  1. Pansin ko lang palaging nasa news si Ara, unlike sa ibang contestants. Yan ang gusto ni Trump, ingay sa kanyang palabas. Katulad din ni Megan, palaging nasa news, actually halos araw araw may article ang IB Times UK and AU, of course Rappler and ABS. Sana tuloy tuloy at mahaba a prelims interview sana i practice niya conversation skills para sa one on one interview it will flow naturally. I do hope the Latinas see our bet as a friendly competitor.

    • If you are referring to the ETA of Ariella’s flight, that would be the Moscow time zone of UTC/GMT +4. There is a 4-hour difference between Manila and Moscow.

  2. look closely at what ara is wearing on the pic! I think she is wearing the same jacket Janine is wearing here

  3. OMG!! Ako ang kinakabahan kay ara pag dating ng moscow inspite all of these on how she will handle all this negative stuffs around her bka maka apekto sa kanya….i think her ETA is around 5pm…..

      • Di ko na makita ung post sa “the universal beauty” pero ung sa “miss universo 2013” nandun pa….jan mo isearch makikita mo un….

    • Nothing’s wrong with her answer. It was just taken in the wrong context. Sometimes we don’t mean what we say. I’m sure Ara did not mean anything by using the latin countries as an example. Factor to this could be her ability to speak or express herself in English. She probably was not able to find a better word for it.

  4. Nsa pages na ng latin fb page universal pageant ung tungkol kay ara pati ung video…..at kumalat na nga…cyempre iba ang magiging interpretation ng mga latins kay ara….as in turn off ito para sa kanya….kung tutuusin bet pa nman cyang ibang latins….some are saying arrgante ang sagot nya…some are saying humanda cya sa mga latina beauties….patay na!!!sayang sumablay pa sa huling hirit…….malamang nakakadagdag stress pa ito kay ara….i think much better na magpa press release ang bpci para maipag tanggol cya just like what cory quirino did for megan….

  5. Get ready Russia!! In just a few hours a supertyphoon from the Philippines named ARA will take landfall. She’s taking Moscow by storm. Go Ara!! #AraMU2013 #forthePhilippines

  6. Tagalog para hindi mainitindihan ng iba.
Sana may magandang PR tungkol dito para damage control. Sana sabihin ni Ara na kulang ang sagot niya na hindi importante ang wikang ingles sa pagiging miss universe.
Kagaya ng sagot no Janine nung isang taon.

  7. bad publicity is still a publicity.. mgandang pagkakataon to para makuha yung atensyon ng lahat ng tao sa pageant.. from there mamatyagan na ugali ni ara, at eventually mrerealize nila na mabait pala si ara..

    • at dahil may issue, kukuyugin ng media si ara get her side..at mas ok yun dahil mkkpag explain siya..

  8. Norman, your blog is one hell of an entertainment of some sort. The comment section is like a side dish that doesn’t spoil even without refrigeration, and that keeps replenishing itself automatically. Totally amusing, even the kontrabidas!!! Love love you Norman for all these…eagerly waiting for your next blog. My net is on alert mode at this very moment. Thanks a lot.

Now I’m worried for our rep :\

  10. I’ve a feeling that there’s gonna be more fallout from that interview. How unfortunate for Ara that she hasn’t yet landed in Moscow and she’s already made enemies. To think that she’ll be standing just a candidate away from Miss Puerto Rico in the rehearsals! It was a slip of the tongue but it’s now all over the pageant forums and blown out of proportion. This sort of thing is the last thing she needs right now. I hope she makes a swift recovery. šŸ˜¦

    • @ima: Ara’s interview was very misunderstood. What she tried to say was that English was not a big factor in winning Miss Universe, and she cited the Latinas as an example. She was actually complementing Latina candidates because they always do very well in Miss Universe despite the fact that many of them are non-English speakers.

Her comment about Miss Puerto Rico was also complimentary, citing her and Miss France as two of the most competitive candidates this year when the interviewer asked her which candidates she thought were front runners. The “runner-up” remark was made in jest, obviously!

I hope this settles this once and for all.

      • There are few of us who understood exactly what she meant – it was a completely harmless statement from Ara. But obviously these moronic bashers have almost no English comprehension skills. Worse, they go on about it as if they’re more offended than the Latinas (who have no reason to be offended in the first place). Classic Filipino crab mentality never fails to amuse.

    • The thing with the online articles that I’ve seen so far is, THEY DON’T POST ARA’S COMPLETE STATEMENT, obviously trying to be malicious about what she said and putting her in a bad light. I mean hello? Responsible journalism please

      • Let’s all make an effort on Ara’s behalf and respond to these negative articles and clarify the matter as politely and diplomatically as possible as I’ve done above so Ara can focus on what she needs to do in Moscow. šŸ™‚

  11. Waiting for PAANDAR! Go Ara! We are already proud of you! Rock the Universe! šŸ’ššŸ’ššŸ’ššŸ‘‘šŸ‘‘šŸ‘‘

  12. Thanks for the regular updates on Ara, Norman ! Your blog is the best ! Can’t wait to read the next update ! Godspeed Ara ! Stay healthy, happy, friendly, sexy & beautiful šŸ™‚

  13. Isn’t ironic that you, of all people, would bring up the subject of sensitivity? Isn’t it ironic that you would jump at yet another chance to degrade or humiliate her? Yet when a truth is spoken, you’ll join the fray of the simple minded to take something out of content, distort, and brew up a frenzy just because you have never supported her choice to be our representative. Let me guess… you wanted Pia or Mutya or Charmaine or (fill in the blank) to be BPU, right? Well… I’m sorry that didn’t happen for you, but it’s over, move on. You don’t have to be an Ara fan but you don’t have to be bitter about her either. Wait until next year, maybe your favorite will win the BPU crown. Then you can jump on the other side of the fence and defend her from people like yourself.

    • Taray ni Tito Philip Bobby Advincula de la Torre Senior! šŸ™‚ O ayan San Longganisa depensa na in english ha!

Round 1 goes to Tito Philip Bobby Advincula de la Torre Senior :))

  14. AHA apologizing about the side comment she made during Headstart interview is indeed a good gesture of diplomacy. But there’s no need actually because it is the truth anyway. Obviously, she was only referring to the Latinas that join beauty pageants and not Latinas in general.

In contrast, some forum sites in Europe, particularly in Spain, admire AHA’s candidness. She did not hesitate to give out the names of those countries that can possibly enter Top 5. Usually, hopefuls would not dare names of possible threats but AHA has nothing to fear. She’s a hundred percent ready to execute her winning strategy.

I am sure that Miss Spain is doubly eager to meet her in person and see for herself if she stands a chance for the crown. šŸ˜‰

  15. Getting so much excited for this Fabulous Norman. I keep on checking your site once in a while for new updates haha! Just can’t wait to see pictures of Ara stepping in Moscow. Seems like, all the contestants are also excited to see Ara arrive in Moscow! They are waiting for the new queen, once she stepped on Russian land, Miss Universe 2013 is over! šŸ™‚

  16. Nice try but you better extend your defense to the rest of the people who does not perceive the way you do! Again stop acting like you are her defense lawyer, like you’re the only one wh’s correct because you think that way. can you do something about the latest post of that non-filipino online article? don ka mag explain sa kanila. we have one goal here, i understand what she was trying to say but for the nth time, others wont understand her statement the way you understand her.

  17. The hot topic that could be possibly be a question during the final night is about Gender equality. Russia recently enacted an anti-gay law. A judge may ask Ara: “The Philippines is predominantly a catholic country, what is your position about same sex marriage?”

  18. bakit wla pang formal announcement ang MUO sa pagiging web prresenter ni janine mr norman?

      • I can’t believe the press will do something like that. It’s so out of context! Anyways now Ariella has to be more careful as it seems that everyone’s ready to destroy her just like what they tried to do with Megan.

    • i knew that statement was going to be perceived in a bad light. it has never been safe to make hasty generalizations on anything. some Latinas can actually speak good English now. some Puerto Ricans. some Venezuelans. etc. sana pagdating ni Ara sa Moscow hinde nakataas ang mga kilay ng mga Latinas. and it’s good she has been sorry. i hope the girls would have wider understanding. #worried

      • bigyan nya agad ng pearl earrings lol, wag lang sana lumaki, so far isang article pa lang naman online wag lang dumami, lets hope that after her last tweet, it will put an end for a possible conflict if not then she has a lot of explanation to do, ang daming latina , i hope it will not affect her confidence.

      • I guess if you are an analytical listener/viewer of the interview you would see & hear ARA telling the whole world that “Hey, many Latinas could not even complete a sentence in English…but what the heck, they are able to sincerely express their thoughts and feelings well.” (just my take)

    • I’ve been trying to defend Ariella in some Latino FB pages, but to no avail. They are really taking what she said out of context and blowing it way out of proportion. That tiny runt Mo Twister is also making nasty remarks about this as well.

  19. Truly, there is a wisdom in sending the candidate very early in the competition venue, specially if it is the likes of Moscow — far, cold, culturally different. Look at those ladies in the pictures – they have the luxury of time enjoying the outdoors (thus having an honest feel of Moscow and gaining added insights on how it looks, hence, they will be able to sincerely opine in the interviews how is Moscow for them); they have the spare time to experiment on their hair and looks and styling with the help of their designated hairdressers; they are able to establish bonding and form a group with other girls without the feeling of being a “saling-pusa” for being a late addition; They are able to settle well their things in order, balance their equilibrium, adjust to the weather, etc… And come to think of it, even those countries just proximate to Russia (the like of Poland, Finland, Hungary, Ukraine, Lithuania and Romania) have preferred to come early. Kapos lang ba talaga ang BBPI sa budget to get ARA a night or two accommodation in Moscow? I believe, though, that ARA will be very creative in making adjustments to her environment… What is she a CHAMELEON for, right?

  20. Wow! The anticipation is killing me! I kinda wish Philippines arrived earlier (so she can takes pictures with the other candidates :)), but I think there is some sort of strategy behind this. The fact that she is one of the highly awaited candidates in the pageant, will definitely draw everyoneā€™s attention. I bet once she arrives at Crowne Plaza, the other candidates will be like “She’s here. It’s Miss Philippines”. Si Ariella naman “It’s showtime!”

    • Added Scenario:
      1. “There she is, Ms. Philippines…good that she makes it on time…many Filipinos could barely make it…she must be well-educated!”
      2. “Is she the Ms. Philippines whose photos we greatly admired on the Net? How come she looks that way: Haggard, tired, disoriented, stressed?”
      3. “Hey Miss Philippines, good that finally you are here: your neighbors – Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Myanmar and Thailand – thought that you got lost in HongKong airport thus missing on your connecting flight. Good that your PR made it appear that you are spending a night in Hongkong rather than making it directly here and just have your rest here. Goshhh, you must be very tired that you have to rest in Hongkong!…and indeed, you look exhausted!”
      4. …is open to other scenarios…

  21. kua norman..panu nyo po nasabi na na-intrigued si miss usa sa mga tweers kay arida? any specific tweets coming from her?tnx
