Look who just got engaged…
Miss World Philippines 2015 and Miss World 2015 Top 10 Finisher Hillarie Parungao!
Best wishes to you and future husband Arllie Donato!
I’m so happy for you, my dear! 😘
Miss World Philippines 2015 and Miss World 2015 Top 10 Hillarie Danielle Parungao came dressed in an eye-catching white number that complemented the outfit of her companion who happens to be boyfriend Bill Castañeda.
Bill & Hillarie. It became a delightful piece of small talk about how I would call them in jest as the “Asian Clintons”. But kidding aside, their relationship is still relatively new and we can only wish their togetherness to grow stronger in the months to come.
Truly, Hillarie’s glow is unmistakeable. Don’t you agree, dear readers? 😉
Good friends Mireia and Miss World Philippines 2015 (and Miss World 2015 Top 10) Hillarie Parungao reunited as well. We can still remember them being close during last year’s competition in Sanya, China.
As for Rohit, the dashing Indian (aside from joining in the charity events) also met up with Miss World 2013 Megan Young and Miss World Philippines 2016 Catriona Gray. Shades of a dinner with a former titleholder, a reigning titleholder and possibly a future titleholder for Miss World Organization (MWO).
For now, the good-looking duo are still billeted at Conrad Manila but will be checking out soon to fly off to their next destination.

Miss World 2015 Mireia Lalaguna and Mister World 2016 Rohit Khandelwal will fly in to Manila to serve as judges during the finals of Miss World Philippines 2016. And due to the request of Julia Morley and the Miss World Organization (MWO) for the reigning titleholders to be accommodated, the Coronation Night has been effectively moved to October 9 – same venue at the Manila Hotel tent still.
This will definitely add that extra level of excitement because people will show more interest in the event. Let us hope that the organizers, network (GMA-7) and Viva Entertainment will be able to capitalize well on the presence of Mireia and Rohit.
And just to add an extra spice, Julia Morley might just be with them as well. 😉
So for now, let’s give it to Hillarie, the snow bear. She is really having a fun time in this vacation. And surely, the next few days will even be more enjoyable for both. 🙂
And with the important BWAP Projects of Julia Morley and Miss World Organization in the Philippines, I can only anticipate a future visit of the reigning titleholder which will give way to a reunion between the two BFFs – Hillarie and Mireia!
Meanwhile, our MWP was a sight to behold during the Mark Bumgarner fashion show at Dusit Thani Manila earlier this week. The two side photos in the grid above were taken from the said event. 🙂
If we do the reverse, Europeans are finding it more difficult to win the Universe because the last titleholder from that region was the dethroned Oxana Fedorova of Russia back in 2002 and before that, Mona Grudt of Norway in 1990. Modern Miss World history has favored Asian winners outside of India only during the last ten years with two Chinese (Zhang Zilin and Wenxia Yu) and a Filipina (Megan Lynne Young) getting the #1 spots for 2007, 2012 and 2013, respectively.
So where or what is the sense in all of these rantings? I am not intellectualizing on the subject matter. But in terms of recency, Europeans are a lot less lucky in Miss Universe, while Africans are getting the smallest slice of the pie in Miss World. I really don’t have a big problem with that. As long as the Philippines is on top or always near the top, I’m all good.
Okay, another brand new week has started, and more days to squeeze my brain for new topics to blog about. 😉
Sofia Nikitchuk of Russia placed 1st Runner-Up and Maria Harfanti of Indonesia was named 2nd Runner-Up. Synetta Myrie of Jamaica and Valerie Abou Chacra of Lebanon completed the Top 5.
As for Miss Philippines Hillarie Parungao, she made it to Top 10 and was named winner of the Multimedia Challenge. Not bad. To place that high in a field of 114 is no mean feat. She deserves a good pat on the back.
Miss Lebanon Valerie Abou Chacra is my pick to win Miss World 2015
But then again, a forecast needs to be made. And from where I stand, I can see strong potentials in Miss Lebanon Valerie Abou Chacra to perform well enough to outshine her pursuers for the big win. This lady has the profile of Miss World all over her – the beauty of face and heart with a far more realistic (doable if you will) purpose to spread during a likely reign if she gets the judges’ nod.
There is a good number of other likely comers, too. And I am happy to note that Miss Philippines Hillarie Danielle Parungao is one of them. I am placing our very own in the Top 3, or 2nd Runner-Up if you will. Ahead of her, though, I am keeping Miss Poland Marta Palucka as 1st Princess because this Polish bet has been coming on more strongly the past week. Hence, Lebanon, Poland and the Philippines make up my winning troika.
There are three other contestants under my radar for top placements. They are Catharina Choi of Brazil, Hinarere Taputu of France and Tess Alexander of Australia. If one of them gets the good break of shining brighter during the contest proceedings, then my highest players can be quickly altered to accommodate a switch.
Watch Valerie Abou Chacra and her Beauty With A Purpose Project. There’s nothing earthshaking about what she wants to accomplish, but you can feel the sincerity and love in her heart for the children, coming from a devastating family crisis that united each member more strongly. No frills, just plain honest-to-goodness strength of character with no excessively dreamy ambitions to change the world in one year.

And just to complete a Top 10, I will add Anyela Galante of Venezuela, Lu Yuan of PR China, Aditi Arya of India and Maria Alejandra Lopez of Colombia to the mix.
By the way, the judges who will decide on Miss World 2015 are Julia Morley (Chairwoman of the Miss World Organization), Mike Dixon (Miss World Musical Director), Lisa Hanna (Miss World 1993), Zhang Zilin (Miss World 2007), Ivian Sarcos (Miss World 2011) and Yu Wenona (Miss World 2012).
Let’s see whose fate it is to become Miss World 2015. I would love more than anything else for the Philippines to clinch a 2nd Miss World title, of course. But my gut feel is saying that someone else is destined to wear the blue crown by the end of tonight’s show. 😉
If you have CCTV (China Central Television) on your cable channel line-up, you can watch Miss World 2015 live. if you’re in the US, it will be aired over at the E! Channel. The live streaming links will be posted later before the show starts at 8:00PM Manila time.
Pia, Hillarie, Christi and Leren will start their big fights one after another (Art layout: Pao Oap)
First stop is Magdeburg, Germany where Christi Lynn McGarry will vie to become the very first Miss Intercontinental winner of the Philippines. A lot is at stake for our statuesque representative because this is her second time joining the same pageant. And based on my following of the pre-pageant proceedings, our bet has a strong chance of making it. The ball is round, of course. But Miss Philippines is truly a regal presence amidst the roster of candidates this year.
Next in line is Sanya, China where another Miss Philippines – Hillarie Danielle Parungao – will fight for the honor of becoming the 2nd Miss World victor of the country. This one is a much more difficult challenge considering the number of delegates (114) and the host country that has never really been a big fan of our bets to reach the top. But I trust our entry to give it her absolute best. Entering the finals as an underdog could prove beneficial in a way. The mission is strong, but the pressure is just right. I’d really like to see Hil place prominently well.
3rd is the most important venue – Las Vegas, Nevada, USA – where the 64th Miss Universe (or Miss Universe 2015 if you will) is taking place. This is the one solid beauty pageant the whole Philippines would really like to snatch. It’s long overdue, and our Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach is shining bright like a diamond in spite of the headstrong competitors circling her like a school of sharks ready to gang up on one goldfish. Our Queen is game, so much so that she has pledged to bring back the best Christmas for all Filipinos – the DIC Crown.
Last but not the least, Putrajaya in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia will be the setting for the finals of Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International 2015 where Mutya ng Pilipinas 2015 Leren Mae Bautista will attempt to end 2015 on a note higher than the Petronas Towers. Our track record of pageant winnings in this country has been nothing short of amazing. And while some of you pageant fans have not really been convinced of the prestige the title brings, please keep in mind that a win will always be an achievement where our delegate poured her heart and soul into the fight.
#ForThePhilippines all the way, Pia, Hillarie, Christi and Leren! 😉
