Miss World 2007 Zhang Zilin on the cover of Elle
Miss World 2007 Zhang Zilin – China’s first winner of the blue crown – remains as beautiful, if not more beautiful than the day she won in Sanya. And on the cover of Elle Magazine, her captivatingly quiet beauty is made more prominent by the refreshingly subtle poses that doesn’t seem to show any signs of seven-year aging (of course, I am suspending disbelief owing to the wonders of Photoshop).
But still, I find her far more appealing than compatriot Wenxia Yu who was named Miss World five years after her victory.
How about you, dear readers? 🙂
Miss World China 2012 Wen Xia Yu
Does she have what it takes to win Miss World?
China is not about to field an ordinary candidate to Miss World 2012 just because Ordos is hosting the finals on August 18. After all, having a 2nd Miss World after Zhang Zilin in 2007 is enough motivation to pull out all stops and insure that the host delegate figures out well on coronation night.
Miss World China 2012 comes in the person of Wen Xia Yu, a talented beauty who is a part-time model and a student from Harbin. She stands 177 cm. (around 5’10”) and is more than ready to stamp her class among the expected delegates in this year’s edition of the pageant.
What do you think of her, dear readers? Is she your type of Asian beauty? And could she be a shoo-in for one of the top spots despite being the representative of China? Methinks our own Queenie Rehman is still better, all things being equal that is. 😉
One lady will have her life changed tonight.
Miss World Philippines 2011 will be crowned during formal pageant ceremonies at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) and will earn the right to represent the country in Miss World 2011 to be held in London, UK on November 6. Since we’re more than halfway through September, the winner will be immediately whisked to more trainings, makeovers and fittings because she will definitely be flying to the contest site next month.
Among the 25 contenders, I have fearlessly trimmed down the list to what I term my “Pick 7 Ladies” – the ones who I feel are best fits for the mold of a Miss World candidate. They are, in this particular order of personal preference:
#13 Gwendoline Ruais
#24 Helen Nicolette Henson
#9 Martha Chloe McCully
#17 Erin Dolores Lane
#25 Erina Ann Lightholder
#1 Samantha Nerville Purvor
#12 Elaine Kay Moll
Obviously, my pick to win is Gwendoline Ruais. I simply love this statuesque Fil-French stunner. Gut feel tells me that she will rock the Miss World stage if ever. But close on her heels is Helen Nicolette Henson who will definitely give the former stiff competition. If not for a middling height, she could easily be a shoo-in for the top spot. Let’s see if one of these two ladies will nail the title tonight!
Reigning Miss World Alexandria Mills will crown the winner. The Board of Judges will include boxer Manny Pacquiao, actress Iza Calzado, Dr. Vicki Belo and Fashion Designer/Make-up Specialist Fanny Serrano.
Who’s your pick to win? 😉
Miss World Philippines 2011 will air over GMA-7 tonight at 10pm after Protege’
