#TurningPhenomenal Series No. 18
If you’re an influencer and digital content creator who’s tall, pretty and with an always engaging personality, chances are that going into pageantry is a logical option to consider.
Just like Jen Barangan from Carcar City, Cebu who made the following tiktok video go viral from zero to hero.
After losing her job as Flight Attendant at Cebu Pacific due to the pandemic, Jen went full blast with her lifestyle vlogging. She is now a certified YouTube personality with 713,000 subscribers to date. Although her presence on IG doesn’t compare in terms of numbers, she still commands a healthy 150,000 followers. On Facebook, she has 221,000 right now.
Now, can she translate the talent into a crown? Why not? She is highly relatable.
The photo on the left shows her at Kagandahang Flores camp with Rodgil Flores – a sign of her next step.
Let’s see how things go for this Cebuana go-getter from here.
Turning Phenomenal Series No. 17
After Franki Russell, here is another Pinoy Big Brother alumni being rumored as joining Miss Universe Philippines 2021.
For the more keen pageant followers, you may remember Diana Mackey as taking part in a previous edition of Miss Philippines Earth. That was way back in 2015 when Angelia Ong won (who eventually completed a back-to-back win in Miss Earth with Jamie Herrell).
This 23 year-old half Pinay-half New Zealander (again) opted to try her luck in showbiz and was able to pass all the screenings en route to being welcomed to the “Bahay Ni Kuya” during Pinoy Big Brother 8 (Adult Edition) when she was able to stay a total of 41 days inside the house before getting voted out. She finished 5th overall. Thereafter, she got casted in small roles for ABS-CBN teleseryes.
While the qualifying age limit is not yet closing in on her chances of being an Official Candidate, Diana has a few more years to mull on things. She will only turn 24 December 24 of this year.
Will she? Cabanatuan City or the Province of Nueva Ecija (which she considers home in the country) is still on the look out for its entry. She could fit in nicely and be the first official Novo Ecijana to become a Phenomenal Woman.

This one is not part of a #WishfulThinking post, but more like a #WishGranted. Well, almost.
Let us take a dive into the Queen City of the South and take a gander at the fierce and willful lady who is very likely to represent #CebuCity in the next edition of Miss Universe Philippines.
Beatrice Luigi Gomez is still the reigning (and the longest reigning to date) Binibining CEBU. During Season 4 of Pageantry Norms, she guested with other beautiful Cebuanas in Episode 3. And it was there that I realized her interest to invade the nationals before age becomes a fly in the ointment, so to speak.
25 year-old Luigi could very well be the next #AmbassadorForGenderEquality. But for sure, she will gun for the big prize the minute she formally enters #phenomenalwoman mode. And bring total inclusivity in her luggage as well.
#TurningPhenomenal Series No. 1:
There is always pressure when you cross over from one national pageant to another. But for this beautiful lady – Leren Mae M. Bautista – it will always be a good kind of pressure. After all, she has already collected Mutya Ng Pilipinas and Binibining Pilipinas crowns and one international title to her name. Going for a third in the nationals will certainly make her pageant career more glorious.
Age will not be a hindrance as well. She is and will still be 28 by the time Miss Universe Philippines 2021 is chosen. And might I add, a December 2021 potential playdate for the next Miss Universe is still safe. Her next birthday won’t be until January, 2022.
Mull over it. There is still time to ponder over things. No pressure even if there really is.
