Melanie has a potential beauty queen in daughter Michelle
Beautiful Michelle Dee
First, it was her niece Wynwyn Marquez who crossed over from showbusiness to try her luck in a national beauty pageant.
Now, Miss International 1979 Melanie Marquez might get a brighter chance with her daughter (with Derek Dee) Michelle to fulfill the dream of having someone follow her colorful trail as a titleholder. And by the looks (and height) of this newly-signed Bench endorser, the chances of achieving full bloom as a Bb. Pilipinas winner is getting brighter.
What are your thoughts on Michelle Dee? Does she have what it takes to approximate – if not surpass – her mother’s achievements? 🙂

If the evolution of the Filipino Terno fascinates you, then you should get a copy of this book
There is a new coffee table book available in your favorite Bench stores, and it’s titled “Fashionable Filipinas
” by Gino Gonzales and Mark Lewis Higgins of Slim’s Fashion and Arts School. It’s all about the evolution of the Philippines traditional dress from the early years dating back to 1860 and covering a century that stretches until 1960.
According to this article from L’Officiel Manila:
According to Higgins and Gonzales, “although other forms of native dress exist in the Philippines, most would be indigenous or tribal in origin. The terno, however, is the most highly evolved among native Philippine clothing. Taking inspiration first from Spanish fashion, and later from the couture houses of Paris, theterno became one of the most progressive national dresses in Southeast Asia.”

Know more about the Fashionable Filipinas by grabbing a copy of the book at any of the major Bench outlets nationwide. It sure will be a great topic of conversation among your friends and pageant-loving groups. 🙂

The Miss World Philippines 2015 Official Candidates did their usual sponsor visits, but this time, they were started off on sweets. Literally. At J Cuppacakes, they thought that it would be just a quick drop for some photo ops. Instead, they were given a tour of the outlet, tasted some of the yummy delights and were even given a demo on how to make the best tasting cupcakes. Check out the photos on this page as shot by Sharene Valencia Roco.
Afterwards, it was on to shopping at Bench for everyone. And you know what happens to ladies let loose inside a clothes outlet. They just went ga-ga over the latest collection and finished the day with some bagged hauls. You can see their happy faces all around. 🙂
Afterwards, the beauties had a fun time picking out cool clothes at Bench

When Transgender Model and Advocate Geena Rocero walked the stage during “The Naked Truth” last Saturday night at the SM MOA Arena, her entrance was met with a lot of oohs and aahs. Some of the uninitiated were simply in awe with this exotic-looking Filipina who could have definitely been a Bb. Pilipinas contender during one of the recent editions. Her sensual vibe was just too unmissable.
Of course, even if we could transplant to 2009 how Geena looks right now, BPCI still wouldn’t consider her participation. And she might not join the beeline anyways. What’s more important is that she is furthering awareness for Gender Proud. Even if it means walking down the ramp in skimpy undergarments, she wouldn’t mind.
I’m proud of this beauty! 🙂
Bruce Casanova captured "The Naked Truth" in all its gloss and high-definition.
An army of scantily-clad models invaded the Arena
Let’s be honest.
Nobody braved the big crowds at the SM MOA Arena last just to watch celebrities and models wearing the latest in denim fashion. Bench knows – and You & I know – that everyone is looking forward to the more daring souls who stripped to their skimpiest bikinis and underwear and walked the huge stage with pride and a whiff of Eau de Toilette behind their ears.
And the roars and excitement couldn’t be more felt when hot male celebrities like Tom Rodriguez and the first-ever-underwear-exposing Dennis Trillo took to the ramp and raised the temperature to boiling levels.

Jake Cuenca in his final Bench big outing
Of course, nobody can’t deny Bench veteran Jake Cuenca the spotlight in wearing the practically-nothing-to-hide garter-filled-with-just-a-small-pouch thingy that was to be his signature curtain call before retiring from the once-every-two-years affair. His body may not be in the best shape, but his confidence (and exhibition-savvy
) onstage remains unparalleled.

Ben Chan (in black coat) and some of his celebrity topbillers for this year's Bench Denim and Underwear Show
Last Friday, an exclusive preview was held for the Press to drum up “The Naked Truth”, the Bench Denim and Underwear Show scheduled on September 19 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
Present were some of the celebrities who will walk the ramp wearing the latest collection in the clothing brand’s OJ Denim and Bench Body lines. The likes of actors Tom Rodriguez, Dennis Trillo, Martin del Rosario and Dominic Roque graced the event, as well as singer and indie performer Markki Stroem, athlete Arnold Van Opstal, international model Allison Harvard and Miss World 1st Runner-up Gwen Ruais.
The show will try to raise the bar for 2014 by pushing the envelope in the show’s concept and revelations. And it would be an understatement to say that this is going to be the hottest ticket to get a hold of.
So if I were you, I’d start shopping (splurging if you will) at Bench to receive an invite. 😉

Stills from the Bench Go-See for 'The Naked Turth'
For those asking for pictures taken from the go-see of Bench for ‘The Naked Truth’ Denim and Underwear Show happening on September 19 at the SM MOA arena, the photo grid above and the left image are some samples of what took place at the Bench Tower.
But if you want to see all the snapshots (as photographed in Black&White by JL Javier) Bench has provided, click HERE.
Better yet, why not make sure that you get an invite for the hot event by shopping at Bench during the long weekend? It sure won’t be equivalent to a mosh pit location, but a lower box ticket should be acceptable. 😉
