Honestly, dear readers, did you expect the catfight to unravel like the rivalry between Binibinis 11 and 20 in the days leading to the Grand Coronation Night of Bb. Pilipinas 2018 this coming Sunday night? There has never been a match so heated as to incite such overwhelming acceptance, resistance or confusion. On one corner is the top favorite right from the start. On the other end, the fiercest opponent has peaked in the eyes of many. Does her pageant pedigree alone measure up to the “Versus” marquee?

In a Catriona-less edition, Ma. Andrea “Aya” Abesamis can swimmingly reach for the Miss Universe Philippines crown. But that isn’t meant to happen because this could be her first and only try in the nationals. And while those who are not on her side continue to throw potshots at her direction, she is simply taking things with queenly poise and a naturally friendly self to take all the punches standing up and not hitting the floor.

We could be in for a lot of suspense-filled moments (and possibly a surprise or two) on March 18. Ready or not, we will come. The stage is set for Bb. Pilipinas 2018!

  5. I don’t get the hate towards this girl. I like her. I sincerly do. I think she’s a standout. But just like most of the people here in this blog, she’s not my choice for the Miss Universe Philippines crown.

    • Save the best for last? True, she was styled as Maxine 2.0. Maxine is beautiful….love her oval face, her laughing eyes when she smiles, her cute nose. Aya at best is attractive. With the right make-up she can be pretty. But beautiful she is not!!!

  11. Kapag nanalo dahil sa koneksyon at pandaraya ang mukhang kulangot na to, lalangawin ang Miss U pageant night, kasi, walang gaganahang manuod sa “rep” nating mukhang kulangot, pag nagkataon.

    Balik na naman sa dark ages of pageantry ang Pinas, dahil siguradong olats ang hilatsa ng pagmumukha nito.

      • I know George comments is below the belt but it is his opinion. But mentioning his mom in your rebuttal is even worst. After all she is a private person and not a beauty contestant. Whether she looks good or bad is irrelevant. Speaking of Aya I personally don’t mind if she gets a crown as long as it’s not MUP. It will surely break the streak Venus started in 2010 if it happens.

      Perhaps it’s insecurity. Some people can have very rabid defense mechanisms when they don’t feel secure.

      • I want Cat for MU, too. The passion and grit of the girl alone, she deserves it more than anyone in the lineup. And the girl delivers! She keeps on surprising us with even better performances.

        But still, the battle is not over until we hear the final proclamation of winners on coronation night. Let’s be fair to the other girls. Not just Aya. TBH, this is a pretty strong batch. One of the strongest I think since Venus’ time. Last I saw a strong batch was during Shamcey’s pa yata.

  17. I just woke up with a smile on my face looking forward to the end of the week. And… and…and… this was the first thing I saw when I opened this site.

    I guess we will never know the personal agenda or motivation of some people : Affiliation? Money? Greed? Plain stupidity? Free Dinner perhaps? Love to the mother? Or love to the father? We will never know. =)

    The girl per se is nice looking. Nice-looking in a girl-next-door nice looking sense. I am sure she is not a bad person and she has her qualities. But what really insults the intelligence of most readers is the gall, the temerity, the chutzpah, the nerve, and the ostentatious display of insensitivity and stupidity to be consider her as one of the “three corners”. And now, immediately featuring her just minutes after featuring the truly deserving.

    While the likes of Michelle and others were allowed to be discussed for days and soak and enjoy the analysis of the readers, the truly deserving one was insulted and thought of as being not worthy to be even talked about even for half a day.

    It is Lent folks. Days of sacrifice. Understanding and Forgiveness. But there is an Easter. And it will be this Sunday.

      • Remember what Gloria Diaz said….that winning or getting a high placement has something to do with luck. Luck aside, the quality of the competition and the preferences of the preliminary/final judges are important, too. Desiree must have lucked out. I’ve seen her in person years ago and I was not impressed with her looks. Kinda ethnic looking in my opinion. However, she is better looking than Aya if you asked me.

  40. She is beautiful for me in a different way. There is something in her that tells me that you need to dig deeper and mandate a second look. That’s the moment that you’ll see the gem in me. She knows how to take advantage of her physical assets (wide shoulder) and when/how to hide her imperfections. Definitely, a crown for this gal but not MU.

    As much as I love my #Ayamazing, I think the MUP will be contested between Catriona and Michele. #Ayamazing needs to be PERFECT on March 18th to even have a chance at MUP. She needs to battle her nerves and deliver in Q&A. Right now, Michele has the momentum on her side but Catriona has consistency on her side.

    So which side will the MUP crown be cum March 18th? For now, I would say it’s still Catriona’s crown to lose but if Michele delivers a flawless performance and with a little bit of luck, we might be in for the most exciting and unpredictable BbP coronation night ever.
