While 2017 was such a fulfilling year for pageant coverages at normannorman.com, Joy, Joseph and I are looking forward to a really busy 2018 starting this January with the Bb. Pilipinas 2018 submission of application deadline and screenings, the mission of Katarina Rodriguez in Hurghada, Egypt for Miss Intercontinental 2018, the mock pageants of both Aces & Queens and Kagandahang Flores and the announcement of Official Binibinis who will vie for the six titles at stake come March 18 at the Araneta Coliseum. This month, I will also personally cover the Kuyamis Festival in Cagayan de Oro City and the Dinagyang Festival in Iloilo with the crowning of their respective Queens.
The 50th Year of Mutya ng Pilipinas will also be worth looking forward to, as the organizers will have fifty (50) Official Candidates for the very first time.
But that’s getting far ahead of the year ahead. Here is a 30-second slideshow of what is in store for readers from January-June, 2018.
And in closing, allow me to share with you the specific segment of my TV interview guesting on CNN Philippines’ Rewind: 2017 Year-Ender Report with hosts Pinky Webb and Ruth Cabal plus the added bonus of having my favorite James Deakin in the panel.
This appearance completes a memorable 2017 that saw me on ABS-CBN’s Umagang Kay Ganda (twice) and TV Patrol, GMA Network’s 24 Oras and on CNN Philippines’s The Source and On the Record. 😊
Happy New Year to all!

While the quick news segment of Mario Dumaual on TV Patrol showed a sprinkling of ladies who are set to screen for Bb. Pilipinas 2014, what we actually saw is just a small dose of confirmed and possible contenders
If you will notice, the only Jonas Gaffud ward (now BPCI-managed talent) shown was the long-established re-joiner Pia Wurtzbach and Mercator celebrity starlet Wynn-Wynn Marquez (who is not even confirmed to be part of Aces & Queens’ Sixteen to Shine for Batch 2014). Meanwhile, Rodgil Flores did not show his best bets as well. The ones in the video are just his Team B aspirants, imo.
So there really is much to still be excited about. 😉
The Francis Libiran creation above is said to be one of Miss World 2013 Megan Young’s evening gowns for the pageant’s Gala Event in London.
Above is another Francis Libiran creation for the Gala Event.
We all know that Miss World 2013 Megan Young is in London right now for the Miss World Gala Event. The photos above – screenshots from last night’s TV Patrol on ABS-CBN – show the Francis Libiran creations she will be wearing in the said black-tie affair.
Miss World 2013 Megan Young is now a global property, but remains very Pinay!
By the latter part of next week, she will be returning to the Philippines for a much-awaited Grand Homecoming where she will be given an ‘almighty reception’ as what the Miss World website describes. Everyone is looking forward to a really really big ticker tape parade which will be given in her honor. Rain or shine, we will troop to the streets where the parade will pass and show how much love we have for our Queen. 😉
