Today being the last day of June – which also happens to be Pride Month – allow me to share the QUEENtuhan Special Pride Episode with Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, Bb. Pilipinas International 2014 Bianca Guidotti and Mutya ng Pilipinas Carla Lizardo. Guests are former Miss International Queen titleholder Trixie Maristela and Thysz Estrada.
It used to be that the Philippines always sends more than one representative for the annual Miss International Queen Pageant in Pattaya, Thailand. But for 2018, we will have a sole entry on whose shoulders will weigh in the mission of notching another victory in the said pageant after Kevin Balot and Trixie Maristela.
Carla Marie Madrigal of Misamis Oriental Province has already departed for the Land of Smiles and is 100% ready to fight for the Philippines. She will be wearing the country’s sash up until the finals to be held at Tiffany’s Show on March 9.
Watch her introductory video below.
When Miss International Queen 2016 starts rolling in with its pre-pageant activities leading to the finals at Tiffany’s Theatre in Pattaya, Thailand on November 11, two beautiful transgender Filipinas will banner the country’s representation. Both of them will endeavor to achieve a back-to-back victory in the annual competition with reigning winner Trixie Maristela.
Stacy Biano from Mandaue City, Cebu – who held the title of Queen of the South 2015 while doing work as Customer Service Specialist for a BPO company – and Sabel Gonzales from Anda, Pangasinan – a model and part-time actress – will have the big task of continuing the successful track record of the country in the contest.
And this duo will have their hands full as twenty-six (26) other contenders have their eyes on the big prize. What will be their gameplans? How will they approach the higher level of competition? Will both of them do our country by succeeding Trixie and notching a respectable placement during the finals?
We shall soon find out! 😉
That is the new battlecry of Miss International Queen for the 2016 edition. And with the reigning titleholder – our very own Trixie Maristela – along with four of her predecessors, the casting for this year’s search has actively gained ground with the help of major sponsors like Air Asia and the Pratunam PolyClinic.
The finals of Miss International Queen 2016 will be held in Pattaya, Thailand on November 9 at Tiffany Theater. Do you have what it takes to be the next?

Time flies fast, as the saying goes. And in the case of Miss International Queen 2015 Trixie Maristela, her reign has already approached the final quarter considering that it is only mid-June practically. This week, she is in Thailand for the photoshoot of the promotional poster for Miss International Queen 2016. And it could already start feeling bittersweet since the next edition will take place in Pattaya by the last week of October.
But it’s all good for Trixie because she knows that another person deserves to enjoy the privileges and responsibilities that come with being the titleholder of the most well-respected international beauty competition for transgenders. And Trixie has been steadily enjoying her reign, complete with a lovelife with Art Sta. Ana that has weathered the storm and successfully crossed over to a bestselling published book and a TV dramatization of their love story on GMA-7’s Magpakailanman.
Trixie will still lord it over for the next three months or so. But come mid-October, the fond memories will start flooding back as the 2nd big winner of Miss International Queen from the Philippines, at which time her successor will wait to be crowned next.
First off, here is the news report from Chiangrai Times about Jiratchaya Sirimongkolnawin who was crowned winner of Miss Tiffany’s Universe 2016 last Friday night in Pattaya, Thailand. She received a cash prize of 150,000 baht, an 800,000-baht car, and vouchers for aesthetic treatments at hospitals valued at more than 110,000 baht. She will represent Thailand in Miss International Queen 2016 to be staged also in Pattaya later this year.
Miss Tiffany’s Universe 2016 Jiratchaya Sirimongkolnawin has such soft feminine features that made her easily stand out in the competition. And I have always been impressed with the quality of their winners for the longest time. Watch her introduction video below. You may not understand Thai, but just look at her overall aura.

The bar is now raised higher than ever before.

So will 2016 be an uphill climb for everyone who will wear the Philippine sash in the next 12 months? There is difficulty for sure because the incline will be steeper with the standards of both local and international pageant followers getting raised several notches. The target is now on their backs. But nothing is impossible. Quoting Miss Earth 2015 Angelia Ong, “we will because we can“.
And with that, let us close the 2015 chapter with gratitude in our hearts. The Philippines is not just Country of the Year, but a certified pageant powerhouse nation. 🙂
The euphoria over Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach’s Miss Universe win has now calmed down somehow. So while pageant news has slowed down as expected, why don’t we re-watch videos of our five #1 victories in succession? Let’s start with Miss Universe 2015, then go to Angelia Ong for Miss Earth 2015, before clicking on Miss Globe 2015 with Ann Colis and Miss International Queen 2015 with Trixie Maristela. And finally, check out the crowning highlights of Miss Scuba International 2015 with Cindy Madumma. 🙂

It’s the day before Christmas here in Manila and what a roller coaster year in pageantry 2015 has been so far. The best part is that we had so many of the dizzying ups than the scary drops.
We got our most precious gift last Monday when Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach delivered the Miss Universe crown as promised. Just days earlier, Christi Lynn McGarry almost snatched the Miss Intercontinental title before Hillarie Parungao accomplished a difficult-to-crack Top 10 placement during Miss World. And even two weeks prior, Angelia Ong sizzled with a back-to-back win in Miss Earth, in addition to Rogelie Catacutan’s Top 20 spot in Miss Supranational. What a December this has really been.
And let’s not forget the other worth-citing ladies and gentlemen who started the ball rolling for us. There’s Parul Shah contributing a 3rd Runner-Up finish in Miss Grand International. And how can we miss Ann Colis with an explosive Miss Globe clincher, followed by a win by Trixie Maristela as Miss International Queen, a 1st Runner-Up notch for Daziella Gange in Miss Heritage and a Top 10 placement for Janicel Lubina in Miss International. Add to that the Top 10 inclusion of Reniel Villareal in Mister International, a Top 3 run for Judah Cohen in Mister Tourism International and a Top 6 rank in Mister Model International with Arcel Yambing. And just so you know as well, Cindy Madumma added a special side treat by nailing Miss Scuba International.
The year ain’t over, but Christmas is just a wink away. So let me greet all of my friends, readers, followers and loved ones a Very Merry Christmas! The sound of Jingle Bells and the chime of Silver Bells are ringing out loud for the Philippines. Let it snow! Or better yet, let’s all give Love on Christmas Day! It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
