Here is another Independent candidate in our midst – your Binibini 6 Janice de Guzman Roman. This TV host is just as pleasantly surprised as her handlers of making it to the roster. And I am glad this Miss Philippine Youth 2015 1st Runner-Up made it as well.
“Binibining Pilipinas is a great opportunity for me to represent people in the minority – to help them receive equal access to all kinds of opportunities and privileges, such as access to quality education. If given the opportunity to carry one of the crowns of Binibining Pilipinas, I will have a more empowered voice to speak up for those people who are suppressed of their rights.
What is Janice fighting for?
“As I have always been an Educator, I would want to continuously become an advocate of quality education for all that focuses on the well-being of teachers as well. My advocacy on education is something that I hold on to dearly because I am one myself. It has always been my belief that good education produces individuals who can become Ambassadors of Goodwill in the future.”
Here are the credentials of Janice:
– Master of Arts in Communication (University of Santo Tomas)
– AB Broadcast Communication (Lyceum of the Philippines University-Manila)
– Graduated valedictorian in elementary and high school, dean’s lister in college
– Has authored two books in Mass Communication for Broadcast Principles & Practices, and Information/Communication Campaigns
– Content Writer
– TV host in UNTV
– Marketing associate in UNTV and Wish 107.5
– University instructor for the following subjects: Oral Communication & Public Speaking, Philosophy, World Literature, Media & Information Literacy, and English
– Recipient of: President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo Academic Excellence and Leadership Awardee
– Plans to continue to Law School and work in Public Attorney’s Office

One of the ladies who screened for Miss World Philippines 2013 is a talented speaker who, aside from having proven her chops as a radio jock for the FM station of DZRH, has worked as courtside reporter for PBA’s San Miguel Beermen and a quizmaster for UNTV: Campus Challenge. Her name is Zahra Bianca Al-Jaber Saldua, who I mistakenly tagged (my apologies) as Paula Estenzo in a previous post.
Zahra Saldua’s brief self-writted bio states that she “…studied at Modern American School from Kindergarden ’til the 7th grade. Studied at the University of Perpetual Help System-DALTA from 2nd year high school till college. I’m in my 4th year of college taking up AB Mass Communication and I hope to be like Diane (sic) Castillejo some day, or get a show on Travel and Living or Discovery Channel. 😀
I’m half-Filipino (Dad’s side) and half-Palestinian/Jordanian (Mom’s side). I’m a Muslim and no, I’m not from Mindanao (not that there’s anything wrong with that, I’m just saying since every time people find out they think I know how to speak the dialect, wish I did but I don’t :P) And if you’re wondering, yes, I am a practicing Muslim.”

The rugged/laid back vibe of this beauty – who stands approximately 5’8″ – may be considered by others as un-beauty queen-like. But it can also be this relaxed/spontaneous disposition that could make her stand out above the rest. And do keep in mind that she is quite an articulate conversationalist. So where everyone else fails to expound on a subject matter for discussion, she could only go on and on without running out of thoughts to share.
Let’s see if Bianx (as she is fondly called) gets officially in and how she will be transformed into a more pageant-friendly presence in Miss World Philippines 2013.
