This is the time to be merry. Ceasefire on negativity, intrigues bashings and all things unpleasant.
All our Queens (and Kings) – major or minor in title – have done their best to bring pride to our country. Let us continue to celebrate them instead of looking at where to nitpick or say something to pull down their hard work and dedication.
Merry Christmas to one and all!

During the Homecoming Victory Lunch at Vikings Makati for newly-crowned Miss Tourism Worldwide 2018 Zara Carbonell, she was filled with happiness and gratitude for achieving an international victory that would serve as the peak of her colorful pageant career. She invited selected members of the Press to share in her celebration. And along with parents Cris and Zharine plus the entire clan, she hosted a fun-filled get-together where everyone took part in the activities while recalling both the pressure-laden and exciting parts of her successful stint in Singapore and Indonesia for the competition.

Fully aware that there are so many “Tourism”-themed international pageants around the world, Zara plans to make her reign significant by spreading more awareness about the brand that she carries. She also endeavors to make an extra influential impact both in social media and actual practice by starting causes aligned with her self-awareness advocacy, as well as holding talks that would touch on mental health and the all-important Tourism-thrust of Miss Tourism Worldwide in general.
From all of us here at normannorman.com, Congratulations once more on a well-earned victory. May you bring to fruition all your useful and doable plans in the coming months.
Congratulations are in order for Zara Carbonell of the Philippines who was crowned the first-ever Miss Tourism Worldwide during the finals held in Batam, Indonesia yesterday. She was overfilled with joy for nailing this achievement, and was doubly happy that her parents – Cris and Zharine (left photo) were there to celebrate the victory with.
Her court (see photo below) included the representatives of Thailand, South Africa, France and Siberia in that order.
Watch the news report on her crowning moment now.
25 year-old Zara Carbonell has led an interesting life in pageantry. The former backpacking globetrotter experienced highs and lows in her pursuit of a crown that will significantly complete the chapters of her career devoted to gowns, heels and all the trappings of a beauty contest. Let’s not dwell on the heartbreaking moments, though.
Right now, Zara is on a natural high as she is poised to represent the country in an international competition (her second actually, but the more visible and talked-about attempt in my opinion). As the appointed Miss Tourism Worldwide Philippines 2018, she will travel to two ASEAN countries in the inaugural edition of Miss Tourism Worldwide. And the official sendoff earlier at Vikings-SM Jazz Mall showed this beautiful lass at her loveliest, complete with the support of her loving parents, brother, grandmother and aunt.
From September 3-9, she will be hopping from Singapore to Bintan to Batam (the 2nd and 3rd places are both in Indonesia) along with the other candidates of the pageant that will endeavor to create a more meaningful approach to Tourism and its allied causes.
Zara is ecstatic to say the least. She is primed to step up to the plate and come back with a victorious homecoming towards mid-September. And her preparations cannot be discounted. She will be bringing a well-thought-of wardrobe that will compliment her daily appearances in all pre-pageant activities leading to the finals night. She has even prepared a song number (with the help of her mom, Zharine) that will definitely impress the judges and organizers in the Talent Competition.
Watch out for Zara’s conquest of the international crown and let’s cheer her all the way to #1!
The #AQ2018 Presentation Show was held at the Mayuree 2 Ballroom of Dusit Thani Manila hours earlier where members of the camp’s Class of 2018 were presented to selected members of the media and invited guests. But before I give you some juicy details, let me clarify first that the more than twenty beauties presented are being fielded not only in Bb. Pilipinas 2018, but also Miss World Philippines and – possibly – Mutya ng Pilipinas. And there are two (2) more ladies – relative thoroughbreds in my opinion – have not been introduced yet. I was told that these duo will beat the deadline set by BPCI. If you want clues, check the final sentence in this entry.
Anyways, the usual suspects were formally introduced. I cannot name all of them yet (especially the newbies) so as to protect their identities for now. Not all of them will make it to the list of Binibinis for 2018, and as I have said, some of them are being prepared for MWP2018 instead.
The familiar names and faces so far are Volleyball superstar and former PBB Housemate Michele Gumabao, Miss Bicolandia 2017 Kayesha Clauden Chua, MWP2016 4th Princess Sandra Lemonon, Bb. Niyogyugan 2016 & Reyna ng Aliwan 2017 2nd Runner-Up Ahtisa Manalo, runway model Annalita Vizcarra, MWP2017 2nd Princess Zara Carbonell, Cebuana top model Wynonah Buot, 2015’s Binibini 33 Neesha Murjani, last year’s Binibini 28 Juliana Kapeundl plus Binibini 38 Anna Patricia Asturias.
Now how about the two heavyweights I mentioned above? Well, let’s just say that they could spell a good difference in the competition the minute they formally file their respective applications. One is a crossover national titleholder, while the other lady is the daughter of a former Bb. Pilipinas titleholder. Call it Alcoholics Anonymous meets Fifty Shades Freed. (Get it?) 😉
Now there is another persistent talk that one or both two Princesses of Miss World Philippines 2017 are considering a significant crossover to Bb. Pilipinas. 1st Princess Glyssa Perez and 2nd Princess Zara Carbonell are said to be keen on giving the bigger nationals earnest attempts in hopes of scoring important wins that would better their achievements in the former.
I say, why not?
On second thought, they will need to give up their Princess placements if ever they continue with the pursuit for the crown(s).
What are your thoughts on this, dear readers?
