In the 11-year history of Miss Earth, no other Asian country outside the Philippines has won the crown. There is no attributable reason to explain why, save for the fact that the competition has grown in leaps and bounds ever since. For 2012, the line-up is stronger than before, with delegates from Europe and Latin America leading an onslaught of strong contenders for the title currently being held by Ecuador’s Olga Alava. But if we look closely, one Asian representative might be capable of stealing the limelight from the rest. Warrathaya Wongchayaporn of Thailand is that young woman.

The impetus to perform well does not only stem from talks that Thailand could finally host Miss Earth next year. But to do better than Farida Waller is. You see, Warrathaya placed 1st Runner-Up in Miss Thailand Universe 2012 and it would be too fulfilling an achievement if she proves to be the worthier queen. Will she reach the finals come November 24 and set a placement higher than all her predecessors combined? I don’t see why not. She has most everything going for her – a beautiful place, shapely figure, charming disposition and a bright mind – qualities that won’t be overlooked by the people at Carousel Productions for sure. 😉
