  1. I knew she would at least be 1st runner-up… hindi ko kinaya ang Q&A…

Masyado kayong bilib sa mga latina, panahon na natin ngayon ang matagal na nating inaasam so we must savor it while it lasts. Go go go Philippines!

    • because she won the national pageant, thats why she does have the right to represent your country in miss earth. YOU DONT KNOW THAT??? YOU THINK SHE’S JUST HAND PICKED?? YOURE IGNORANT!

If that happens, papapel c pawee sa mglobe and might compete sa candidate angels ni manang Mia hihihi.

  7. Thank you Reina Teresita. Your win came in at a perfect time. We need to be distracted from another Philippine win… How ironic. hihihi…

Magandang libangan. Pampalipas oras. None of my friends and family can relate to my fascination. LOL

    • ANO KAMO BONGOK700, NAGBOBOBOBOHAN KA? BOBO K TALAGA IDIOT!

prepare hard next time mga losers.
country of the year pa rin tayo dahil top 6 or winner c rachel sa mu.

Take at it is. In the end, hakot award tayo ng crowns…yehey !!!

    • Actually, nakalimutan na Namin Ang Miss Earth with Wynwyn’s win eh but napaalala mo ulit with this post. Grrr! Hahaha!

    • that reminds me of MU1999. Yun winner talo talaga sa facial beauty pero grabe, she gave the best answer to the final question kaya 1st runner-up lang si Miriam.

Na choke si Miriam sa final Q&A round kaya naungasan sya (and even Spain) who were both consistent 1-2 in Swimsuit and Evening Gown rounds… ganun tlaga ang life. You win some. You lose some. Some luck here and there.

      • BOTSWANA won in an AMERICAN-owned pageant in TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO for the FIRST time. #ForThePhilippinesInThePhilippinesByThePhilippines

  10. Beauty can only take you so far. Intelligence can take you further. Self-confidence can make you soar high. Detractors have nitpicked on Karen’s facial “flaws.” The judges did not see them. What they saw was self-confidence. The decision was unanimous and from where they were seated, I don’t think they would have seen her “imperfections” but her total
package already. Sorry naysayers but there is no zoom in the actual pageant. The judges are seated from a distance and they only have seconds to lock-in their scores.

    • spot on ka kapatid !!! the mere fact that ALL judges were unanimous in favor for karen means they were really impressed. And to were they are seated they saw not an ugly girl but a true queen. fyi, I saw karen in person and she’s pretty with commanding presence. She doesn’t look bad. ?the circulating photos does not give her justice. Those were bad angles/ bad shots

    • I agree. Case # 1 : Maxine Medina at Miss Universe in January this year. Maxine is probably the most beautiful Philippine representative for MU. When she fumbled her Q & A, she was bashed to death by the netizens, calling her dumb and a complete bimbo. We can be harsh to our own queens, we expect them to be nothing less than perfection. But in this life, you can’t have everything, that is the reality of things. Even Pia experienced some hard core bashing during her time because she’s not in great shape when she competed again. I think we should cut them some slack because of the impossible expectations and unrealistic standards of beauty we impose on them and start seeing them as real women who have flaws but still fabulous despite it. After all, perfection, and being perfect , is boring.

      • Maxine most beautiful MUP? I hope you are just kidding because if not, you are totally out of your mind.

  11. To all doubters of Karen’s win, you are wasting your time. She has already won and there is nothing wrong with that at all.

      • Mere speculation. What standard of beauty are you talking about? Whose standard of beauty? Why would Karen limit herself from what she wants to pursue in her life? The last time I checked she is free to do so. Don’t you find it strange that we can’t accept her win but accept another’s? I brought up SGV to build my case that the decision is objective rather than subjective opinion. In this world,
        numbers don’t lie unfortunately.

U must possess the pulchritude of a goddess that you have to represent our country in int’l beauty tilts! Go for it dahling!

      • Hi Anony i get what u’re saying but i think u went too far by saying she is too ugly and come off as she didn’t have the right to join the said pageant. Please don’t put a blame to Ms. Ibasco for her win but direct it to the org instead for choosing her. We have no right to tell her what she should do with her life or the decisions she makes. She simply chose to join ME for a good reason and it so happens she was chosen for that JOB as a ME ambasadress.

Hindi biro ung mga gawain ng isang ME and it was even mentioned by Katherine Espin during one of her interviews before she passed her crown.

The advocacy of ME requires lots of dedication and good knowledge of what needs to be known. Environmental issues and etc might seem easy to our ears but if we try to think deeper and more scientifically of the things needed to be done, its not easy. Nakakalimutan niyo yata na ung ME indi lng puro glamour.

When her name was called as the winner, I also have the same thoughts as everyone else did but after a few moments i realized that Karen very much suits to that kind of job because of her background of deep knowledge to what she’s actually competing for. D niyo ba nakita kung paano cya sumasagot sa mga tanong? its very obvious the way she spoke na may knowledge talaga cya sa ganyang mga fields of environmental chuchu which is actually what ME focuses on.

I do think everyone has the right and the freedom to express themselves but sobra talaga ang pagmumura niyo eh. She represented our country and won tapos ganun ung isusukli nyo sa kanya? She trained for a good toned body, the right posture, pasarela and everything with time dedication.

Everything was in the hands of the judges and org.

Papasar ba kayo?

Everyone needs to tone down the bashing.
We instead should give thanks to her efforts and defend her. Find the better sides rather than add on to the commotions.

        WORLD PEACE!

      • This kind of thinking is for the uneducated one. Show your face so people would see how you look like and compare it to the one that you are saying ugly.

      • apparently Adrian, before ka magkapagdeliver ng numbers you have to be subjective… the judges have to be subjective… kaya palpak yang idea mo of bringing an audit firm sa scenario…

ganito lang naman kasimple mandaya eh.. dahil gusto or may discussion between the camp of Ibasco and ME, bibigyan ni Loriane ng mataas or perfect 10 score si Ibasco sa face value at ibaba lahat.

      • Anony, you’re the reason why many women suffer with low self-esteem. It is people like you who keep promoting beauty as a superficial one dimensional concept. How can you possibly say that Karen should know “better” simply because she’s not as stunning as the other candidates. Karen joined MEP, gave her best performance and won the national title. And as a representative of our country, it is her job to give it her all in the international competition. Karen did what she was supposed to do. It’s not her fault that the judges gravitated towards her. Hopefully you can learn to widen your mind because at the end of the day, ME and MU will keep breaking the socially constructed concept of beauty!

        more dislike please ahahahha

    • I am amazed at how some tiny noisy quarters keep on insisting on the archaic one-dimensional concept of beauty, let alone the colonial Western standard. Wake up– this is year 2017 and the world has changed! The shackles of colonialism has been broken and the world view of beauty has expanded beyond the narrow physical concept to include character, brains, social compassion. Even on the physical dimension, the standard is no longer just white skin, pointed nose, long legs, blonde, wide blue or green eyes. Beauty is not a universal concept; it is culturally-defined. To some cultures, Oriental look is beautiful. To others, African look is most beautiful.

Make no mistake about it: Karen is a beautiful Oriental beauty! She should not be judged on Western standards. Moreover, her inner glow makes that Oriental look all the more beautiful. This inner glow— brains, character, compassion, achievements—is not cultural but a universal concept.

Those hysterics on “delicadeza” for her win in the home turf despite her alleged “ugly” looks are just suffering from acute case of colonial mentality. Are we to give way to foreign contestants (read: white Western beauty stereotypes) even ours is most deserving? The gross irony is that those blabbering “delicadeza” are the ones without an iota of it as they trumpet for all the world to hear the twisted innuendo that a hometown decision has been made because the winner is “not gorgeous”.

      • ay wait sorry ha… Walang nagsasabi na western standards dito… mapa west east south or north ka ng mundong ito hindi naman talaga dapat napasok yung mukhang yun… mas acceptable pa ang 2 blacks na makapasok sa top 8 over her… 6 sa nakapasok sa top 8 eh above par sa western standards 1 eh globally accepted as an average, and then Karen Ibasco as an exception because of what inner beauty hahahaha kakaloka! so nakita nila yun sa category ng beauty and poise?!?!?!? kaswerteng bata biro mo yun nilabas lang yun ngiping kabayo eh nakita na agad ang inner beauty…

  12. Akala ko Francis Libiran or Mak Tumang ang gown nya?

The 25-year-old beauty queen stunned in a shimmering emerald green gown by Ezra Santos during the evening gown competition.

During the Q&A portion, Winwyn answered with stance and empathy. She was asked, “How would you promote Hispanic Americana culture with language barriers?”

    Here’s her well-thought-out answer:

“Language can be learned, but the will and determination to contribute something to the organization cannot. It has to come from the heart and it has to be natural.

I believe that kindness is a universal language. If you treat people with tolerance, patience, and love, you will understand each other.

Hispanic culture is not about language only. It’s about love for God, love for country, love for history and culture and love for family.

As a Filipina with a unique heritage, I have instilled that.

I am ready to promote the Hispanic culture, not just in Asia, but in the whole world. It is time to celebrate the Hispanic culture, It is meant to be celebrated.”

    • Naku kaya ko sauluhin yan if translated to Spanish. In my case kaya ko sabihin yan in Spanish with conviction at puso kasi nakakaintindi ako ng spanish thru reading. And i can speak spanish if memorised.

  13. By the very question posed to Teresita, it is clear that RH organization will assume our next rep will be able to speak the tongue. They will not be so lenient next time. And we should not be complacent.

But because it takes a LIFETIME to MASTER any language, I suggest we do the next best thing : support Hispano-American initiatives to make their culture – food and music, in particular – more known in our part of the world. Let’s consume more savory Mexican corn-based treats and stuff ourselves silly with Argentina-style empanadas and get gassy on the meat-and-bean stew, feijoada. Ask radio DJ’s to play Astrud Gilberto, Celia Rodriguez, Alejandro Sanz, Julio Iglesias, and Menudo retro’s.

Did we not popularize Thalia before Indonesia produced their own version of Marimar?

Ben Chan and Jonas Gaffud have begun in their own way by hiring Brazilian models, while ME and Eat Bulaga had Priscilla Mireilles and Daiana Menezes, respectively.

  14. Truly deserving. A candidate may lack the towering height, but her face and poise will save her… nothing we can do if the candidate lacks the face. It is a hopeless case to be brutally frank. Hope the future candidates will be very honest and level-headed in judging themselves.

Wyn deserves it and she was overall radiant.

    • Ah, I remember even Jonas Gaffud mentioned it in an interview: first, the girl should have the face.
