Earlier at the Vestibule Bar of Resorts World Manila, the sixteen (16) Official Candidates of Mr. World Philippines 2018 were introduced to members of the media in a Press Presentation presided by MWP National Director Arnold Vegafria, General Manager Bessie Besana and RW Manila Corporate Communications Dorector Joee Guilas (co-presenter of the pageant). The hopefuls are vying to become the country’s representatives in the international competitions of Mr World 2019, Mr Supranational 2018 and Mr Eco International 2019 that will be hosted in the Philippines, Poland and Egypt, respectively. The attendees were also told that two (2) more titles are very likely to be handed out on finals night as soon as franchise negotiations are finalized.

Announcement fro the Miss World Philippines Organization after today’s Final Casting Call for #MrWorldPhilippines2018:

The partial Official Candidates of Mr. World Philippines 2018 are as follows –

The candidates mentioned above will be joined by the ones from the provinces and those selected through a special process to complete the list of official candidates. The press presentation of the contest will happen on Tuesday at Maxim’s in Resorts World Manila.

Among the announced contenders, it would be interesting to note the entry of crossover titleholders like Mister Philippines 2017 Denver Hernandez, Mister Grand Philippines 2017 Joshua Reginald Banatin and former winners of Mister United Continents and Mr Republic of the Philippines Ricardo de Jesus and Wilfred Placencia, respectively.

This early, though, the favorite of many is Fil-Italian Marco Poli who at 6’3” is the tallest and the one closest to the Mr World peg of Julia Morley.

Six titleholders in a row

You can call it title-switching or better yet, a shuffling of pageant assignments. There are some pretty significant changes at Mr. Republic of the Philippines 2015. And everything’s looking good so far.

Now I can fully understand why three (3) runners-up were named for each of the original titles. It all made sense during the Thanksgiving and Victory Party hosted by AA Pro Couture Head Arielle Agasang at Finio Cafe and Restaurant in Tomas Morsto, QC.

First off, the organization acquired four (4) new male pageant franchises, namely Mr. Mundial Universe, Mr. Tourism Intercontinental, International Best Male Model World and Mr. Diversity Culture International.

As a result, there are also three (3) new titleholders. So officially, the six (6) Mr. RP representatives will now be as follows:

Mr. Mundial Universe Philippines 2015 Archie Severino for Mr. Mundial Universe 2015 to be held in Arequipa, Peru.

Mr. Runway Model of the World Philippines 2015 Wilfred Placencia Jr. for International Best Male Model World 2015 to be hosted in Benadorm, Spain.

Mr. Model of the Year International Philippines/WCOPA 2015 Ian Barrett for the World Championship of the Performing Arts/Model of the Year International 2015 in Long Beach, California.

Mr. Tourism Intercontinental Philippines 2015 Carl Lagaña (formerly 1st Runner-Up) for Mister Tourism Intercontinental 2015 happening in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic this coming July.

Mr. Worldwide Philippines 2015 John Raphael Camitan (formerly 3rd Runner-Up) for Mr. Worldwide 2015 in Florida, USA.

Mr. Diversity Culture International Philippines 2015 Benedict Tan (formerly 1st Runner-Up) for the Mr. Diversity Culture International 2015 in Malaysia come December.

The six titleholders with the four runners-up who might get the chance to take part in WCOPA as well.

In addition, there are four (4) runners-up – Allain de Ocampo, Marc Paulo Noces, Vincent Loga and Ronald Kim Legaspi – who might join Ian Barrett in Long Beach for the WCOPA stint pending the acquisition of their US Visas and travel requirements.

wpid-wp-1422662569655.jpeg image In an uppity formal event that is full of male glamour in pageantry, the finals night of Mr. Republic of the Philippines 2015 culminated at the Maynila Ballroom of The Manila Hotel with the selection of three (3) handsome gentlemen who will represent the country in an equal number of international male modeling competitions abroad.

Announced as winners last night were Archie Severino as Mr. Worldwide Philippines 2015, Ian Barrett as Mr. Model of the World Philippines International/WCOPA 2015 and Wilfred Placencia Jr. as Mr. Runway Model of the World Philippines 2015.

The three new titleholders also had three (3) runners-up each. First Runners-Up for the three are Carl Lagaña, Vincent Loga and Benedict Tan. 2nd Runners-Up are Marc Paulo Noces, Allain de Ocampo and Ronald Kim Legaspi. 3rd Runners-Up are John Raphael Camitan, Dennis Keliag and John Ver Sabangan.

Mission-wise, Archie will go to Orlando, Florida for Mr. Worldwide 2015, while Ian will travel to Long Beach, California for the Model of the World International 2015 at WCOPA. Wilfred, the third winner, will be the host delegate for Runway Model of the World International 2015 happening in the Philippines by October.

I present to you now the nine (9) gentlemen who made it to my personal list of potential top finishers.

After sizing up all the Twenty-four (24) contenders, I have managed to trim down the list to include the following individuals with catch-phrases I came up with to describe each:

From among the nine, my bets would be Archie Severino, Julius Buenafe and Wilfredo Placencia Jr for the titles.

This time, let us look and appreciate the Official Candidates of Mr. Republic of the Philippines 2015 in their formal wear created exclusively for the competition by Arielle Agasang. They all look dapper, right?

Part of their pre-pageant activities are TV guestings to promote the male pageant to the public. Over the weekend, they appeared in two (2) ABS-CBN shows – ‘Gandang Gabi Vice’ and ‘The Buzz’. Prior to this, they also went to the other network – GMA-7 – to grace the late Saturday night program ‘Walang Tulugan’.

The boys are enjoying every minute of it. While the real competition won’t be until March 6, they still need to put forward their best behavior all the time because judging can also happen even during small activities where attendance and punctuality are musts.

Let’s see who will prevail among them. 🙂

On The Scene: Mr. Republic of the Philippines 2015 Press Presentation

IMG_0128 wpid-wp-1423981037147.jpeg My second Press Presentation for the week took place at the Spring/Summer Ballroom of Ace Hotel & Suites where the Official Candidates of Mr. Republic of the Philippines were introduced to the media. Wearing their casual outfits by Whoops! and swimwear by Arielle Agasang, the twenty-five good-looking men showed their individual turns for the audience, followed by an open Q&A where majority of them took to the microphone and gave their replies to an assortment of questions – both easy and tricky. Two sponsors’ special awards were also handed out – Mr. Blaze to Benedict Tan and Mr. Whoops Apparel to Niño Allain de Ocampo.

A closed-door pre-judging followed where the contestants were further scored to find the ones who will make the semifinalists who will comprise the first cut during the finals scheduled for March 6 at the Maynila Ballroom of The Manila Hotel. Below is a photo grid of the candidates in swimwear action.

Since there will be three (3) titles – Mr. Worldwide International Philippines, Mr. Model of the World International/WCOPA Philippines and Mr. Runway Model of the World International Philippines – with two (2) runners-up each, I thought it best to share my promising nine below, with the potential winners highlighted in the upper part as #1, #2 and #3. Hence, the gentlemen I would like to see as titleholders are Wilfred Placencia Jr. for Mr. Worldwide, Archie Severino for Mr. Model of the World/WCOPA and Julius Buenviaje for Mr. Runway Model of the World.
