Team Netherlands will face Team Spain in today's World Cup final. Are they ready to win their first?
Miss Universe-Netherlands 2010 Desiree van den Berg: will she carry a Dutch victory to the 2010 Miss Universe Pageant next month?
Sportswriters are one in saying that there is something new in this year’s World Cup final scheduled today in South Africa. Finalists Spain and the Netherlands have never met in any World Cup final. It’s Spain’s first final appearance. On the other hand, the Dutch contingent will be trooping to the endgame for a 3rd time after near-wins in 1974 and 1978. Third time lucky for the Netherlands? We’ll see…
In the meantime, Miss Universe-Netherlands 2010 was crowned last week. Desiree van den Berg, a 23 year-old student from Santpoort studying Fertility Medicine at the University of Amsterdam, will be wearing the country’s sash as she vies for the 2010 Miss Universe Pageant in Las Vegas next month. She hopes to become the 2nd Dutch winner after Angela Visser in 1989.
There is no direct correlation whatsoever between the World Cup and the Miss Universe Pageant. But if luck dwells on the side of the Dutch and wins soccer’s most prestigious trophy, what are the chances of Desiree duplicating that triumph in beauty pageant’s most prestigious crown? Whimsical me thinks that Donald Trump might consider it newsworthy to a certain extent, but no more than that. So it’s all in the hands of Desiree van den Berg to come up with a fierce gameplan before flying to Sin City.
Win or not, Desiree van den Berg will always have a steady career on her back. She is studying to become a Doctor.
Succes gewenst, Desiree! 😉
