  1. It is indeed a puzzle– 15 days and no post at all. For someone who only has this blog as a source of credible information on pageantry happenings, the news blackout is certainly concerning. Hope it’s not in any way related to the medical procedure he underwent last month.

  2. It has been 10 days since tito Norman’s last posting (May 31). He has never before missed posting more than 4-5 days. Does anyone here have any news re. Tito Norman? Last comment here was he is active in his Fb page (mis tissa), then why would he not be active in his blog? worrying

    • Checked his Fb pageant page… Active but the design is not very Norman Tinio

      • @john, di mo nakita kasama siya sa mga photos sa Mr. Int’l., etc., doon kayo mag comment kasi aminin naman natin na reels sa meta na ang uso at tiktok. doon na po mag comment.

    • Some a—hole told Tito Norms to retire in the comments a few posts back because he (Tito Norman) picked Trisha Martinez for Bb Pilipinas International & Lopez was crowned instead.

      So Tito Norms obliged.

      A—hole – 1
      normannorman dot com – 0

Anyway, Tito Norms is still quite active on Instagram, posting several times a day. Maybe he’s had enough of the Old-Man-Yells-at-Cloud energy in here.

      • I don’t think Tito Norm will be affected by one negative post. I’ve seen worse personal attacks on him in here. If Tito Norm wants to take a break from blogging, I guess it’s fine. But I do miss him and I hope he is in great health. ❤️

  3. Very weak batch.
    Not hating, just stating.
I still wish them well since they’re representing the country.

  4. Active si Tita Norman sa FB nya. Add nyo siya or like nyo ang page nya.

  5. Hello Tito Norman, how are you after the angioplasty? Here’s hoping you are well as we miss your posts and continue to pray for your well-being. Take care of your health…

    • Praying for your full and speedy recovery Norman. Let us know if you need anything,

      Remember, NorMan is an Island.

      World Peace.

  6. I always thought that Angelica Lopez was more fit for Miss Globe but looking at our past Filipino winners of Miss International, NONE actually look the same… IMO, it is a risk to change pegs but if it’s Miss International org itself who’s asking for it then who are we to deny their wants/needs?.. Maybe it’s for rebranding but regardless, our new winner’s look would surely be a hit among Japanese men. Or maybe, regardless of her physical prototype, they found the same charming personality that is common among our past Filipina MI winners?

    • “but regardless, our new winner’s look would surely be a hit among Japanese men.”

      Wtf @c2f. Seriously???

      • @AJ

What part of my statement do you agree or disagree with? LOL
        Anyway, Facts are facts… HAHAHAAAAA🤣🤣🤣

  7. Nawalan na rin yata ng gana si tito Norman hihihi…
One week na tong post na to. Dati dati everyday may ganap. Busy yata?

  8. Years ending in 3 are very lucky for the Philippines – 1973, 1983, 1993, and 2013. Let’s see the the chances of our (so far crowned) national winners this year:
    Huwag po magalit ha…

    1. Nicole Borromeo – very high chance of winning the
    MI crown or a runners up position;
    2. Anna Lakrini – top 5/runners up position in MG;
    3. Yllana Marie Aduana – top 8 to to top 4 but not the
    ME crown;
    4. Gwendolyne Fourniol – top 40 to top 20 in MW; &
    5. Michelle Dee – top 16 to to top 5 at most.

Flor mis ya. Pumasok ka na ba sa monasteryo?

  9. Nandito na naman yung mga narcissist and self-proclaimed beauty experts claiming they have the eyes for beauty only to be proven wrong in the end. After that, they go into hibernation dahil sa kahihiyan lol.
Not because you write excellent sentences with all the proper syntax, ay may proper “eyes for beauty” ka na lol again.
The comments about Angelica reminds of those about Lara Quigaman who was said to be a not MI prototype, hindi kagandahan, maliit etc. but at the end napahiya lahat ng nagsabi nun.

    • You resonate with me sis!!! Not because of them but because of the realistic positivity that you exude. Mabuhay ka!!!

    • @JustPassingBy, 😲🤔 calm down my friend… don’t be too serious. Don’t allow blogposts to add to your wrinkles. This is supposed to be for fun, or an end-of-day relief to the tedium of back-breaking work, or an outlet for shared ideas (like our similar African sojourn). Just continue on writing, even if its just a casual pass-by. Amani my friend . Am sure you know that Swahili word.

  10. @AWL, what else can I say– you explained it well? But before I end this topic with a 3-fold Amen, what we seem to agree on is that there is a clear lack of insight and foresight by the local organizers on the branding direction of their respective franchisors. That paucity results in either deficient or excessive training that we sometimes send reps who are literally “square pegs in round holes”. While the eventual winner in the local contest is of course beyond the control of the organizers, it is important that she is fast-learning and moldable enough to be transformed into a package that fits snuggly into the evolving or current template of her international pageant. A recent case in point is the campus achiever Shamcey who started with a nerdy vibe but marvelously transformed into the MU mold in just a few months of training.

  11. Bb. Pilipinas as we tried to push up was met with a surprising winner. Now the entire beauty pageant enthusiasts are dumbfounded. Not only with BBP but also MUP. Mam Cory Quirino can you please provide some sobriety on our plight? Hahahha and hahahah again. Sad 😥

  12. The picture says Lakrini and her three runners up. Only Lakrini has the global appeal. The other three… Good morning to all. 😄

    • Pierro Rocco – even on their worst days, the “other three” would still look 1000x better than you, because you are ugly AF. Truth!

    • To be honest, I don’t find Lakrini that beautiful. There are angles that her face is not symmetrical.
In this batch, the most beautiful girls for me are Martinez and Salvador.
I find the winners more of a total package and not based only on beauty. It is not easy to find a perfect girl with all the qualities we are looking for.

  13. Let us not sugarcoat. This year’s BbP titleholders are a downgrade of last year’s. But then again, there is what we call transformation. These winners can upgrade their looks before their respective competitions by resorting to aesthetics or correct make up styling.

Angelica Lopez’s authentic Filipina look is Japanese’s weakness. She can easily charm Japanese people with that look. Ana Valencia Lakrini, on the other hand, looks amiable. I am sure these two girls can make it on the first cut in their respective competitions.

How about the runners-up? Well, I am sure that they are happy with their placements. I am also happy that they have reached that far.

    That’s all.

    • @AWL, with due respects, if “this year’s BbP title holders are a downgrade of last year’s”, and considering that that particular batch of winners trailed badly in their respective international contests making 2022 the most forgettable in recent memory of BbP (and other pageants), what does it say now about our beauty standard vs emerging global template? Before prescribing medical aesthetics and styling, don’t you think it is better to reassess first our beauty standard in the light of the shifting global beauty paradigm?

      • @Scorg dear– At one glance, we can assess a girl if she is beautiful or not, or if she is globally on scale or not. Through watching international beauty pageants, we can always compare if our reps can match, be at par, or exceed a current international titleholder’s beauty or not. That’s the standard we always set on our girls, and that is where we put our line.

In choosing a winnable girl in an international beauty pageant, we always look for someone who is a complete package. We certainly know during the entire pageant process if a girl has the packs when interviewed by our local vloggers, reporters and what have you. Admittedly, we are all quite bothered seeing girls’ plain look right at the start of the competition, with the exception of those who have money or sponsor that can afford the services of a glam team or those who are backed by a pageant camp. However, as the competition progresses, we can see the girls’ evolution. Why? Because pageants have trainings on make up and hair styling and even pasarela. As the competition brews up, the girls also level up their playing field. That is the time we see the girls’ glow up and from there, as pageant spectators, we can pick who is fit for this or that pageant. Nonetheless, we don’t have the last say because there are judges on the coronation night, AND the girls who are deemed frontrunners are sometimes the unluckiest ones because there are those who shine the brightest even though they do not fit a mould of a pageant they are going to compete for internationally.

Thus, to answer your question, the standard we always look for in a girl is someone who is a complete package: beautiful with x-factor and substance (that is a catch-all term for someone who has clear advocacy, status in the community, and large following), intelligent/articulate/eloquent, tall,
and has good stage presence with a killer walk. On top of them all, a girl’s determination seals the deal.

Now, the question is: does every girl have such qualities to say they are within the standard we set? Unfortunately, not every year we can spot one. That’s the sad truth. It means no matter how we set a standard in order to be on scale to the shifting global beauty paradigm, we still fail so. Hence, the phrase “hindi araw-araw sa Pilipinas ay Pasko.” We win some; we lose some. Hence, also the birth of beauty pageant predictions, betting, etc.

        That’s all.

      • @AWL, as always your thoughts are lucid– it’s hard to argue back, hahaha! At any rate, I think it is the packaging of our reps to her particular contest assignment that is either deficient or overdosed Last year’s BbP reps, lauded by many as the “prettiest batch ever” trailed in their contests because of what most commenters here opined “over confidence”, “mayabang”, “low SI Quotient (Social Intelligence Quotient)”, etc. The MUP rep hyped by many as “goddess” did not even make the semis cut. Our reps to MI and MW were equally physically ravishing and articulate, and all underwent rigid training regimen. Still, 2023 went down in the history of Philippine pageantry as one of the most forgettable– what happened?

      • @AWL, if I may add, I think this deficient or overdosed packaging is reflective of the handlers’ and organizers’ lack of insight and foresight on the direction of each of the international pageants targeted. No one foresaw the seismic paradigm shift that fell flat into our faces a few months before the MU finals. MS is into active brand-building mode, but has anyone studied comprehensively the branding direction of MS? Or the forays of MI into brand-building? Or the possible strategic pivot of MW brand in the light of the rumoured co-ownership moves by a wealthy British- Nepali conglomerate?

      • *Erratum: “… 2023 went down in the history…” should be “…2022 went down in the history…”

      • @Scorg dear, ours is always an intelligible discussion and I always love exchanging ideas with you. Although sometimes we view differ, still, that is very much healthy and well encouraged. Methinks we have to put our vlog together as new breed of pageant analysts. Char! I know hindi pwede kasi we have our own respective professions we take care of. Kumbaga, past time lang natin ‘to, ‘daba hane?

I agree with you that the country’s sad plight in pageantry last year was largely and mainly attributed to by the “lack of insight and foresight” of the organizers on the direction of each international pageant.

A case study: Celeste Cortesi. Competing at MUPh, this girl was not a complete package from the get-go. In fact, she was not my bet last year but Pauline. Although Celeste had evidently prepared for the competition through the help of The Camp, the same remained not a force for good. Something remained lacking, and that is her communication skills. During the QnA round of the Final 5 last year, Celeste could be ranked at number four next to Annabelle. However, the MUPO chose the winners not by their final answer but based on the total scores from the evening gown, swimsuit, down to QnA, just to justify Celeste’s win. No doubt, Celeste is the prettiest among the MUP titleholders and I thought the MUPO rested on that fact in choosing her. In fact, if the MU pageant would only be based on facial beauty, Celeste could be the runaway winner right off the bat. We followed how the MUPO prepared Celeste for the pageant and we saw a lot of their shortcomings. For one, Celeste had gotten more photoshoots and engagements left and right, to the extent that the team ran out of time preparing her in other cores, such as fitting stunning gowns and national costume and the most essential — communication skills. We would not blame MUPO if they wanted to earn through Celeste via accepting engagements, but heck, the fans were expecting from the org that Celeste was in it to win it, right? Changing of guard in MUO also got Celeste into trouble. The transformational leadership theme hit the MUPO point-blank. It was clear that the MUO was looking for a girl who could walk the talk and with a lot of substance and clear advocacy — all qualities fitting in R’bonney Gabriel. I vividly recall that after seeing and hearing R’bonney on a US TV show, I wrote here that she’d win Miss Universe. Oh, well.

If we talk about standard of a girl to be sent to MU, the template is Catriona Gray. She remains the gold standard even if the theme has changed from Confidently Beautiful to Beautifully Confident to Transformational Leadership. Definitely, it’s Catriona’s GRIT and nothing more. When South Africa crowned Tamaryn Green as its MU rep, the universe was vocal about her. Many thought that South Africa’s back-to-back win at MU was already sealed. But no, Catriona blocked it off. She silently worked hard and focused on her stuff. A perfectionist and creative herself, Catriona made sure that no stone left unturned the moment she boarded on a plane enroute to Thailand. She was a sure win.

Be it in MW, MI, MS and other pageants, nothing can beat a girl or her team’s GRIT as they prepare for the pageant. The girl must be prepared holistically, so she could be a sure win.

        That’s all.

  14. ANG GANDA NI ANGELICA, SHE GOT THE SIZZLING BEAUTY OF MARIA ISABEL LOPEZ AND THE ANGELIC BEAUTY OF PERFIDA LIMPIN ROLLED INTO ONE !!!!
HOPING NO ONE WILL BE BISEXUAL TODAY, GIRL TOMORROW ( AFTER THE PAGEANT) ON THIS SET OF WINNERS.

  15. Regardless how they look the winners are uniquely beautiful, absolutely talented and articulate. I am sure they are all real women and no questions with their sexuality not like the other of queen of another beauty pageant organization. This how I admired the queens of BPCI.

    • Agreed! BbPilipinas – as far as I know, has never in their almost 60 years of creating World Class Beauties tried to Sensationalize Filipinas by sending those …you know what I mean!

I know some of these losers/mahaderas here will say, time has changed, it’s 2023 and we have to move on and adopt to changes, I’m antiquated blah blah!.Truth is, there’s hardly any Countries sending their half-baked, tainted ladies to MU, or just quietly doing their thing if ever…maybe a very few exception but that doesn’t speak for the majority/Norm.

  16. If I may say to your LOL commenter – “runner ups” should be “runners-up” and “siopaw” should be “siopao”. I’m done.

  17. For me parang mas magaling magsalita yung dalawang runner up. Pero the winners can speak so well naman. I was surprised with Angelica, mas maganda sya dyan compared sa coronation.
Good luck and congratulations to all.

  18. If I may quote another commenter:

Kulang sa ganda. Lalo na yung dalawang runner ups. Lol. Para silang twin siopaw. Oh well, our 2023 batch of beauties are really lacking in beauty and presence. Be it ME, MUP and MI.

Good luck na lang sa ating lahat. Lol.

    World Peace.
