As most of you know, Mercator and A&Q’s Jonas Gaffud celebrated his nth birthday last Monday, May 26. He actually had daily celebrations since then. But it was only last night when he spent quality birthday time with the ladies and men of Aces & Queens. And the theme was a Sparty held at the cool and comfy Bluewater Day Spa in Ortigas (very near Greenhills Shopping Center). There was sumptuous food served, a private movie screening (if they so wish) and a relaxing VIP foot spa for the ladies and some of the guys who opted to have one.

I received a personal invite from Jonas himself. Sadly, something very urgent came up at the last minute and I had to go back to Paranaque right after the Mr. World Philippines event at the Glorietta 5 Atrium.
Sigh. I’m kicking myself for missing all the fun. But a dutiful son has got to do his important obligations for the family over anything else.

Only seven (7) ladies won. So where does that leave most of the remaining 33 aspirants? The sulking and crying leave-me-by-my-lonesome period is thankfully over.
Consider this post an epilogue to Bb. Pilipinas 2014. Just like in a book or in the movies, the end credits show updates on what’s new or what has now become of the characters we just watched. For sixteen of the less than-successful Binibinis, life goes on as follows:
Bininini 1 Julian Aurine Flores is back to her first love - modelling.
Binibini 21 Racquel Kabigting just auditioned for Bodyshots 2014
Binibini 6 Anabel Christine Tia is back in Ozamiz City where she recently re-activated her art/cooking/dancing classes (aptly called Bb. Summer 2014 now) to kids and teens in a much bigger space.
Binibini 28 Carla Lizardo went back to her radio DJ work (seen above being visited by close pals Pia Wurtzbach and Bianca Guidotti) inside the booth. She has also resumed news presenting at PTV4.
Binibini 33 Erika Tilokani has been reuniting with her friends plus officially graduating from her course at Rizal Technological University.
Binibini 14 Emma Tiglao is also back to modeling like the hair-designing stint she did above for Maggie Wilson-Consunji.
Binibini 16 Zahara Soriano has also resumed work accepting modelling and promo gigs like the one she did for Smart above.
Binibini 10 Shauna Indra Curran (shown above with her father Bruce) has returned to Baguio to manage the family business.
Binibini 31 Angelique de Leon has returned to job hunting and is actually considering/deciding on a few good offers by now. She might even get an endorsement offer soon.
Binibini 32 Jeslyn Santos just spent the past weeks in Hagonoy, Bulacan before resuming her modeling assignments here in Manila.
Binibini 20 Kenneth Santiago is still keeping her 3feety shoe business alive while training at Philippine Airlines.
Binibini 34 Leonalyn dela Cruz has touched base with her auditing job again, but has also screened for Bodyshots 2014.
Binibini 29 KC Halili (2nd from right) will be resuming her Medical studies at UST.
Binibini 15 Kimverlyn Suiza has returned to work behind the camera.
The Instagram update of mentor Arnold Mercado above should give us a hint on what Binibini 17 Diana Arevalo could be up to next.
As for Binibini 8 Pia Wurtzbach, she has beautifully moved on from the Binibini experience and is currently mulling over other career options, like a resumption of her showbiz life perhaps?
So as you can see, these ladies have already learned to let go of the Binibini dream for now. Real life beckons and it’s time to process the next chapters of their individual journeys.
By the way, you can also add up developments about the other unfeatured Binibinis by replying below.. 🙂
Moving on, here are the next seven (7) Binibinis of Bb. Pilipinas 2014 you need to know more about. If you’re getting impatient, click HERE to read them all in one glance.
Ten (10) Binibinis guested on the DZMM radio program of Ariel Ureta and Winnie Cordero.
I’m not sure how the ten (10) Binibinis were selected to guest on the afternoon radio program of ABS-CBN’s morning show hosts Ariel Ureta and Winnie Cordero – “Todo Todo Walang Preno” – on DZMM. But these ladies – Parul Shah, Joy Marie Gangan, Nichole Manalo, Angelique de Leon, Vessica Sambo, Jeslyn Santos, Zahara Soriano, Leonalyn dela Cruz, Krystal Alonday and Racquel Kabigting – got lucky in a way after getting interviewed on-air. They were able to promote the upcoming finals of Bb. Pilipinas 2014 as well.
Five of them are from Team JDV so the ladies from this camp must be favored over the others. 😉
Our reigning Bb. Pilipinas titleholders for Creme Silk
Let’s do some quick grouping of ladies according to the possible international pageants they are likely to be good fits for.
Top of my head, I took the liberty of dividing the forty (40) Bb. Pilipinas 2014 Official Candidates into five (5) groups of eight (8). Each group is assigned a specific title to be handed out on March 30, under which the likeliest placers are included. See if your choices compare close (or not so close) to mine.

(L-R) Binibinis 19, 15, 14, 13, 16 and 23 share a table
Let’s say that Bb. Pilipinas 2014 will elect a Top 6 this year comprised of four (4) titleholders and two (2) runners-up. And using the photo above with six (6) lovely Binibinis (left to right Liezel Ramos, Kim Suiza, Emma Tiglao, Kris Janson, Zahara Soriano and Nichole Manalo) sitting around a table, how will the placements look like for you? How will you rank them accordingly?
If you ask me, I would put 13 for MU, 15 for MI, 14 for MTQI, 19 for MS, 23 for 1st RU and 16 for 2nd RU. 😉
Sporting the long straight dark hair that became an Ara Arida trademark in 2013. Will it bring success to Leona and Zahara this year?
The long straight dark hair – mermaid-length if you will – that stretches till way past the shoulders. That was how Miss Universe Philippines 2013 Ara Arida presented herself during the pageant finals in Moscow. And it worked to a good extent, despite pageant fans being mixed in their reactions to the hairstyle.
During the Bb. Pilipinas 2014 Press Presentation last week, two of the forty ladies wore their tresses almost the same way, albeit somehow layered in the ends. Binibini 34 Leonalyn dela Cruz and Bininini 16 Zahara Soriano did not exactly bring the house down, but enough to make the people notice their crowning glories parted in the middle (or near middle for the latter) and flowing straight and silky.
The way I see it, Leona carried hers more beautifully than Zahara. It must be the shape of the face or the over-all aura. But besides the hair, who are you more inclined to support between the two? They are two of the more low-profile ladies in the competition. Not exactly hiding behind the backs of the favorites, but not standing upfront with such prominence that would make the watcher sit up and take notice.
Starting today till a few days before Finals Night, you can vote for your Top Picks among the Official Candidates of Bb. Pilipinas 2014. From time to time, updates on the running results will be posted to give you an idea on who’s leading and who’s lagging behind.
By the way, this post will be sticky just for today. Afterwards, you can cast your choices in the widget on the right.
Happy Clicking! 😀
P.S. The names and photos of Diane Querrer and Sherlien Dass are no longer above after being replaced by Aiza Faeldonia and Carla Lizardo.
The Dazzling Dozen of A&Q for Bb. Pilipinas 2014 (Photo collage courtesy of paooap)
These twelve ladies – who I lovingly call the ‘Dazzling Dozen’ – are the ones left to put up a good fight for Aces & Queens in Bb. Pilipinas 2014. While some of the camp’s key individuals expressed their big disappointment at the non-inclusion of Jeane Louise Flores and Carla Lizardo, it’s time to move on and focus on the mission at hand: to keep the Miss Universe Philippines crown and possibly make it two with another major title. You see, they have not landed a Bb. Pilipinas International winner since the late Melody Gersbach back in 2009 (curiously the last year Kagandahang Flores got hold of Bb. Pilipinas-Universe in the person of Bianca Manalo). And I’m sure they would be more than happy getting the top two placements for this edition.
So does Aces & Queens have the potential Miss Universe Philippines and Bb. Pilipinas-International victors in them? 😉
Hi! Norman here. When I'm not working, I spend most of my free time planning on daily blogs. If you will notice, I always make sure that a fresh topic comes out everyday - not an easy thing to do but it's all good. Thanks for dropping by and enjoy the visit!
