Okay, dear readers, the video above is an OMG moment for your blogger because the beneficiary of Megan’s relief efforts is my hometown itself, Hagonoy in Bulacan. I come from a part of the province where flooding is practically a way of life especially when the floodgates of the Angat Dam are opened everytime spillover occurs (during storms, typhoons, heavy rains and the like) and our town becomes one of the major catch basins for the water. Being a low coastal area, the rise of near-lifesize water cannot be helped 100%.
Some jaded viewers might say that the video tends to come off lightweight compared to others. But the genuine sincerity of our rep is priceless. She went through everything with the best of intentions and did not even act like she should be above the murky flood waters just to hand out help to my fellow townmates.
Also, we need to really look at the big picture. Flooding is a national problem in our country. So to be able to share blessings in whatever way we can – and to even a small portion of the severely affected areas – is already a purpose with enough might to equal the positive action being spearheaded by counterparts in other nations. 😉

P.S. It’s so apt that they used the song “Rainy Days and Mondays” in the soundtrack. Megan was crowned on a wet and super rainy Sunday night (August 18) that raged all the way to Monday when the destructive floods finally befell many parts of Luzon.

Heard of Mr. World’s latest update?! “If Philippines win, they will say MW made a good choice. If not, they will say it’s a cooking show!” Duh, his way of hugas kamay for his kabaklaan of squeaking/spilling the supposedly BWAP news ahead than the organizers! People, it’s time to get back at him! That’s just mean (though a bit true). But on a second thought, let’s be very careful. As I have said, all eyes are on our Megan now. More like they are finding faults on her. But we have nothing to worry though, she’s genuine! What they see is what they get. Megan for the win!
I liked her BWP, because she was sincere and not sugar coated like other contestants. You can feel it from her voice and there was one segment of the video where she almost cried. You don’t have to have a grand video to please your viewers, because it’s the content and your delivery is what count’s the most. You can even see that she’s knee deep in water. The fact that Ms Cory Quirino is also in the video added a little more effect. This just showed the sincerity even the Chairman of MWP. This is also why she made it to top 11 of BWP after all the judges saw something unique and a candidate who is true to her charitable cause. This is just one facets of her many charitable works, and I’m sure MWO was provided with all her other works. Kudos to you Megan. Also, Kudos to Sir Norman for a wonderful write-up. The way Sir Norman presented this topic was very heart warming. I felt his sincerity and being from that part of the country even made it very true to life experience.
Agree with almost everyone here and really pray and look forward come Megan’s coronation as new Miss World 2013! Two quick questions though:
[1] will a local network cover the event? If so, which channel will it be?
[2] Is it true that Megan has been among the chosen solo performers in Dances of the World segment come pageant night [according to ABS.CBN]?
GMA will cover it, and yes megan will showcase singkil. 🙂
Most of the time pag natatalo ang philippines sa mga international pageant, sinasabi ng madami at xempre ako na in our hearts Philippines parin ang panalo pero may halong echos.. But now, for megan, manalo man o matalo I can say with conviction na xa parin ang miss world 2013 sa puso ko na walang halong ka echosan. 🙂

Well done megan, coming from your heart is the best beauty with a purpose ,my family is also from bulacan I grew up with this kind of problem in my town although iam not living their anymore the nostalgic experience still with me , my family updated me time to time everytime their is a flood.
I wish they could’ve edited the video better tho. Megan’s heartfelt sincerity is beaming 🙂 I think that will be the selling point of her BWAP vid.
I have been following Megan Young’s career for years… I saw how active she is in doing charitable works.. Not like other local celebrities who only does it for publicity, Megan Young has always been really passionate in helping others in need. You would never see other female celebrities in her league go through flood waters with the risk of contracting leptospyrosis just to help her fellowmen. Our beloved Megan Young did a lot of all those unimaginable things and she did it selflessly with real gusto! I swear, I never heard her brag about her charitable works to anyone; not even to her close celebrity friends. Aside from being appointed by the President as peace ambassador, the local media rarely caught her in any of these activities prior to joining MWP which just proves that she has a genuine heart.
Just give her the blue crown and get this over with!
