The 10 ladies plus Olivia Culpo who were invited to the Nobu Moscow gig
Best of friends Ariella Arida and Patricia Rodriguez are part of the Nobu Moscow invite.
Our girl in Moscow has scored another gig. And this one’s big. Together with Olivia Culpo and the delegates of Peru, Japan, Russia, Czech Republic, Spain, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Ukraine and France, they will attend the Nobu Moscow Demo Show on November 6- a day after the Preliminaries.
And why, you might ask, the event is important? Internationally-renowned Chef Nobu happens to be one of the judges for finals night on November 9. And being there is as important as getting a crucial face-to-face encounter. No need to do the math here.
Ariella is definitely getting the good breaks! 🙂
P.S. In addition, our girl is one of the 12 delegates who will appear in Russian singer Emin’s new music video. 😉
The Ten (10) National Costumes that stood out in my eyes.
From among the 86 (eighty-six) National Costumes presented in the Miss Universe 2013 National Costume Parade at Vegas Mall yesterday, I picked ten (10) stands-outs for different reasons as follows:
USA – playfully original
Switzerland – show-stoppingly gorgeous
Argentina – lovingly magical
Malaysia – fashionably well-executed
Vietnam – a tasteful rendering of an all-time classic
Russia – truly mystifying
Bolivia – appealingly kaleidoscopic
Brazil – traditionally colorful and exciting to look at
China – regal inventiveness
Japan – another traditional stand-out in color and execution
If you ask me, Best in National Costume would be a three-way toss among host Russia, China and Vietnam.
So which National Costume met your taste? 🙂
I decided to start with the Asian region first for the Fadil Berisha glamshots. Given the dozen ladies above, who do you think stood out?
Personally, my Preferred Three in this group are:
The three Asian glamshots I like best.
(L-R) Patricia Rodriguez, Yukimi Matsuo and Marilyn Ramos
Patricia, Yukimi and Marilyn. Three beautiful ladies from three different continents. Each of them wanting to win Miss Universe 2013.
Patricia of Spain is a front-runner so far with her smoldering looks and sensual appeal. She could be Spain’s strongest bet since
1990 2000 when Helen Lindes placed third.
Yukimi of Japan is someone who exudes the spirit of the modern Japanese woman. Her looks may come off cute to some, but she is altogether a complete package from the Land of the Rising Sun.
And Marilyn of South Africa may have been ignored during Miss World 2013, but she has prepared hard for this one. She is, in fact, looking prettier now compared to the time when she was in Bali.
So who floats your boat among the three? 😉
Let’s do head-to-heads between Ara Arida and twelve of the other Asian candidates in Miss Universe 2013. Who do you think is more superior in each pairing?
In alphabetical order now.
Ara VS Ye Jin
Ara VS Manasi
Ara VS Whulandary
Ara VS Yukimi
Ara VS Zhazira
Ara VS Kim Yu-Mi
Ara VS Carey
Ara VS Moe Set
Ara VS Shi
Ara VS Amanda
Ara VS Chalita
Ara VS Thi May
Here’s my personal pre-arrival take:
Ara Arida is definitely stronger than a dozen of the region’s best contenders for the Diamond Nexus Lab crown. However, there are three (3) ladies I consider with the possibility of giving her a really tough fight for the one or two semifinal spots that could be reserved for the region. They are: Whulandary Herman of Indonesia, Truong Thi May of Vietnam and Manasi Moghe of India.
I’d say that our rep should prepare for this trio first before executing her game plan versus the Central Europeans.
Your say, dear readers?
Yukimi Matsuo of Japan will wear the above in Moscow for MU2013
Japan and Thailand are two of my most-awaited National Costumes for Miss Universe. They always manage to surprise us year after year. And 2013 won’t be any different.
In fact, the Miss Universe Japan organizers have already revealed what Yukimi Matsuo will wear in a special presscon held last week. While the design remains traditional, they have managed to put in some creative tweaks that capture the essence of the modern Japanese woman. Oh and by the way, their rep wears it so beautifully. She’s like a living geisha doll.
The design of the Thai NC for MU2013
Au Bah - the inspiration for the Thai NC.
Meanwhile, the individuals behind Miss Universe Thailand have already announced the winner of their design competition for the national costume to be worn by Chalita Yaemwannang in MU2013. A Fine Arts major at the Silapakorn University clinched the win and he will now collaborate with the designers for the final execution.
The design is a step back in terms of theatrical effect, but it will surely make the wearer look more stunning. The inspiration, according to my good friend Joey M. in Bangkok, is the au bah or garlands of flowers hanging in mid-air. If done properly, the finished product should still be a standout once paraded in Moscow come November.
I wonder which other national candidates will up the ante with their NCs this year. 😉
Isn't she the cutest?
Newly-crowned Miss Universe Japan 2013 Yukimi Matsuo looks so young and bubbly that you wouldn’t think she is already aged 25. The manga* cartoonist from Mie Prefecture will now represent the Land of the Rising Sun in Miss Universe 2013 scheduled to be held at a still unannounced host city.
Standing 5’8″, Yukimi is going to be a nice addition to the already-selected candidates for Donald Trump’s pageant. I like the aura and vibe that this girl exudes. I think she can hold a candle against the other ladies by simply being herself. And isn’t that the true secret behind enjoying a tough beauty competition?
Gambatte, Yukimi-san! 😉
* Manga is a Japanese genre of cartoons, comic books, and animated films, typically having a science-fiction or fantasy theme.
