Tomorrow, the 7th Mister Global will be proclaimed during the Finals in Maha Sirakham, Thailand. And among the thirty-three (33) Official Candidates, I have short-listed fifteen (15) men who are likely to make the first cut:
Top 15 for the 7th Mister Global
Spain Miguel Ángel Lucas
Cuba Yaniel Ogando
Brazil Bruno Silva
Philippines Mico Teng
Thailand Thiraphat Sittichai
Mexico Gabriel Ortiz
Venezuela Juan Carlos da Silva
Dominican Republic Ariel Morales
Ecuador Fabricio Caicedo
Vietnam Danh Linh
Hong Kong Anthony Lo
Czech Republic Jiri Hemelka
Korea Dongwoo Shin
Peru Daniel Jares
United States Dustin James Davids
My Top 3 are Spain, Cuba and Brazil. At this point, I can see one of them winning the title. There are potential spoilers, though, who could enter the top tier and muddle the final tally. They are Mico Teng of the Philippines, Thailand’s Thiraphat Sittichai and Gabriel Ortiz of Mexico. All of them could live up to the Inspiring Gentleman hashtag of the male pageant.
Bottomline is this: a fierce tug-o-war is likely to happen between the Spaniard and the Cuban.
Good luck to everyone!
I’ve seen the high-resolution videos posted by Poppory Fashion Blog of the preliminary swimsuit and formal wear competitions. Over all, the suave Mr. Spain performed the best on screen (very engaging, good energy and that smolder he did at the end of the ramp make him even more attractive). Also, past winners of Mr. Global (unlike Supranational) never sported full facial hair at the time of their winning so I guess the organization prefers clean cut brand endorsers. Mr. Cuba, physically gorgeous as he is, surprisingly looked unsure (looking down as he walked the ramp) and registered low energy (bored) at the preliminaries. In my view, he was outperformed not only by Spain but by the caramel-skinned Ecuadorian representative who looked the best in formal wear. Mr. Mexico was also very engaging on stage and playful with the audience (great personality). I’m not crazy about Brazil this time (compared to say, Pedro Gicca) – he looked unkept and stocky. Mico was great in swimwear as he appeared relaxed and playful as well. However, he was definitely outperformed by Vietnam in formal wear. It was surprising to me that Venezuela sent a very boyish representative rather than the usual burly ones (definitely cute though with a great smile).
