Last night’s Preliminaries of Miss Universe Philippines 2022 may have either sealed the winning fate of some or led to a bit of a shuffle at the top. Regardless, the 32 Finalists performed at their best. The announcement of recipients for nineteen (19) sponsors’ special awards gave us clues as to who have gained favors among the corporate supporters of the national pageant, as follows:
1) Michelle Marquez Dee of Makati garnered a lion’s share of the same by being named #MissKumuniverse, Face of Belo Essentials, Miss Savepoint Plus, Miss BRAGAIS SHOES, Miss Cream Silk and Miss Medical City.
2) Pauline Amelinckx of Bohol was named Frontrow Choice Queen and Miss MG Cars (MG Morris Garages Philippines),
3) Ma Katrina Llegado got Miss Philippine Airlines and Miss CAD (Center for Advanced Dentistry)
4) Celeste Cortesi pocketed the Miss Avana and Miss Aqua Boracay
5) Chantal Elise Schmidt as Miss Cavaso
6) Ivylou Borbon of Pangasinan as Miss Luxxe Slim Fitness Queen
7) Angelica Lopez of Palawan as Luxxe Immunplus Queen Majestic
8. Gillian Katherine De Mesa as Miss Smilee Apparel
9) Lou Dominique Piczon as Miss Okada Manila
10) Isabel Luche as Miss Jewelmer
11) Dani Camcam as Miss Coins.ph
Personally, my best performers for both Swimsuit and Evening Gown segments are not far from the list of names who won Special Awards last night. The power trio of Michelle Dee, Celeste Cortesi and Katrina Llegado plus Pauline Amelinckx of Bohol delivered as expected. Additionally, I would say that Angelica Lopez of Palawan, Ivylou Borbon of Pangasinan, Lou Dominique Piczon, Ghenesis Latugat of Baguio City, Annabelle McDonnell of Misamis Oriental, Vanessa Caro of Iloilo Province and Chantal Schmidt of Cebu City made their supporters proud in both scored areas of competition.
Let’s see who will eventually win Miss Universe Philippines 2022 on Saturday, and be named as Miss PLDT Home as well.
The Road to the Final Predictions is now shaping up nicely.

normannorman.com’s Halfway-through Favorites for Miss Universe Philippines 2022
Half a month from now, or April 30 to be exact, Miss Universe Philippines 2022 will be crowned at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in what could be the biggest live finals of any national pageant ever since its first edition last 2020.
After last week’s Press Presentation at Hilton Manila, lock-in at Holiday Inn Express Manila, sponsor photoshoots and daily goings-on, allow me to share my running tally of favorites for the title. A lot can still happen starting next week once they go through the Swimsuit and National Costume Competitions, Charity Gala and Preliminaries. So this list of twelve is likely to give way to a couple of changes here and there. But for now, my dozen picks are:
1. Michelle Marquez Dee | Makati
2. Celeste Cortesi | Pasay
3. Ma Katrina Llegado | Taguig
4. Pauline Amelinckx | Bohol
5. Lou Dominique Piczon | Cebu Prov
6. Chantal Elise Schmidt | Cebu City
7. Annabelle McDonnell | Misamis Oriental
8. Angelica Lopez | Palawan
9. Julia Saubier | Albay
10. Vanessa Caro | Iloilo Province
11. Ghenesis Latugat | Baguio City
12. Ivylou Borbon | Pangasinan
Let’s see if the coming week will maintain or alter the rankings above. The excitement in me is building up nicely. And I can’t wait to see who will really lock in their spots during the homestretch.
During the Catch-Up Press Conference with Miss Universe Philippines 2021 Beatrice Luigi Gomez earlier, thirty three (33) of the forty nine Official Delegates of #MissUniversePhilippines2022 were introduced to members of the pageant media.
Note: This is not the Press Presentation. Only the ladies who are currently in Manila were invited to join.
In the meantime, here are the winners of the #MUPH2022FashionAndRunwayChallenge with BRAGAIS SHOES and #ARTEPartyList!
This is Part 2 of the blog entry where I started sharing the videos of the Miss Universe Philippines 2022 Official Delegates answering the question: “What makes a woman uniquely beautiful?”
After the reveal of the Top 50 Official Delegates for Miss Universe Philippines 2022, the excitement has started to build up even more. There will always be favorites as early as now. So let me share mine. The actual pre-pageant challenges have not started yet. So this list of twenty (20) can easily change after each hurdle. But for now, I will keep an eye on:

Pauline Amelinckx of Bohol
Katrina Llegado of Taguig City
Lou Dominique Piczon of Cebu Province
Vanessa Caro of Iloilo Province

Another KC, but with her name spelled differently, bagged the crown of Miss Manila 2015 during the finals at the PICC Plenary Hall last night. Kaycie Lyn Fajardo – who is a student of Customs Administration – is the new ambassadress of the City of Manila as she will now take over the reins of last year’s KC Halili. She fought for the title till the end, with the strong competition given by her 1st Runner-Up, deaf candidate Christine Balaguer who proved to be a worthy opponent from start to finish. Other members of the court include 2nd Runner-Up Angelica Lopez, 3rd Runner-Up Franchesca Diaz Floirendo and 4th Runner-Up Jillian Urbina.
The twenty-six (26) Official Candidates of Miss Manila 2015
Miss Manila 2015 will be crowned on Araw ng Maynila itself, June 24
Tomorrow, Wednesday, June 24, it will be a non-working holiday in the City of Manila in celebration of Araw ng Maynila. And at the PICC Plenary Hall, one of the twenty-six (26) contestants of Miss Manila 2015 will be crowned by reigning winner KC Halili in glittering rites to be hosted by Edu Manzano (with guest entertainers Sarah Geronimo, Mark Bautista, Jay-R, Rico Blanco and Ronnie Liang). And in random order now, my Top 10 selections are as follows:
My Top 10 Picks for Miss Manila 2015, in random order.
In order of preference now, above are my Top 5 ladies

The ladies I would like to see zoom to Top 10 are: Regina Malana, Anna Karmina Conanan, Franchesca Diaz, Vientree Santiago, Christine Balaguer, Crissia del Atienza, Angelica Lopez, Patrixia Sherly Santos, Kaycie Lyn Fajardo and Teresa Clarise Perez.
And as far as the Top 5 finalists are concerned, I would be happy seeing a quintet made up of Anna Karmina Conanan, Regina Malana, Patrixia Sherly Santos, Franchesca Diaz and Christine Balaguer. One of them would make an excellent successor to Miss Manila 2014 KC Halili who has completed such a mission and charity-filled reign that would be relatively hard to follow.
Good luck in the finals, ladies. May the best Manileña win! 😉
Pageant tidbit: Did you know that the full name of the candidate tagged as the ‘granddaughter’ of Gloria Diaz is Franchesca Diaz Floirendo? Talk about having the surname and married surname of our two former Miss Universe titleholders in her name. The Floirendo part was temporarily dropped for competition purposes. 🙂

Miss Manila 2015 will be crowned on Araw ng Maynila itself
Last Wednesday, the twenty-seven (27) Official Candidates of Miss Manila 2015 were presented to the Press at the Diamond Hotel. An assortment of familiar names and faces – on top of new pageant joiners – paraded in front of the media representatives in attendance. One of them will be adjudged the successor of the reigning titleholder KC Halili on June 24 at the PICC Plenary Hall.
Here now are my eight (8) favorites. Hopefully, one of them will eventually take home the crown.
My eight early favorites for the crown (Photo credit: OPMB Worldwide)
My lead quartet is made up of Jillian Urbina (remember her during Bb. Pilipinas 2012?), Anna Conanan (she screened for Bb. Pilipinas 2015), Erika Diaz (tagged as the granddaughter of MU1969 Gloria Diaz) and Patrixia Sherly Santos (she has made the rounds of our favorite pageants). Following the four are deaf contender Christine Balaguer, tall Regina Maala, even taller Angelica Lopez and former Miss Sophie Crissia del Atienza.
Let’s see if these ladies will step up to the plate and bring my early forecast to a steady end result. 🙂
In the meantime, here’s a shot of Miss Manila 2014 KC Halili as taken by Edmund Chua for Fabmanilaph.

Who will be KC Halili’s successor?
Twenty-eight (28) beautiful Manilenas have been presented by Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada to the Press. One of these ladies will become the successor of Miss Manila 2014 KC Halili who will be completing a reign filled with worthy advocacies and completed missions for the city.
Among this year’s hopefuls are deaf charmer Christine Balaguer, tall (and the reigning Miss Arellano University) Angelica Lopez, the ‘granddaughter’ of Gloria Diaz – Erika Diaz, with pretty misses Anna Conanan and Crissia del Atienza.
Miss Manila 2015 will be crowned in glittering ceremonies at the PICC Plenary Hall on Araw ng Maynila itself, June 24. Watch out for another feature on all the ladies vying for the crown. 😉
