Before I release my final prediction for Bb. Pilipinas 2016, here is one last blog feature on a Binibini who has been gradually getting a lot of good feedbacks from pageant followers. She is able to keep her “top favorite” status always afloat.

Maria Mika Maxine Medina is on solid ground entering the last couple of days in competition. By Sunday night, she will know if her efforts will be rewarded with a good crown.

But let’s not get stuck with that thought just yet. Read her personal account of the whole Bb. Pilipinas journey and how she will always fondly look back to everything that happened for the past months.

Pageants are highly celebrated in our country. Competitive and anticipated. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that I will be able to join the most prestigious competition in the Philippines, which is Binibining Pilipinas. As persuaded by my friends & family who have been asking me to try it out, I finally gave in. But God making his way 3 years ago, I was already a candidate but I didn’t make it through because of some work conflicts. Now, I’m trying my luck and aiming for the title.

As I started my way in Binibining Pilipinas, I was still learning the tools of the trade on how to be a lady who represents the traditional “Filipina” like the other candidates. And kid you not, it was never easy. It needs hard work and discipline… I am having mixed feelings of being excited and nervous but to be in this competition is already a “pressure”, “challenging yet fun”… But I always lift my self up and keep in mind that joining this competition will make me a better person. Besides, I am learning a thing or two all the time.

My journey in this competition is unexpected. Yes, I’m pressured and everyone is competitive but I learn how to manage my self to be “just myself” and enjoy each and every moment I have in this competition. The friendships built, the travels, exploring the different cultures of other contestants and the events. Again, nothing more rewarding than having the feeling of being with your friends as sisters journeying together for a goal!

The best advice that I can give is to be true to yourself. Grow gradually and gracefully ’cause when you learn to love yourself all the colors would come out in you. Keep in mind that you are making your own history, your own victory.

Now what do you think of Binibini 29? Keep in mind that I re-blogged about her last because I was able to pin her down only last night. Nevertheless, this girl is confident and will never let up in her ultimate objective. And by now, you know what that is. 😉

    I AM her cousin and this is how I describe her…. she is naturally graceful , sweet and charming…. She is very simple and classy. . . Very Smart as well on how she handles herself…. She may break some rules. . . But she will assure you she is following her heart,mind and Soul.. Her beauty simply captivates you

  4. ako im fine with the Philippines hosting this year’s Miss Universe. as long as the next MUP is deserving for that back-to-back win. then dedma. they can bash us but at least we all know na deserving tayo manalo. gets?

  7. Maxine is my bet for Binibini International but I wouldn’t mind if she takes the top plum for which I’d like Nicole to get. They’re the two I’m rooting for the top 2 crowns ! Good luck ladies 🙂

  9. Tito Norms, you made my day. 🙂 I read your predictions and I think we exactly have the same TOP 10 (different placements though). I am actually preparing for our finals in law school, but I took some minutes to share my predictions last night, and luckily, I got same numbers like you. You never failed to excite us, your followers, and ever supportive pageant fans. Your blog is a certified stress reliever and prime source of information about Philippines pageantry. You, too, deserve a CROWN for your countless contributions to the field. 🙂

    I pray that the magic 6 (who will soon compete internationally) will continue to prove in the international stage that Filipinos are “BEAUTIFUL” in every little way.

Maxine was not considered as a front runner sa umpisa as I can recall, pero nung nagsisimula na mga activities, she slowly slaying it, at lahat tayo nagulat nang lumabas ang swimsuit photos. though masasabi natin na parang mahinhin siya but palaban siya in her own ways na may ibubuga pala siya. I have no particular favorite to win though. You dont have to be conventionally beautiful and sometimes your imperfections make you attractive and stand out from the rest.

    • actually, yung official photo nila after the numbering, nasabi ko na this girl’s beauty screams miss universe. yun lang, may mas malakas sakanya noon. ngayon, hirap na pumili! lol

  13. Basta nandun si Maxine, Kylie, Dindi at Nicole OK nako. Bahala na sila sa ibang winners kungbgusto nila idagdag si Maria, Apriel, Angelique at Nichole kung bet nila.

  14. Maxine is not only beautiful, but also a woman of substance. I find her statement purposeful, relevant, and inspiring. Without a doubt, Maxine can deliver and is thus worthy of a crown, the Miss Universe Philippines crown. If the stars align for her and she clinches the Miss Universe Philippines crown on the coronation night, I would have high hope that winning streak is still in us. Good luck, Maxine! I believe in you. Mwah!

  17. Ay shet, number 1 ang Pinas sa choices nila para mag host ng MU….. Personally, I don’t want it here this year.. Next year na lang…. Pag sa Pinas ang MU2016, may chance na hindi makapasok sa Top 5 ang manok natin…. BUT if she really played her cards well and ended up landing the Top 3, hanggang first runner up lang siguro tayo lol (which isn’t even bad). And if she does end up winning the competition, lalaitin nanaman tayo ng mga latinos na desperate tayo for another crown.

    • Kaninong idea ba yang i-hold and Miss Universe sa Pinas.. More disadvantages than advantages. Lalo di mangyari ang back to back unless meron may ayaw ng back to back a la bea rose hmmmm..,

    • Me too Joy.. any other year but this year. I think it’s because Pia is the reigning MU and hosting the MU2016 pageant takes away “something” in the Philippine’s quest for B2B titles, win or lose.

      Venezuela has never hosted MU, MW or MI. There you go… 😉

    • Ugh bakit masyadong atat ang ibang tao? We can and we should host MU againg, but at some other point in time. Two reasons stand out on why we shouldn’t do it this year: 1) we are the reigning country, and 2) the crowning of our queen was marred by controversy. ‘Homecourt advantage’ isn’t going to be applicable this year and will hurt us more than it will benefit us. Any success our candidate will have will be taken into question, and any shortcomings of the implicated countries last year will inevitably be blamed on us. Hosting MU2016 is a lose-lose situation for us!

  18. Facially, I don’t think she’s the most stunning. But the way she holds herself, that’s what I admire the most. She’s regal. She’s not my bet for MUP but I know she has a great chance of winning a crown. IF she does get the MUP title, then I will 100% support her journey 🙂

  19. Hmmm something wrong with her face. Hindi mo maituturing Pilipina mukha syang ibang lahi na asian. Masyado lang syang hype.. Hindi naman sya maganda nadala lang sa make up. Sorry but that is my candid opinion.

  24. The selfie with Norman captivates her natural beauty and defines why she is a heavy favorite to win MUP. She definitely exhibits a royal quality.

    In reading her article, for constructive purposes only, she states “..be true to yourself..when you learn to love yourself…?”

    Personally, as correct and true as this advice may be, it’s a turn-off. It’s been overused in all of self-help causes. Self respect needs to be “seen” and not “said.”

    When, NOT if, she makes the top 10 I hope she stays away from these overused clichés. If she nails her Q&A she would be a very worthy MUP. I hope the best for her.

    Maxine, Kimberly P, Dindi, and Nicole C. are four candidates who are not my “pick-six-mix” but would love to see as MUP and BbP winners.

    • I agree. I always prefer spontaneous answers to these kinds of cookie-cutter responses. A bit of fumbling while saying something insightful is still better than spewing a worn-down cliche in perfect English. One’s delivery can always be polished, but insincerity can be smelled from a mile away.

  28. (Please bear with me)

    After watching the primer (have somewhat gauged their communication prowess)
    and looking through the photos, here is my final 8 (with some CCs):

    1. Kylie – Her moves are calculated. Very predictable. Her looks are the same from one photoshoot to another. She ‘tends’ to be boring. She works better in stills than in motion. Nevertheless, she seems to be the most prepared. I want her to surprise us with something new.

    2. Maxine – Sophisticated. Classy. For some reasons, she just lacks some “spark”. You will not immediately notice her when she stands in a group. But if you segregate her, you will appreciate her beauty more. As convincingly pointed out here, she is not your typical MUP template, but I believe that with the unique charm that she has, she will also shine in an international pageant.

    3. Nichole Manalo – Physically, she has vastly improved. I only hope she has improved her communications skills and also trained well for the dreaded Q and A portion.

    4. Angelique – She is too hot to handle. She looks like ANTM’s Jaslene. They need to soften her looks though. She sometimes look older than her actual age.

    5. Dindi – Improve her communication skills. She sounds very probinsyana (which is not a bad thing). But if she wants to be more competitive, she should also sound better.

    6. Nicole Cordoves (Not really my type but she got me with the way she speaks. Based on their recent activities, she slowly proved me that she is also worthy of a crown. I do not think, however, that MUP is for her. If she does not win that title now, I hope she will give up ANY OTHER crown and come back next year for the MUP crown. For me, she is not just ready YET for the most-coveted title.)

    7. Paula – She has consistently peaks at the right time. She will be the dark horse.

    8. Maria Gigante – Despite that horrendous JAG photo, I know that she can also deliver. Let us wait and see 🙂

    I obviously dropped Smith (she will be a better model than a beauty queen) and Huehlar (she needs more experience and training).

    So there. Back to studying. 🙂

    • super agree mars!! After the primer, I was convinced that Dindi is for Supra and not MU. She’s cute, flirty, knows how to slay the runway. She has a winning smile and a great physique. Yung communication skills ang problem. Kaya pang supra na lang which isn’t even bad. After all, that’s her dream title and I have a great feeling she’ll make us proud if ever she wins that crown.

      • Hi Joy! You noticed Dindi’s weakness too? It was also Mutya’s waterloo, but her bubbly and “little ms. Sunshine” attitude prevailed over her communication skills issue. Eventually, she won the Supra crown. Dindi is such a character. She might steal the show 😉

    • Hi there. Just to share with you. We have the same final 8, except Paula and Maria G (both of them are in my lists for ranks 9 and 10). I will replaced them with Apriel smith and Angelica Alita :).

      • Hi Mike! Glad to hear we almost have same choices. Smith and Alita will actually round my top 10 with Penchon from a striking distance. I just found Paula and Maria more ready than Apriel and Angelica. Whoever wins, let us support the top 8. They will surely make us proud. They will make a name again for the Philippines. 🙂

  30. Maxine is still my top bet for MUP. She’s beautiful as it is, but she appears to be the most transformable among the pageant-ready candidates. I saw her part in the primer too, and I like how she lights up when she speaks. That’s how she appears to be in most of the events–like she’s genuinely enjoying herself in her own silent way. I’m glad to see that she has a number of fans in this blog, because her name isn’t being thrown around as much as other candidates in other pageant groups.

    Truthfully I’d be disappointed if she got a crown other than MUP, although there are some candidates who are deserving as well. Maxine just looks too classy for anything else.

  31. I kind of smiled after reading this article. Smiled at the most probable comments from her fans. Statements like “saving ther best for the last” and so forth. But no matter how hard I push myself to give her a crown, the stars contradict. All I know is one thing: she’ll be financially successful in her life but not because she became a beauty queen. It’s what I could read in her face. Good luck, Maxine!

  32. Tita Norms, love the selfie! Ayaw talaga magpatalo sa smiling eyes ni Maxine ng tantalizing eyes mo! 😛

    If she play her cards right on sunday, I won’t be surprised if she takes home the top plum. Regal bearing, class, versatile and not your typical conventional beauty as how I will describe her, I can see that she has a lot to offer with regards to styling, projection and pasarela. And like I said in the other post, she’s the perfect successor of Pia, BPCI started breaking the mould of crowning a typical morena-ish Filipina beauty when they crowned Pia, and Maxine is morena BUT her flawless tanned skin, unconventional face shape and almond shaped eyes is not the typical cookie cutter Filipina, and with Mama J’s magic touch alongside with A&Q’s rigid training, I’m very sure that she can rock the MU stage and slay the Latinas.
