza Neri singing the same during the finals of the show…

2011 has not exactly been the best of years, even to this blogger. A string of trying circumstances set me back not just once or twice. But with all the might I can muster, I pulled myself back to my feet…still wobbly but walking straight nevertheless. I’d be a hypocrite if I don’t admit that my Christmas wish list is dominated by personal wants.
I’m not insensitive, though. The deadly typhoon and floods that struck Cagayan de Oro, Iligan City and other parts of Mindanao just recently have left me emotional and full of sympathy for all our brothers and sisters who will be spending their Christmas in worse than bleak surroundings, the barest of food to partake and without a shelter of their own.
Optimism is not the only key to help us get through such heart-breaking scenarios. And so, I fervently pray for all Filipinos to have stronger resilience to rise from a deep fall, greater fortitude to do better amidst continuous difficulties and the unstinting spirit to pay forward whatever blessings – tangible or otherwise – we receive.

It is never easy to be brave, determined and selfless all the time. But if we don’t start somewhere, we can never get anywhere.
Read the lyrics of the song “Grown-Up Christmas List” (or sing-along with one of the videos above) and feel the inspiration as it creeps into your heart…
Do you remember me?
I sat upon your knee
I wrote to you
With childhood fantasies
Well, I’m all grown-up now
And still need help somehow.(can you still help somehow)
I’m not a child
But my heart still can dream
So here’s my lifelong wish
My grown-up christmas list
Not for myself
But for a world in need
No more lives torn apart
That wars would never start,
And time would heal all hearts
And everyone would have a friend
And right would always win
And love would never end
This is my grown-up christmas list
As children we believed
The grandest sight to see
Was something lovely
Wrapped beneath our tree.
Well heaven surely knows
That packages and bows
Can never heal
A hurting human soul
No more lives torn apart
That wars would never start
And time would heal all hearts
And everyone would have a friend
And right would always win
And love would never end
This is my grown-up christmas list
What is this illusion called the innocence of youth?
Maybe only in our blind belief can we ever find the truth
(There’d be)
No more lives torn apart
That wars would never start
And time would heal all hearts
And everyone would have a friend
And right would always win
And love would never end, oh
This is my grown-up christmas list

A Blessed Christmas to One and All! 🙂
