Let’s compare swimsuit notes now. While the assorted tile background can get quite distracting (aside from the sense of bathroom corner I am getting), I simply focused on the Binibinis in gold-colored DR Swim variations. I chose a dozen beauties who are giving me that sense of flirtatious vibe that doesn’t get overboard. There is a thin line between class and otherwise, just as there is a marked difference between being sweet and exuding an aura of sexiness befitting a Binibini. Our opinions may differ on a few of them, but these are the ones floating my boat, so to speak.

  2. For MU, Catriona is of course qualified (height, beauty, communication skills, etc). But if the MU crown is the aim, I honestly see her blending in with the other contestants, especially the Europeans/Caucasians. Her face is not the “chiseled-type”, but more on the sweet side. At least for me. Make-up can do wonders of course. Her personality comes across sweet and nice, but the effortless spunk of an MU is something I still can’t see. There is still a trace of “trying” in her part. This is also what I thought made her not win Ms World, especially on the QA part. So maybe work on how to make it look as if it’s already there… ironic yes because natural charm is something people can’t really “work on” /change. Probably just give off that blend of fierce+calm, can’t explain it really but let’s call it spunk. I see her doing better in Ms International.

    The raw beauties I see for MU that needs rigid polishing is Jehza and Sandra (girls, you have “IT” in you. If Ara can do it, you can do it too! Let it out and don’t hold back!), Michelle, Karen (almost perfect, just needed more legs lol, but her spunk can make up for it. Her aura is also villain-y most of the time, I don’t know why, but maybe she can balance that with her sweeter side).

    Vickie and Ahtisa are also nice for Ms International. I also like Muriel’s beauty. Still have to check their web interviews though.

  3. All of the costumes. I have to say that Bb33 has the best Southern Philippines costume, the black and gold colors just made it exquisite.

    I also want to COMMEND the costume designer of Anjame’s. It was one of the most unique this year. I loved the concept of the KKK soldier. It broke the typical stereotype in the local pageantry. I hope we see more “outside the box” concepts in the future just like Thailand’s tuktuk.

        Natalia Glebova is a Russian immigrant, who became Canada’s Miss U rep, and eventually became Miss Universe.

        For the ignorant idiots out there, do you think Venezuela’s general population largely look like their beauty pageant reps? Majority of their reps come from the minority White Hispanic population. Most Venezuelans are brown like majority of the Filipinos. Same holds true with most Latin American countries, in terms of their beauty pageant reps.

        Are [some] Filipinos actually the narrow-minded ones in this age of inclusivity?

    there was a sharp focus and determination in that performance
    there was an overwhelmingly positive reaction because she did her
    homework when it came to the design and the presentation of her
    national costume and respect to the culture that it represented

    • Cat totally deserves to be the 2018 Jag Denim Queen & MUP!!!!! She effortlessly totally slayed the stage and made you forget about the other candidates and even the reigning crown holders! Can’t believe she was able to do that considering the other candidates were good too. Cat is in her own league!!!

      • Pro athletes, not so sure if they are a dime a dozen, athletes(those who play as a hobby or used to play) maybe they are a dime a dozen. Models turned beauty queens, be it commercial models, ramp models etc etc are a dime a dozen. People you teach from scratch who have no experience with pageants and modeling and still can perform aren’t a dime a dozen though. Training for sports professionally everyday has different mechanics as someone who trains to model, ramp or be a beauty queen. 🙂 lets all support who we want to and not bash the others, whomever wins represents our country remember that #WorldPeace

        Michelle’s story is actually something a lot of girls can relate to no. They dont need to be models to be a queen. Her transformation and journey in itself is commendable.
        She is battling past Title holders, professional pageant girls (hihihihihih), commercial models and such who have connections in the industry already.
        The fact that she is constantly improving and showing us that if you just put your heart into it then things will happen!!!!

      • The Singkil performance of the Bayanihan Dance group in Miss Universe 1974 when it was held in Manila. The umbrella holder and the Singkil princess. Yup that type of costume was seen in the Miss Universe stage.

      The best presentation of the NatCos for me is Sandra Lemonon! The way she walked is exuding sexiness and confidence. From afar, she looks like a sea goddess, defending her kingdom. And the way she played with her “sphere” is a nice touch.

      Nagwala ang Kia theatre nung tinawag si Catriona 🙂 She looks very graceful indeed in her NatCos. Beautiful.

      I’m glad to see underdogs Stephanie Joy, Rose Antonette Mendoza, Margaret Joson got called for the Top 10 Best in NatCos 🙂

    • as someone said in Misso forum, Cat has a similar body frame to that of Ariadna Gutierrez (Colombia15). Only difference is Ariadna’s was super toned kaya nagkaroon ng bewang pero mejo malapad pa rin bec of the lower part of her rib cage. I think that toned sculpted body or Ariadna is the best possible result for Cat and even Michelle without rib reduction surgery

Concerning “post-production-whitened” underarms, one way to AVOID “it” (darkened pits) was explained to me by a female college classmate (long ago) : NOT use antiperspirant or deodorant as these irritate (not to mention stain the garment)! Instead, just change clothing FREQUENTLY to stay fresh and dry. She NEVER used ANY product on hers. And it worked! Creamy pits. WOW!

    is kinda freaky…the knee cap especially because it gives the knee that structure
    that it connects the break from the upper leg and the lower leg

    have you guys heard of ingres that artist from the 19th century
    who did a lot of subtle alterations to the anatomy of the women
    he painted..like the grande odalisque for example, adding extra vertebraes
    so that her pose look more pleasant aesthetically despite being anatomically
    incorrect. I can take it from a painting as it’s a little removed from reality
    but photos can pass for the real thing much more easily

  47. It’s weird not to notice, but JEHZA AND that Patalinjug girl posed quite similar. However, Jehza has that more alluring look and the other one looks very posy. The placement of her hand is very distracting to me. At least Jehza placed her hand on her hip……Both has nice face, but that Patalinjug girl needs some tutorial.

    • Mon, Teresa Licaros – MUP 2007 – also graduated summa cum laude (BA at UP). As well as class salutatorian (UP Law).

    • Likewise sending a full package and experienced candidate to MU2018 is not an assurance as well. If I remember it right, Maricar Balagtas a pageant veteran who even won an international title is a clapper in MU. In case, the full package and experienced candidate be brought to MU2018 will she be another Olivia Jordan beaten twice by a Pinay. So will an Indonesian win this year’s MU crown? Will history repeat, MW2013 + MW2015 = PHI. MW2016 + MU2018 = INO?

      • @bryan: if my memory serves me right, IDN is only 2nd runner up in MW2016 and PRI won. And MW2015 is ESP, not PH. What are you talking about?

      • Maricar was a veteran candidate and had a very minor crown under her belt, but she wasn’t pretty to be in the semifinals…..sorry.

      • Hmm I also believe it has something to do with sash factor during maricars time.

        Philippines sash factor back in those days were not so great. It was during trumps time and it only changed when there was an out cry in 2009 when Bianca didn’t make the cut.

    • Consistent. Not always #1 in every activity but she is consistently there among the best.

    was a challenge
    there were several obstacles:

    1. gold swimsuit is hard to pull off
    2. blue eyeshadow is not going to compliment everyone
    3. the patterned tiles can be distracting
    4. the palm tree leaves…

    so who overcame these.

  67. Catriona, Eva (hers is just perfection), and Michelle slayed the glamshots. Honorable mentions are Sandra, Ahtisa, and surprisingly, Binibini 39 Trixie smtg. Not quite there: Jehza – girl what happened, you looked bored and distant. There was obviously no connection with the camera when this was taken, Karen – too close-up, too much armpit, and too much eye make-up. Had her swimsuit showed more skin, her photo could’ve passed off as a calendar girl’s, and Vickie – I would’ve given her passing marks but when I accidentally zoomed in on her face she looked old and tired and I just could not unsee it aftr that.

    I would say Vickie, Sigrid, Michelle and Jehza caught my attention. I like the s-curve from Eva but the hand in the ass was just too much for a beauty pageant shoot imho.

    Again, I would like an insight on why Ena Velasco is in the radar of the BPCI board. Not that I’m saying she doesn’t deserved to be talked about but she’s very under the radar at the moment.
