Philippine National Costumes in Miss Universe

One of my favorites was worn by Zora Andam during MU2001.
While the National Costume Competition in Miss Universe does not win any major spot in the final honor roll, it strikes a nerve of unwavering nationalism in all of us. Aside from displaying an essential peg to our culture, the traditional outfit shows the color and personality of the Philippines’ 7,107 islands.
Now, since our National Costumes for the past decade (save for the Pitoy Moreno creation worn by Janine Tugonon last year) have been conceived, cut and sewn in Colombia, why don’t we try pitching in our creative suggestions for what Miss Universe Philippines 2013 Ara Arida will wear in this year’s edition? I know it could be a long shot, but you can never tell who will read this blog and share the ideas to those who have direct (or indirect) links to whoever will make the final design.
You have the option to share your ideas in the form of a reply. Otherwise, you can email (norman.blogsite@gmail.com) me a design (be it original or inspired) or photo inspiration which I will progressively upload in this post. 🙂
Let me start the ball rolling by sharing mine.

I’ll be waiting for yours! 😉
